Cadence Changes & No Balance Patch This Week

The next balance patch is going to be the biggest in the game's history and the slowdown starts to manifest itself; balance patches will come out every three weeks after a major content patch (up from two weeks).

In the latest Art & Design AMA, BlizzDaybringer revealed cadence changes coming to balance patches. These will no longer go live in two, but three weeks following a major patch.

No balance patch this week also means that our Anduin Release Prediction post is inaccurate. We now expect the Hero to hit PTR on April 29 or May 6.

What can you tell us about overall design pacing and seasonal events?

Good day az4th!

Quite a bit actually!! As you have seen, while we have needed to slow down our major patch cadence, we have been trying to heavily bolster the balance patches - keeping the game feeling fresh and ever-changing. Adam has done a great job spear-heading this endeavor and I believe the next one will be the largest in the game's history. In order to accomplish this, we have had to move from two-weeks post patch to three. This was a necessity for both the massive scope of implementation and giving QA enough time to test everything.

As for seasonal events, we are heavily at work planning (well-over a year ahead) and implementing (the next one is right around the corner) them!

Curious to see what they have in mind. Hopefully not many nerfs, I assume. Maybe they will buff Deckard's Potion of RevivalPotion of Revival again, hehe.

I have a strong feeling we'll see some talent merges like they did with some Heroes a while ago. It is better than straight nerfing strong talents.

I would like this too. And I hope they continue to balance heroes by mostly buffing unused talents, like the previous patches.

This would be interesting to see what this "biggest patch" is going to be, though I was hoping that they'd have a patch this week to fix the AI in Garden of Terror and Battlefield of Eternity as in GoT when a seed is about to spawn the AI (my ally AI at least) stand there waiting for it to spawn but soon as the seed shows the move away and leave it...or they will constantly try to pick the seed up while the Shamblers are around, meaning they get nearly killed, run off, then the Enemy takes over.

Though BoE I think is more problematic...when Immortals spawn both AI teams just stand around their own Immortal doing nothing unless pinged to follow (for Ally AI ofc) or core is destroyed... 😕

Nexomania (or whatever is going to replace it) is the next event, I wonder if pushing back Lunar/Caldeum Complex event means that it also has been moved or dates are staying roughly the same. Anyway, wouldn't expect Anduin at least a week or two after the event is over, though one of them saying it's a very big update sounds curious.

Quite interested to see the changes that come with the next balance Patch. If it is to be the biggest ever, maybe we could be expecting tuning to every hero in the game. Who knows. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store.

They mentioned before that they are moving the lunar event to being part of the Summer event. So we're getting a summer/lunar event combo. And likely will also bring back last years Nexomania skins too. In addition we'll get a new hero. And some balance, map, new Storm League, & general system tweeks I imagine too. Maybe even a bit of another rework in there somewhere too. Hence why it will be a big patch 😛 🙂

Please don't make this patch just nerfing all the cool and strong talents/abilities. Buff the weak. Maybe add synergistic attributes to talents. Just don't make this patch suck. We need our player base back.
