Patch 8.2 Bug Reporter Update

Recommended Posts

Reporting bugs on PTR will be even easier than ever in Rise of Azshara. Blizzard improved the in-game Bug Reporter and added a tooltip bug hotkey bound to "F6" by default, so whenever you encounter a bug related to creatures, spells, and items, mouse over them and press the hotkey to submit a bug report for review.

Aloha!

We’ve got an update incoming to the In-Game Bug Reporter for our Public Test Realm (PTR). We’re excited about this, because it should make it even easier for testers to get the right information to us as quickly as possible.

Starting with the Rise of Azshara PTR, you’ll see a new context-sensitive hotkey for submitting bug reports. When you mouse over any Creature, NPC, Item, Achievement, or Spell in the game, there’s now some blue text at the bottom of the tooltip that reads “Press F6 to submit a bug for this Item”.

915ZFUABANFA1555368491804.pngSimply hit that hotkey while mousing over the item or creature or spell you’d like to report, and you’ll see a text box pop up with the model of the creature or icon corresponding to the relevant spell or item. From there just type a short description of the misbehavior you observed, and your bug report will be sent to our Quality Assurance team for review.

9ERA5F16R3SL1555368491799.pngThe default hotkey for bug reporting is F6, but this can be re-bound to any other key by pressing escape to bring up the game menu, and then selecting Key Bindings. Find the PTR sub-section of the Key Bindings menu and set the hotkey for the Tooltip Bug Hotkey to any key you like.

Thanks to all testers who’ve used the In-Game Bug Reporter in previous PTRs. With your help, we’ve been able to review tens of thousands of bug reports. With these upcoming improvements to the system, we hope to be able to process and review even more issues that you send our way.

We’ll see you in the PTR.

  • Thanks 1

This is amazing, i´ve been on the PTRs, (Alpha/Beta included), testing out raids, the world, and other content like Timeless Isle and more back in the Cata & MoP days and this feature would have been a nice inclusion back then 🙂

It is a welcome addition. The only thing I don't get about PTR are requirements. We're supposed to test out something, but you need to be let's say Exalted with a certain faction to start a questline on PTR... everything should be unlocked for testing purposes on PTRs imo. Of course, they're lifting requirements... sometimes, but not always.

Zandalari Moonkins and Raptors were missing their dance animations when they were first implemented in Patch 8.1.5 and in Rise of Azshara, Blizzard added both. Check them out!

Vision of Perfection is a specialization-specific Essence added in Patch 8.2, so the effects affect different spells for each specialization. In this post, we're looking at them in more detail.
Each Essence has two components - a Major and a Minor Power.
Major Power: Your spells and abilities have a chance to activate "INSERT_SPELL_HERE" for 50% of its base duration. = [proc chance] Minor Power: Reduces the cooldown of "INSERT_SPELL_HERE" by 15.0%. = [reduced cooldown] Apparently, some spells have their cooldown reduced by 16.5%. A big thanks to Banshee#6893 for providing the data and clarifications!
UPDATE: Healing cooldowns (Divine Hymn, Healing Tide Totem, Revival, Tranquility ) are a burst of the cooldown, not 50% of the duration.
The "INSERT_SPELL_HERE" component varies and affects the following spells on a per spec basis:
       Death Knight
Blood (Vampiric Blood ) Frost (Empower Rune Weapon ) Unholy (Apocalypse)  Mage
Arcane (Arcane Power) Fire (Combustion) Frost (Icy Veins)  Rogue
Assassination (Vendetta) Outlaw (Adrenaline Rush) Subtlety (Shadow Blades)  Demon Hunter
      Havoc (Metamorphosis) Vengeance (Metamorphosis)  Monk
Brewmaster (Fortifying Brew) Mistweaver (Revival - healing proc) Windwalker (Storm, Earth, and Fire/Serenity)  Shaman
Elemental (Fire Elemental) Enhnacement (Feral Spirit) Restoration (Healing Tide Totem)  Druid
Balance (Celestial Alignment /Incarnation: Chosen of Elune) Feral (Berserk /Incarnation: King of the Jungle) Guardian (Survival Instincts) Restoration (Tranquility)  Paladin
Holy (Avenging Wrath) Protection (Avenging Wrath/Crusade) Retribution (Avenging Wrath)  Warlock
Affliction (Summon Darkglare) Demonology (Summon Demonic Tyrant) Destruction (Summon Infernal)  Hunter
Beast Mastery (Aspect of the Wild) Marksmanship (Trueshot) Survival (Coordinated Assault)  Priest
Discipline (Rapture) Holy (Divine Hymn) Shadow (Shadowfiend)  Warrior
Arms (Bladestorm) Fury (Recklessness) Protection (Avatar)

The Restless Cabal truly is restless as we get our second hotfix pass on the encounter in as many days. The rest of the hotfixes are a short list, as you'll be seeing Mindthief's Eldritch Clasp cooldown buff a lot less and Vol'dun regained a whole lot of Alpacas!

      Dungeons and Raids
Crucible of Storms The Restless Cabal Fixed a bug that prevented players from dispelling Promises of Power on Normal difficulty. Fixed an issue where players were unable to leave the room after defeating The Restless Cabal. Items
The Phantom Pain cooldown from Mindthief's Eldritch Clasp no longer displays by default in the user interface. Quests
Lost Alpacas have returned to the deserts of Vol'dun for players to wrangle in “Alpacas Gone Wild ” and “They Have Alpacas Here ”. Previous hotfixes.

Vision of Perfection was one of the Essences announced for the new Heart of Azeroth system coming in 8.2, and it's been causing a bit of a stir because of how powerful it currently is on the PTR. Today we got an official comment on the matter, emphasizing that these early stages of the PTR are usually not well tuned and further clarifying exactly why this Essence is so powerful and offering some possible solutions.
The Essence's minor power simply reduces the cooldown by a certain %, increases Versatility and heals you when the cooldown is activated, but the issue at hand is with the major one. The Essence's major power makes your spells and abilities get a chance to trigger your major spec cooldown ability (like Recklessness ) at a reduced effectiveness. The problem came with certain accompanying effects that trigger alongside the cooldown (like Azerite Powers, talents etc.) and the fact that they triggered at full power. The currently planed solution is to also reduce the effectiveness of those abilities to the same degree as the main cooldown, but that solution also has some exceptions.
      Vision of Perfection (source)
Thank you for all of the feedback on Vision of Perfection—it’s an idea we’re also very excited about. As always, the first iteration of new abilities on a PTR have tuning that is somewhat preliminary. That’s especially true for this ability, due to the complexity of the effect and the large number of interactions it has. Our goal is to make it an interesting choice among the other available Essences, while preserving the concept of it. For this and the other Essences, there will be ongoing tuning updates in the coming weeks.
On the specific issue of interactions between Vision of Perfection and other effects that trigger from or buff your cooldowns: part of what makes this Essence exciting is the opportunity to explore things like that. At the same time, if they occur at full value every time Vision procs, that may be far too much.
Our initial plan is that, as a standard approach, the added effects or bonuses should be reduced in value, in the same way that the cooldown itself is reduced in duration. For example, if Recklessness is proccing at 40% effectiveness, Reckless Abandon should also provide 40% of its normal Rage value. There are some cases where this doesn’t work because there’s no way to “scale down” an effect—Summon Infernal will either stun or not stun when it lands. We’ll have to handle those cases individually.
You’ll see adjustments to this (and likely some other items) in a future build of the PTR.
For more information about Essences and the new Heart of Azeroth system coming in 8.2 in general, check out our preview.
