Patch 8.2 Hotfixes: July 9th

Here come the first post-raid release hotfixes and aside from the big issue with Azshara's final phase transition, there's not many raid fixes to be had! Instead we have a whole lot of item fixes and tweaks, from Heart of Azeroth essences (mostly fixing those that inadvertently broke stealth), to a lot of Punch Card changes and a lot of nerfs to the effectiveness of items in PvP.

  • "Fighting on Two Fronts Fighting on Two Fronts " no longer requires looting the Mechagon Fight Club chest.
    • Developers’ note: Especially as a requirement for Rank 2 of an Essence, this step was out of line in difficulty with the other parts of the achievement.

Creatures and NPCs

  • Foul Manifestation now reliably spawns in Mechagon.
  • Ignite Mana cast by the Baron Geddon Data Anomaly in Mechagon now lasts for 30 seconds (was 5 minutes).

Dungeons and Raids

    • Azshara’s Eternal Palace
    • Queen Azshara
      • Corrected an issue that could prevent Queen Azshara from properly transitioning to the final phase of the encounter.


Player versus Player

  • Items
  • Warsong Gulch
    • Individual player Flag Capture and Flag Returns are now properly displayed on the scoreboard.


  • The “Battle for Nazjatar” now properly resets each week.
  • For the Brawler's Guild quest "Flaunt It If You Got It", the Amberseed bun should now hit your target regardless of their War Mode status.
  • Wardruid Loti no longer yells at players not participating in “Underfoot”.

World Quests

  • Players can again complete "Word on the Streets".
  • “Spider Scorching” now appears on the World Map when it’s active.

Before the hotfix, you could cast Cyclotronic Blast while moving, channel it while moving, cast other spells while channeling, and it didn't share a 20-second cooldown with other on-use trinkets. That made it far and away the superior trinket. I'm not sure where it lies now, but as a tank I switched to something else, because I need to keep my active mitigation up. Too much of a tradeoff for damage.

      Today's hotfix batch is another significant one, with more class changes, the Ny'alotha Mythic nerfs, the removal of the new Corrupted Blood aka Necrotic Plague from ICC, items, quests and more.

      Demon Hunter General Fixed an issue that caused Glyph of Crackling Flames to break the animations of several abilities. Rogue General Tricks of the Trade can now be cast on characters level 10 and above. Shaman Enhancement Fixed an issue where the Hailstorm (Talent) buff persisted after switching specializations. Warlock General Warlocks below level 10 now have a pet action bar to control their summoned demons. Dungeons and Raids
      Ny'alotha, the Waking City The damage and health of all enemies have been reduced by 10% on Mythic difficulty. Carapace of N'Zoth Infinite Void damage reduced by 50% per stack on all difficulties. Black Scar damage reduced by 10% on all difficulties. Mandible Slam damage reduced by 25% on all difficulties. Icecrown Citadel The Lich King Fixed an issue where the Necrotic Plague debuff wouldn’t be removed upon exiting the instance. Items and Rewards
      Wands can now be transmogrified into two-handed Legion Artifact weapons. Player versus Player
      Battleground gates will once again open when the countdown timer expires. Quests
      During the quest, "The Day that Deathwing Came: What Really Happened", the falling rocks in the Scar of the Worldbreaker are no longer quite so punishing on Martek's Hog. Players are once again able to steer the Keg Bomb during the "Do a Barrel Roll!" quest in Kun-Lai Summit.

      One of the cinematics that got us most hyped for its expansion when it first showed up, WoD's upgrade makes it even more impressive! SnazzyAI continues the WoW cinematic improvements, and it's now Warlords' time to both shine and get smoothed out! While the 4K upgrade looks great in its own right, it's the 48 FPS that's the bigger difference here, especially with the orc facial animations.

      It seems the pre-patch keeps bringing us new Scourge invasion-like oddities, despite the event not starting yet! The squish/scaling hits again, this time uncomfortably mimicking the real world, as we have another possible outbreak! This one isn't quite as lethal as the original Corrupted Blood epidemic, and it's a lot harder to spread, but there's still fun/mayhem to be had.
      The actual disease isn't anything new and has bee around a long time, as BlazingShadowAU and their group were doing ICC and when they were done they returned to the Great Seal, where people started dying all around them. They accidentally brought back Necrotic Plague, and the initial outbreak didn't quite last long as the disease isn't nearly as deadly as the old-school Corrupted Blood. However, if you have a group determined to have some fun with it...

      So, Necrotic Plague works differently since the pre-patch, as it apparently scales up quite a bit, to the point of 1-shotting players! Unfortunately this didn't quite work everywhere, and the Orgrimmar fields of Corrupted Blood death were not to be, with the main casualty in Org being the innkeeper and a few players. But, there was a better target available, as the scaling in BfA and Legion was quite deadly.
      It still took some effort, as the plague is on a 15 second timer and keeping the stacks high was part of the fun as it made it deadlier. And to do that you have to spread it to someone by dying, come back and get infected again by someone who has survived - and the higher the stacks get, the harder that is to pull off because players die faster and faster! Dispelling the disease also spreads it, but removes a stack, so there was probably a better way to get this done.
      In the end, the outbreak was limited to just a bit of fun in the Great Seal, as that's where the scaling was highest, and the close-by rez spot made spreading the plague easier.

      The stacks were getting pretty high at the end there!

      And so the group had a little bit of fun and there wasn't a full outbreak, with the Lich King's power growing a lot as players were dying all over the place and spreading the disease (perhaps if Bolvar had access to this, we wouldn't be in this whole Shadowlands mess to begin with). The pre-patch certainly continues to deliver on the weirdness, and we can't wait to see what it shows us next!

      The first Mythic Ny'alotha nerfs have arrived in the Shadowlands pre-patch. Blizzard reduced the health of enemies and nerfed Carapace of N'Zoth. More details will appear in today's hotfix update.
      Late yesterday, we made the following adjustments to Ny’alotha on Mythic difficulty:
      Damage and health of all enemies reduced 10%. Carapace of N’Zoth Infinite Void damage reduced by 50% per stack, Black Scar damage reduced by 10%, and Mandible Slam damage reduced by 25%. These hotfixes are live, and will appear in our next hotfixes update.
