Patch 8.2 Hotfixes: July 10th

We have a bunch of quest fixes in today's hotfixes, as well as some essence and other item tweaks and more!

Battle Pets

Creatures and NPCs

  • Seaspray Champions no longer chase players beyond their home turf.
  • Vyz’olgo the Mind-Taker’s Mind Drain now clears if the target enters an instance.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Azshara’s Eternal Palace
    • Blackwater Behemoth
      • Blackwater Behemoth no longer emerges from his cave until creatures leading up to him have been killed.
    • Operation: Mechagon
      • Fixed a bug during the HK-9 Aerial Oppression Unit encounter that caused only two Walkie Shockie X2s to spawn after an intermission instead of three.


  • Heart of Azeroth
  • Fixed a bug that allowed weapons imbued with Enchant Weapon - Naga Hide Enchant Weapon - Naga Hide to proc from damaging abilities.
  • Tidalcore Tidalcore s again drop from Mythic dungeons.
  • Ripple in Space Ripple in Space (Essence) now displays its teleport visual marker to all players.
  • Sticky Seaweed is now more abundant in Nazjatar.
  • Fixed a bug where Abyssal, Charged, and A5C-3N-D3D Gearspun Goggles A5C-3N-D3D Gearspun Goggles crafted by Engineers had incorrect requirements to unlock some of their Azerite traits.
  • Tortollan Tank Dweller, Thin Air Flounder, and Well Lurker should be easier to collect now.

Player versus Player

  • Warsong Gulch
    • Individual player Flag Capture and Flag Returns are now properly displayed on the scoreboard.


  • Amethyst Spireshells and Mirecrawlers should be easier to knock off ceilings in Nazjatar.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to see a generic island instead of the dock area in “Worldvein Rumors ”.
  • Hand of Neptulon no longer kills players during “The Lords of Water ”.
  • The Soulbound quest items acquired during “Factory Refurbished ” (Tempered Plating, Machined Gear Assembly, and Hardened Spring) have been removed. The non-Soulbound versions of these items now satisfy the quests involving these items.
  • Players should now transition seamlessly out of the cutscene that plays when throwing the Javelin of Suramar during "The Tide Turns " or "Changing Tides ."
  • Abducted Vaultbots now reward their rescuers with Junkyard Tinkering consumables once a day during "Abduction Reduction ".

World Quests

  • The number of Shirakess Grimoires required for the world quest "Overdue" has been reduced.
  • Hefty Glimmershells obtained during A Steamy Situation ” no longer disappear prematurely if the player leaves the quest area.
    • Hefty Glimmershells now disappear after 24 hours.
  • Abyssal Commander Sivara has unleashed a new wave of snapdragons into the streets of Nar'anan, resulting in more targets during "Time to Krill ".
  • Chitterspine Crabs should no longer hide just outside of line of sight range during "Hungry Hungry Hydras ".

I was very impressed with how well tuned and polished Operation: Mechagon was. They seem to be coming back to form after a pretty bad start with Uldir and countless issues with the early builds of the 5 mans. I just hope they will curb the difficulty after they open it up to keystones. It's fine for it to be punishing now, but it will be more than a bit much to do on a +10.

      For some odd reason, a player received a Corrupted Item from the Stockades while leveling, even though the system has been removed from the game in the Shadowlands pre-patch.
      Argoniek received a Corrupted Item (Standard Issue Prisoner Shoes) while leveling their character through a dungeon, which is weird, as Corrupted Items never dropped for low-level characters in the first place. Here's an image the player shared on Reddit.

      Fortunately, the item lacked any Corrupted Effects, according to the player. Just imagine the chaos that would ensue with Corruption Effects on leveling gear!

      With Mythic+ becoming much more relevant and presumably many more players heading in/returning to the dungeons next week with patch 9.0.5, this video going through some important interrupts for all the Shadowlands dungeons is especially useful!
      Interrupting is one of those anger and conflict-breeding things in dungeons, as fights often break out over a player or players (usually DPS) not doing enough of it, and then because of that there can be many spammed interrupts on 1 ability in response, so it's especially important to know what spells and abilities should be focused on.       After some community outcry over the new changes coming to keystone next week, Blizzard have detailed a new addition to patch 9.0.5, aimed at improving the weekly Mythic+ keystone generated. Players will be getting their first weekly keystone at the same level of the highest completed key from the previous week! Check out the full and detailed explanation:

      One of our goals in 9.0.5 has been to address a situation we introduced in Shadowlands with Mythic Keystones never de-leveling. We received a great deal of feedback on our planned adjustment, which is currently outlined in the 9.0.5 patch notes. With this proposed change, we would reintroduce an awkward dynamic where it wouldn’t be possible to sustain running a single Mythic Keystone dungeon per week, even if you always cleared the dungeon in time, because decay would necessitate re-leveling your keys every other week.
      When we created the original logic for Mythic Keystones in 2016, we wanted to make sure that players were getting Keystones that appropriately suited their proficiency in Mythic Keystone dungeons, and we wanted to reinforce the importance of clean and well-executed dungeon runs. Having Keystones decay from one week to the next accomplished both of those goals. However, in Shadowlands, we introduced the Great Vault and more Season-driven tracking of performance in Mythic Keystone dungeons, and we unintentionally disabled the logic for de-leveling Keystones, but the reasons for the original design still apply.
      We feel that the game should compensate players who consistently succeed at a certain difficulty by giving them keys that start at that level the following week, so we’re working on an update to 9.0.5 that should alleviate that concern while still satisfying the goals of the original system:
      In a given week, if you finish a Mythic Keystone dungeon in time, the next week’s Great Vault will contain a Keystone of that same level. So, for example, if your highest Mythic Keystone completion during week one is a +15 that you completed in time, you will get another +15 Keystone from the Great Vault to start week two. If you run that +15 during week two and fail to meet the timer, however, and complete no other +15 (or higher) Mythic Keystone dungeons the rest of week two, you will receive a +14 Keystone from the Great Vault to start week three.

      With the announcement of patch 9.0.5 arriving next week many players have been asking how exactly the Mythic+ Valor Point system achievement requirements for item level caps will work in regard to alts, and if they'll have to re-do the achievements on each alt.
      Luckily we do have some fairly official information on the matter, as Blizzard did mention this in a group interview with Chinese sites, where Ion Hazzikostas, Ely Cannon and Frank Kowalkowski answered many questions, this one being particularly relevant:
      While we don't have an explicit blue post stating this, and it wasn't mentioned in any of the many other interviews, it does make a lot of sense. However, we can't take this as an absolute 100% confirmation and will have to wait a few more days until the actual patch arrives. But for now it's safe to at least assume alts will be able to upgrade their (newly dropped) Mythic+ gear without having to re-do the long process of getting the Season 1 KSM achievement.
      Here a couple of reddit threads where the matter is being discussed:
      Will I have to earn ksm on an alt to upgrade my items to 220 during 9.0.5? Are the upcoming m+ valor upgrade achievements account wide? And big thanks to Thanks to SoulAwaken for the translation, so we don't have to address alts as "trumpets", as google translate refers to them.

      Blizzard / NetEase are reverting Hall of Fame / Cutting Edge Sire Denathrius kills and banning players that participated in real money boosting in the Chinese region.
      Yesterday, we reported about the Hall of Fame being tainted by boosts in the Chinese region. You can read the full article here.
      What happened is that the Alliance Mythic Hall of Fame has filled mostly thanks to real money trading, which is against the ToS, and so NetEase, who is in charge of WoW in the Chinese region, have sent quizzes about the Sire Denathrius fight to suspicious accounts, according to nemof.
      Here are some of the questions that they asked about the encounter:
