Classic World First Level 60 Coming Today

Recommended Posts

Today's the day we get a level 60 in Classic! Or well, at least in the West, as it's entirely possible there already is one on Asia servers, as they were in the lead earlier in the race. 4 days is what it's going to take to get to the level cap in Classic it seems, with the speedrunners about to end their race. We heard a lot about Method's race and event, but it's JokerD that's currently just shy of one level away from claiming that title.

There were several approaches to speed leveling for Classic, with no one being quite sure what would be the best due to the beta only going up to level 45. And so we saw 3 separate types of leveling going on - your regular questing, dungeon farm, and AoE mob clears. It's the latter that turned out to be the way to go, at least for JokerD, with some help from the layering tech for faster mob respawns. As you'd expect, there's a whole lot of rivalry going on between him and Method, with even some allegations of account sharing from one of Method's casters which turned out to be untrue, and sparked a whole lot of drama. On the Method side KennyMarsh is at the top, having gone to sleep today at level 55, with 5 players ahead of him and behind Joker, as Rikh, Uhdx, Tribe, Tatter and Nych are all at level 56 (source + individual streams).

He'll almost certainly dinging 60 today, probably in about 2-4 hours, so if you're interested check him out here:

We'll also check back when he does indeed ding, for that all important final burst of light and sound. And while the race to 60 will be concluded in the West soon, the one for Ragnaros and Onyxia will continue, as getting 40(ish) players to 60 will be the next goal.

So proud of my old Group Therapy guildie! He has been training non-stop for ages now, having gotten better and better at AoE leveling on private servers before WoW Classic launched (including an incredible 2 days 17 hours 1-60 run recently).

Will be there alongside the other 400 of us, present and past guildies cheering him on when he hits the big 60, and who knows 100k simultaneous viewers?! ?

Putting the finishing touches on a full Jokerd inspired AoE Grinding guide on our Mage Leveling guide as we speak!

Oh, so he abuses the layering system for respawns? Witty.

How is it abuse if people are doing the same thing to farm Mechagon Rares with the sharding system on live servers?  It's not like the xp potion fiasco we had earlier this year of exploiting xp gain.  This is just a clever way on gaining xp instead of waiting on 'x' amount of minutes for the area to repopulate with mob spawns.

You said it, clever it is.
I guess they days the leveling was about leveling and not calculating and alting around for proper layering utilization are gone.
But then classic nowadays would be unplayable without it, no argument there.

Also, for the raid race itself, my money is on Progress / Firemaw EU or APES / Gehennas EU. They seem to be much better prepared than Method right now! And there could be any number of surprise winners too, of course ?

It's actually quite similar to some of the older MMO's that I've played in the past.  Aion had a channel system in early leveling areas where players can switch to different unpopulated instances to farm nodes, rares, or just mob grinding.  SWOTR had a similar system in a lot of their older map sectors on select planets if population on those instances were almost to max.  Tera in certain zones would allow players to pick certain instances while they were in a nearby town.  GW2 Raid/Alliance invite allow server instance hopping to complete meta events on given endgame maps. ?

I'm still waiting for the announcement of someone doing the the Southpark Boar killing Challenge to reach max level.

Salad Bakers have cleared Naxxramas in WoW Classic under 60 minutes. This is the fastest speed clear of the raid so far. Congratulations!
Salad Bakers have beaten their own record (1 hour 3 minutes 56 seconds) by a couple of minutes and the guild cleared Naxxramas in 59 minutes and 44 seconds!

Here's a video of their speed clear. As TehBananaBread pointed out, a boss died every 4 minutes, which is insane!

As the Castle Nathria RWF is going on we thought it was time to share the spotlight, as another, equally as impressive and dedicated group of players has taken down the antagonist of many low level players. You can see top level raid leading, the tactics and strategies below, as things get very hairy at the end, with all cooldowns popped and the tank having to kite!
Unfortunately for the pro group above, this isn't the World First, as it's actually been done before - by a single player:
Whether this is "end of expansion" type activity or just some usual clean fun, it's always great to see players just doing their own thing and finding their own fun in WoW!

After the recent survey that went out and talked about interest in the Burning Crusade Classic, we now have a fairly reliable source talking about more news on the much expected continuation of Classic coming before the end of the year!
Nano, formerly a core staff member of the Nostalrius private server team, who had a meeting with Blizzard about how they made their server while Vanilla Classic was being developed, tweeted this yesterday:
While he may theoretically have been referring to the survey, the tweet was posted significantly after it, so it seems more likely this is related to an actual official confirmation/announcement, especially since it refers to a schedule specifically. This comes after Nano correctly predicted/leaked the release schedule for Naxxramas, but also had a time set for the TBC Classic beta in said earlier leak:
So this source has been pretty reliable in the past, and this tweet sure makes it sound like we won't have to wait for BlizzConline to hear about the Burning Crusade coming to Classic!

Blizzard have timed their releases very tightly, as Classic Naxxramas also seems to hold/produce a river of souls of its own... however a very different one than the Shadowlands Maw version. In both cases souls are going to their doom, although in Classic at least they get to have their bodies back!

      Source.

Just in case you're not quite sure what you're looking at, that's a whoole lot of players running back to the raid after death, in a very organized fashion, and it really does look like, and to some extent is, a river of souls.
And here's the real one from the Maw for comparison:

Interestingly, none of the souls in retail seem to be screaming about having to go back to Naxx and the Four Horsemen.

The Classic "Not a Bug List" has been updated with a new entry related to no teleporter or other method of return to the lower levels of Naxxramas once players cleared all 4 wings and entered Frostwyrm Lair.

      Frostwyrm Lair
Once players have cleared all four wings and entered Frostwyrm Lair there is no teleporter or other method to return to the lower levels of Naxxramas. This includes leaving the instance and returning, as you will be ported directly to Frostwyrm lair upon Entering Naxxramas once the portal has become activated.
