Was Ogmot Right About Sylvanas All Along?

Recommended Posts

35053-omgot-the-mad-foreshadowing-riddle

Ogmot the Mad, a member of the Twilight Hammer, was added to the game back in Legion and Patch 7.3.5 after the events of Argus. He drops Ogmot's Dream Journal Ogmot's Dream Journal full of riddles and it seems they were about Sylvanas and Battle for Azeroth.

Ogmot's Dream Journal Ogmot's Dream Journal

Quote

Page 1

Ogmot was just punny boy fightin at da war camp when da Masters first blessed me wit da visions.

I come to Silithus, to da great wound, seekin wonders.

Make Ogmot your vessel, Masters!

Ogmot was apparently blessed by the Old Gods with the power of vision.

Page 2

Last night, Ogmot dreams of great battle. Two fleets bashin on ocean of blood.

Shadows twistin beneath da ships, risin. Risin. Ogmot so happy watchin da carnage!

Then Ogmot gets waked up by skitterin sounds. Stupid bugs!

Dont matter. Ogmot knows dese dreams soon come true.

He had a dream of Alliance & Horde fleets clashing on open waters while the Black Empire grew stronger without anyone noticing.

Page 3

Life comes back to dis wasted land.

First da bugs come. Now da gobbies skulkin round... Dey cravin da world blood... Ogmot am sure of it!

BAH! Let dem have dese drippins! Soon Ogmot gonna drink rivers of blood! Da Masters promise!

This part refers to the Goblins that have started farming Azerite in Silithus, as portrayed in Legion's Horde Epilogue, where Gallywix told Sylvanas about its potential.

Page 4

Today smoke rises up from da campfire. Smoke tells Ogmot good story.

Ogmot sees lady wrapped in dark swirlies. She leads herd of blind sheep.

Da sheepies follow her everplace she go. Do everthin she say. Never doubt lady.

She guide dem over tall cliff! SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT! Stupid sheepies!

Da crown get fat eatin da sheepflesh. Da lady laugh as crows eat!

Ogmot laugh too!

Page 4 is about Sylvanas and the blind faith of her followers that do everything she wants. Ogmot calls the Horde "sheepies" and in the latest cinematic titled "Reckoning", Sylvanas, indeed calls the Horde, and literally everyone, NOTHING.

The dark swirlies that Ogmot mentions are probably related to Sylvanas meddling with the power of the Void, even Page 5 confirms that, and in the cinematic, we've seen her use void powers.

Page 5

Dat blade has shiny eye. Always watchin us. Why you no see it?

Three lies. Da first one been told.

Bound by dat throne? No. Free. Free!

Da next gonna come soon. Maybe dey see dis one.

Page 5 is about Patch 8.1.5 foreshadowing. In the patch, Xal'atath has returned and we saw Sylvanas wielding the weapon in a screenshot from BlizzCon 2018. Formerly, Xal'atath served the Old Gods that are watching our every move.

The "three lies" portion is more ambivalent. Based on Il'gynoth's whispers, it could refer to Anduin, or Sylvanas, as they're faction leaders, even Queen Azshara, or N'Zoth.

  • If it was about Anduin, the third lie he could have told us was about Tyrande being consumed by vengeance. In case of Sylvanas, this could mean she does not fulfill what is best for the Horde, but for her own interest.
  • As we learned in Patch 8.2, Queen Azshara was no longer bound to the throne, but free, same for N'Zoth.

Page 6

Other hammers here now. Dey talk and talk bout Argus. Bout da one dat got wakened. Bout great victory dat our enemy not even notice.

But only Ogmot sees da visions. Other hammers not blessed by da Masters!

Ogmot share his dreams wit da others, but da skinny one just laugh.

Ogmot no like her.

When Sargeras stabbed Azeroth, both factions were celebrating his imprisonment, but what they did not notice is that they awakened an Old God. Ogmot shared his visions with others, but all they did was laugh.

Page 7

Many days passed with no visions.

Did Ogmot make da Masters angry?

Me gonna make sacrifice! Please da Masters.

Remember Ogmot!

Ogmot no longer has visions and plans to make a sacrifice for them to return.

Page 8

Da star watchin Ogmot. Too shiny! Ogmot gonna hide from it!

Da dagger spoke true. It been too long since Ogmot got drowned.

Masters! No forsake Ogmot!

"To find him, drown yourself in the circle of stars..."

Page 9

Da bones got picked clean, but Ogmot still get no visions. Da other laugh. Say Ogmot not devoted.

But me is da chosen one! Ogmot no lose faith!

Another sacrifice? Yes! One more of dem aint gonna be missed...

The first sacrifice went unnoticed, so Ogmot plans another one, so that his visions return.

Page 10

Roused by her screams. Stirred by da whispers.

A blessin comes from da Masters. Now Ogmot understand!

A door. A path. Ours... Ours...

Fool! Da circle awakened us all!

Finally, everything is clear to Ogmot, his visions have returned and "roused by her screams" possibly refers to Azeroth.

Very nice past reference, but I personally don't agree with most of the explanations.

It's not about Sylvanas and she's not using Void or Shadow magic, neither Jaina nor Thalyssra could detect what magic is that. It's possibly Death Magic, right from Shadowlands, that may be why.

Besides, Alleria herself declared "Sylvanas commands what may be the only army capable of defeating N'Zoth." so Sylvanas working for the enemy who fears her the most is quite illogical.

We'll see how it goes ^^

*PS:
Here's my own personal take about it:

Her deal with Azshara still stands. It looks like their plan is to capture or somehow force N'zoth (Sylvanas have said: "in the end, he too will serve Death"), to use his powers against Void Lords. Now that Alliance and Horde are working together again, they will fight N'zoth, and that's what Sylvanas wants for her plan. Certainly, we've got more questions than answers. At least for now, it seems like the direction they are going with.

Exactly, especially the Loyalist ending seemed to have been explaining things but actually created more unknowns. I'm loving the mystery though, after all, makes you think about the story. Good result imho ?

"Bound by dat throne? No. Free. Free!"

There is only one entity I know of that is, as far as we know, bound by a throne.

And given that Sylvannas is serving Death...

Could it be THE LICH KING?

"Furthermore, the Lich King informed Vol'jin that he had been altered more than he realized and that as neither undead nor damned he did not belong in the Frozen Throne. The Lich King sent ghouls after them, forcing them to flee.[44]"

I’m not sure how this is “new” to people.

Not everyone reads up on lore, or goes on websites for wow news, or all millions gather to watch your one video.

Three lies refers to the Il'gynoth line from EN... it references a "he" so it's most likely Anduin or Wrathion.

the whole boy king thing im still wondering about.

I could see either wrathion or anduin, but if its anduin Im completely at a loss as to anything hinting to him being somehow corrupted?

Except maybe being a bit extra forceful that we end Sylvannas?  Seems like a stretch..

But im excited to see where it goes.

Wrathion I could see but he was completely gone from Legion.  That's some FAR-shadowing right there, referencing almost 2 expansions apart, given that this one is over half done.

That's the idea I think. He's been mentioned in the background consistently for awhile now. With Ebonhorn, the focus on Dragon Aspects through the Heart of Azeroth quests, and the new questlines & Wrathion model, I think the time is right for a reappearance.

I'm guessing the next patch will be Dragon Isles or Shadowlands with the next expansion being either Shadowlands or Black Empire. I think they do Dragon Isles as patch (makes sense to end this island based expansion on the most mystical islands all while rebuilding the dragon aspect hierarchy). If they choose to do Shadowlands as a patch, it will be about chasing Sylvanas for answers, confronting her death magic, "killing" her (for the moment). The fall of her army, being the last defense against the Old Gods, and her third "death" will usher in the new Black Empire. Think about it: the Void has many enemies that could stop it from ascension. The Legion, Death, and the Light all work in someway to combat the Void. With the Legion toast, Death in disarray, and the Light vulnerable enough to make a pact with Death, it would appear there aren't many things left to stop an all out return of the Black Empire.

The Black Empire expansion could be a perfect excuse for them to revamp the old world visually and questing wise. It's been several expansions since they did so in Cataclysm, and with a decent amount of bigger zones already redone piecemeal over the last few expansions, it would be less work to overhaul the rest. New character starting zones/quests, new lore woven into the old world... could be quite the refresher and utilize a lot of already existing assets (even in a rebuild, I'm sure they are just re-skinning the old world model with new assets). I for one wouldn't mind exploring Azeroth as a whole for an entire expansion (using all existing continents), instead of having the story funneled into one or two geographic locations.

I think since Argus was defeated there is a power vacuum in the Death realm. What we are seeing could be several forces vying for that seat. The Lich King, Sylvanas, Helya, or whoever has Odin's eye could all be pushing for that seat.

Dragonflight Season 4 starts today, check out our updated to-do list to find out what's new!
      New Content Available This Week
Awakened Raids are now available! The first Awakened raid this week is Vault of the Incarnates! Proiritize clearing Vault for Season 4 loot and your first Antique Bronze Bullion. The first Catalyst charge is available today, but make sure to use it after you clear Awakened Vault to see how many tier set pieces you've acquired after your run. The final boss drops an omnitoken that all classes can roll for. Killing the final boss on Heroic Difficulty yields a token that you can exchange for 1 class set piece. Click here to learn more about Awakened Class Set acquisition methods! The item level of loot from all sources has gone up by +39 item levels in Season 4. Time Rifts, Fyrakk Assaults, and Dreamsurges now all offer better loot, compared to Season 3. If you own Fyr'alath or Nasz'uro, you can upgrade the legendaries to their S4 base Item Level (502) using Scale of Awakening that costs 2 Antique Bronze Bullion, but you can only get 1 this week. You can still upgrade S3 gear, but you can no longer acquire S3 crests. New crests are available for gear upgrading. You will find the gear upgrading brackets in our guide. New rewards await in Mythic+ Season 4! The latest PvP season also introduces new rewards and better gear. This week's bonus event is Burning Crusade Timewalking You can clear dungeons to unlock slots in the Great Vault alongside Item Level 467 loot! Complete 5 Timewalking Quests for the weekly quest to receive 1 piece of item level 493+ loot. Clear Black Temple Timewalking forI Item Level 493 loot. DHs who earned both warglaives the regular way can now obtain the Weapon Arsenal from Illidan which lets them use the legendaries for transmog. Thanks to the increased reputation buff, it's super fast this week to reach Revered with the Netherwing and add some cool mounts to your collection! In Shadowlands Season 4, we've seen Fated World Bosses, but it doesn't seem to be the case with Dragonflight Season 4, so it's not really worth killing World Bosses.

Here's a reminder for all Demon Hunters! Since it's Burning Crusade Timewalking you can earn Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth from Illidan if you earned the weapons the regular way!
Make sure to run Timewalking Black Temple on your Demon Hunter this week if you've unlocked the Warglaives of Azzinoth achievement with a character that can equip them.
You need to collect both warglaives to use them for transmog and to unlock the “I'll Hold These For You Until You Get Out” achievement.
Remember, achievement credit isn't shared across your account, so you must obtain both weapons with the same character.
If you haven't acquired the regular warglaives yet, now is a great time to start farming them. That way, you'll be prepared to grab the Arsenal at the next Burning Crusade Timewalking event.

It's super easy to go from Hated to Revered with the Netherwing faction during the Burning Crusade Timewalking event, and the reputation buff helps you unlock six awesome mounts fast!
Sign of the Twisting Nether is active this week and the buff increases Burning Crusade reputation gains from combat and quests by 50%, which means you can skip the tedious Netherwing grind.
Normally, you would go from Hated to Neutral with the Netherwing faction upon completing the questline that unlocks the faction.
With Sign of the Twisting Nether, you will go from Hated straight to Revered! If you haven't done the questline yet, now's the best time to do so!
Where to Start the Netherwing Questline?
You can start the questline at the crystals south of Warden's Cage in Shadowmoon Valley, where you must talk to a High Elf quest-giver named Mordenai wandering around the crystals. You will find more information here.
At Exalted with the Netherwind faction, you will receive one Netherwing mount for free and can buy the rest for 200 Gold from the vendor in Shattrath City.
The available mounts are listed below:
Reins of the Azure Netherwing Drake Reins of the Cobalt Netherwing Drake Reins of the Onyx Netherwing Drake Reins of the Purple Netherwing Drake Reins of the Veridian Netherwing Drake Reins of the Violet Netherwing Drake Here's a screenshot to better illustrate their appearance.

Season 4 has partially started on NA servers, as players are noticing elements of the new season popping up. This is actually planned and was announced by Blizzard, as you can see below, but players were not expecting this much to change before the reset.
      Season 4 (Source)
Dragonflight Season 3 will be ending April 22 at 10:00 p.m. PDT, the night before the regularly scheduled maintenance, with Dragonflight Season 4 beginning immediately following on April 23. The blue post indicated that the season should start soon after, on the 23rd, which presumably means after the weekly reset. Here are some of the things that have already changed.
Players have been reporting various aspects of the season being in-game, starting with Season 3 items now being marked as legacy, with a grey tooltip, as spotted by Strosts:

      Source.
Crests and Flightstones have also been reset, with new ones dropping from World Quests.
Catalyst charges are also now in Season 4 mode, as spotted by lemoncocoapuff.

We have four new zones coming in the War Within, but just how large are they, all told? We have a few community members showing their relative sizes off, comparing to various other expansion landmasses, which we'll be taking a look at today.
First of all, the new expansion has one above-ground zone and three below, as the Isle of Dorn is our gateway into the three underground zones. This is best showcased by Sturtime2, who broke the Dragonflight and War Within zones down (with Zaralek, Emerald Dream and Forbidden Reach all being post-expansion launch zones):

      Source.
Now that we have a better idea of the War Within zone structure, we have a more visually direct comparison by CygnetFR, who also added Kul Tiras in there for comparison:

      Source.
And finally we have another Dragon Isles comparison, only this time with the Easern Kingdoms thrown in, courtesy of keyboardturn:
