Patch 8.2.5 Hotfixes: October 22nd

Recommended Posts

Here come today's BfA hotfixes, featuring the already announced raid nerfs (and the Palce opening to cross-realm groups on Mythic), with lady Ashvane and Queen Azshara getting significantly easier, mostly on Mythic. We also get a change to how the Battle of Nazjatar works, as it is no longer on a fixed delay, and we get some Mechagon quest and world changes as well.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Azshara’s Eternal Palace
    • The Eternal Palace is now available for cross-realm groups on Mythic difficulty.
    • Lady Ashvane
      • Lady Ashvane’s health reduced by 5% in Mythic difficulty.
      • Rippling Wave damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
      • Waterlogged periodic damage reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
    • Queen Azshara
      • The "Stand Together!" and "Stay!" decree combination is no longer possible in Heroic difficulty.
      • Overzealous Hulk and Tidemistress health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.
      • Draining Azshara’s Ancient Ward now reduces its energy by an additional 5 points in all difficulties.
      • Empowering a Ward of Power now increases its energy by an additional 5 points in all difficulties.
      • Healer-specialization characters are now less likely to be targeted with decree combinations that include “March!” in all difficulties.
      • Short Circuit now drains 10% less energy from the affected Ward in all difficulties.
      • Essence of Azeroth now has an increased duration if there are fewer than 20 players in the raid in Normal and Heroic difficulties, and lasts 30 seconds (was 25 seconds) in Mythic difficulty.
        • Developers’ note: These changes were made to smooth out the difficulty curve of the instance as we transition into the next raid tier, something we often do after all Mythic Raid Hall of Fame slots have been earned.

Player versus Player

  • The start time for the Battle of Nazjatar is no longer fixed to a 3-hour interval. The delay between events now has random variance.
    • Developers’ note: As players have learned the timing of the event over the course of Rise of Azshara, increasingly the perceived optimal way to participate is to camp the control points in advance of the start time. By adding some variance (which still averages out to a 3-hour interval), we hope to make the Battle for Nazjatar more dynamic without reducing the overall frequency of the event.

Quests

  • "Energy Cells for Everyone " now resets daily (was weekly) and will be automatically removed from players’ quest logs with the daily reset.

World

  • The Charging Station construction project in Mechagon now appears significantly faster after the Charging Station is destroyed.

It's a nice fix to the Queen of Azshara fight for Normal and Heroic difficulties.  Unfortunately I know several people that refuse to install (mainly my own guildies) weak auras to help with the decrees still or simply ignore their DBM addons.  Along of not understanding about the arcane bomb mechanic and having to line of sight from the raid group -.-

Shadowlands Profession journals are BoE and can be bought and sold on the Auction House.
Shadowlands comes with profession journals that can be used once a week to increase your skill by 5 points. The good news is the books are BoE and can be traded on the Auction House.
The following journals that increase your skill exist in Shadowlands. Archaeology is not included because it has been discontinued in the new expansion.
      Alchemist's Journal Blacksmith's Journal Cook's Journal Enchanter's Journal Engineer's Journal Fisherman's Journal Florist's Journal Jeweler's Journal Leatherworker's Journal Miner's Journal Scribe's Journal Skinner's Journal Tailor's Journal

Regardless of when it hits, what we've started calling Schrodinger's pre-patch will be the shortest in WoW's history. Battle for Azeroth has held that honor up until a short while ago, but even if we see the patch arrive next week, it will still only last for 3 weeks aka 21 days, compared to BfA's 4 weeks/30 days. Perhaps it makes sense that the longest expansion in WoW history is followed by the shortest pre-patch, but with 9.0.1 bringing so much content with it, it is a shame it turned out this way.
Expansion Pre-Patch Release Date Expansion Release Date Pre-Patch Duration (Days) The Burning Crusade December 5, 2006 January 16, 2007 42 Wrath of the Lich King October 14, 2008 November 13, 2008 30
      Cataclysm October 12, 2010 December 7, 2010 56 Mists of Pandaria August 28, 2012 September 25, 2012 28 Warlords of Draenor October 14, 2014 November 13, 2014 30 Legion July 19, 2016 August 30, 2016 42 Battle for Azeroth July 17, 2018 August 14, 2018 28 Shadowlands ??? October 27, 2020 ??? We can also compare Battle for Azeroth's pre-patch and Shadowlands' in terms of major features, to see what players could do in the respective pre-patches:
      BfA:
3-week long story campaign Stat squish Class changes (incorporating artifact traits into the baseline and more) PvP talent changes Profession changes, First Aid removed War Mode Legacy loot mode Small number of character customization options (BE eyes, Orc posture) Shadowlands:
Scourge invasion event 2-week long story campaign Level squish Class changes New player experience (Exile's Reach) Chromie Time leveling Newcomer chat and guides Allied Races no longer require exalted Many new cosmetic options Character creation screen updated Heirlooms changed Barber shop gender change Legion Artifact transmog non-spec specific Aside from the world quests and other event-related activities, the main draw of the the Shadowlands pre-patch is the leveling, as it's significantly faster than it's been so far (even with the currently active XP buff taken into consideration), and many players are eager to get some characters ready for the expansion launch.
We're still hoping for the Shadowlands pre-patch to hit next week, putting it at 3 weeks duration, but we've already started preparing for the worst, aka a 2-week run time, which we recently discussed.

An overview of all Covenant Armor Sets coming in the Shadowlands.
Blizzard added set bonuses to Covenant Armor Sets in the latest Beta Build 36086.
All four Covenant sets share the same 3-piece bonus that focuses on out-of-combat regeneration.
The 5 and 8-piece bonuses focus on Covenant Signature Abilities.
      Kyrian Covenant Set Bonuses
Soul Replenishment (3-piece): Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Shadowland zones. While in your Covenant's realm, the regeneration amount is increased. Serenity Blessing (5-piece): Phial of Serenity grants 70 Primary Stat for 30 sec. Removing a disease, poison, curse, or bleed increases the amount granted by 50%. Aspirant's Touch (8-piece): Your spells and abilities have a chance to cause your target to erupt in a blinding light dealing 159 Arcane damage or healing an ally for 195 health. Necrolord Covenant Set Bonuses
Soul Replenishment (3-piece): Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Shadowland zones. While in your Covenant's realm, the regeneration amount is increased. Flesh Infusion (5-piece): While Fleshcraft is active your Primary Stat is increased by 100. Victors Advantage (8-piece): Killing an enemy reduces Fleshcrafts cooldown by 3 sec and your Critical Strike rating is increased by 35, stacking 5 times. Night Fae Covenant Set Bonuses
Soul Replenishment (3-piece): Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Shadowland zones. While in your Covenant's realm, the regeneration amount is increased. Fae Swiftness (5-piece): Soulshape's duration is increased by 4 sec and Flicker grants a short burst of speed while in outdoor Shadowland zones. Guardian of the Fae - Your spells and abilities have a low chance to summon a Fae Guardian to protect you for 30 sec, increasing your pri by 60 while alive and periodically healing 5 nearby allies for 450 health. Venthyr Covenant Set Bonuses
Soul Replenishment (3-piece): Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in outdoor Shadowland zones. While in your Covenant's realm, the regeneration amount is increased. Penance Brand (5-piece): Your spells and abilities have a chance to inflict Penance Brand on your target dealing 660 Shadow damage over 6 sec and healing you for the same amount. One With Shadows (8-piece): While Door of Shadows is off cooldown your pri is increased by 80 and its range is increased by 5 while in outdoor Shadowland zones.

Soulshape, the Night Fae Covenant Signature Ability, currently behaves inconsistently, and the design intention for it is to work similarly to a Shaman's Ghost Wolf or a Druid's Travel Form when it comes to other abilities canceling the form.
      (Source)
We’ve seen some questions recently about inconsistencies with abilities that cancel Soulshape and abilities that are usable during Soulshape without canceling it. This is a work in progress.
The design intention here is that Soulshape should behave similarly to a Shaman’s Ghost Wolf or a Druid’s Travel Form – all activated abilities should cancel Soulshape, with a few exceptions. When work is complete, Shaman or Druid abilities that do not already cancel Ghost Wolf / Travel Form should not cancel Soulshape. Another example to follow is Glide for Demon Hunters.
As of this latest build of the Shadowlands Beta, Death Knight, Demon Hunter, and Druid abilities are set up appropriately, with the exception of some PvP talents. We’ll make this behavior consistent across the remaining classes in future builds.
I noticed that Howling Blast did not cancel Soulshape.
This is a bug that we’re fixing as soon as possible.
Also a bug: Death Knights might see a strange error message (“Must be in Undead”) if you try to cast abilities in Soulshape right now. We’ll get that fixed.

Blizzard made some changes to the item level of Soulbind Conduits in the most recent Shadowlands Beta build, and it seems they won't be hard-capped at Rank 5, as we first thought.
The item level of Soulbind Conduits increases by 13 with each rank.
      Conduit Rank Beta Build 35978 (Old) Beta Build 36086 (New) 1 155 145 2 165 158 3 180 171 4 195 184 5 210 200 6 300 213 7 300 226 8 300 239 9 300 252 10 300 265 11 300 278 12 300 291 13 300 304 14 300 317 15 300 330 It seems the item level of Conduits will be tied to raid difficulties and Mythic Keystone levels. You will also be able to add Conduits to your collection and upgrade existing ones by purchasing  Manifest Aethershunt, a consumable item from Ve'nari in the Maw.
