Auction House Issues: January 15th

Blizzard has posted a list of issues that are currently affecting the revamped Auction House on live servers.

Blizzard LogoBlizzard (Source)

We’re aware of and working on a number of issues with the new Auction House:

  • The Upgrades Only filter can show some wands and shields that are not upgrades.
  • While selling certain items, non-related pets will sometimes appear in the list of current auctions.
  • Players are sometimes unable to buy out an auction in which they are the highest bidder.
  • Sold auction rows can disappear from the Auctions tab.
  • Sold auction rows can display the wrong quantity sold.
  • There is no chat notification when an auction sells.
  • The Uncollected filter can show owned battle pets.
  • While selling a caged pet, the price columns are misaligned in the list of current auctions.
  • Some players have experienced attempting to cancel an auction that has bids enabled, but no bids yet, and receiving an incorrect warning that they will be charged an extra 5% penalty. This penalty message is only meant to be shown if there’s an active bid on your auction. If there is not an active bid, you can safely proceed with canceling, and the penalty won’t be applied.

We’ll continue to investigate all of the above and develop fixes wherever possible. If you’re experiencing any issue with the new Auction House, we suggest you first disable your addons and try again.

Thank you!

Its an awesome vamp when you need to buy something but to sell...  the undercutting is real , they should set a base value for things of the currect xpac idk if its possible but it would make every profession somewhat useful.

The "problem" is that everyone selling is min-maxing the tools of the trade. So, things like alchemy are only profitable if you craft during the best Silas proc, for example. That's the current state of the market, you need to heavily invest into having the very best conditions (craft only rank 3 recipes + tools min-maxing) in order to turn out a profit.

The AH just went through a complete reset, it's going to take a week for it to stabilize again. Also, don't know where you've been but people automatically undercut with TSM and Auctioneer anyways.

How is it not right? It's business. It's how it's always worked, and how anything works really.

My only annoyance is with no Auctioneer to check them I have to do it manually, which is annoying... Got to learn how to TSM I guess

All TSM does is automate the analysis based on variables you can adjust. You're basically advocating that no one should be able to perform statistical analysis on a digital economy because you don't want to.

The best thing about the AH update is unit pricing for volume eliminating pages of crap. In fact, that you only see the lowest price/unit of the item you're looking for, actually ENCOURAGES undercutting more than before. Additionally, the amount of load reduction this has placed on the back end running of the AH is evident in how quickly the AH behaves compared to before.

Heres my point , if i farm 10 hours per week some mats for example i don't think its right that i need to use addon and or use 2 or 3 other hours just to sell them and most of the time its a struggle. It may be because i am not good with the 'auction house game' and business in general but i understand the value of the current system. Its just not for me , and im sure im not the only one thinking that.

Probably not, but like anything in life, it's about getting the upper hand. Ebay and Amazon have the lions share in their industry for a reason, same as Walmart etc.

The overhaul for me at least, has nullified some addons, since Auctionator/auctioneer doesn't work, and I've not got to grips with TSM properly, but it is still a game of relisting as much as possible since its lifo no fifo...

While I played "the auction house game" long, long ago just to experience it, I do not lime it either. I think the point fxlm187 is thinking about is, if you do invest time to farm Materials to sell (bc. you like farming, you are a solo player, whatever), you are doing a service to other people and should be rewarded with gold without having to invest also time in "the auction house game". Since you have to do that, farming in itself becomes less profitable/rewarding, which is a loss, I think.

With N'Zoth's ending turning out to be a bit anti-climactic for some players, it seems the Old God might indeed have some tricks up his sleeve, and the pretend-N'Zoth "hacking" Blizzard have been incorporating into their tweets might be a bit more real. It seems killing the endboss of Ny'alotha doesn't register as a kill for some groups, meaning they'd get the loot from the boss (including the mount you'd get for Ahead of the Curve), but not the achievement or quest progress and, most importantly, the lockout. Some groups have re-killed him and received loot a second time.

As you can see in the video below, the boss goes down to 2% and then proceeds to die, and even the logs have it marked as a 2% wipe, but the cutscene played, the boss was on the ground and the loot was given:
      And here's a second example:

There's a reddit thread discussing it, with some players reluctant to re-kill the boss for fear of suspensions, but still needing the Ahead of the Curve achievement or quest progress, while some have already killed it twice, but also mention fearing bans. They've all submitted tickets, tweeted customer support etc, but still no word some 24 hours later. Hopefully it gets resolved soon and those anxiously waiting for a re-kill without the fear of repercussions can get their clear, or at leas their achievement and quest progress, before the reset. With the Mythic race coming up tomorrow, hopefully this has just affected a small amount of players.
Huge thanks to Schneider on twitter for bringing this to our attention!

Well, this one's "a bit" late, but we thought we'd take a look anyway since the Mythic progression race starts tomorrow, and we can still get a good feel for the fight and the goal all those guilds will be running towards. The kill was claimed on Wednesday, January 22nd by US guild Imperative, which means it took them a day to clear all of Heroic and down the final boss. The final pull took just over 10 minutes and we'll definitely be seeing that number go up for Mythic, with the unknown mechanics and possibly phase(es?) being added to it, as well as the big hope for an additional Mythic-only cutscene or dialogue snippet to give N'Zoth a bit of a better sendoff than we've seen so far.

Imperative is one of the guilds that will be streaming their Mythic progress as well, and are featured on the Method stream event. They're a pretty new guild and haven't had any high-level success in the Mythic race so far, but as they're comprised of former Blood Legion, Wildcard Gaming and Vigil members, there's plenty of experience there and they seem to be pushing a bit more this time around so they're definitely one to keep an eye out in the US/OC scene.
Here's their raid composition (not quite sure why there are 21 players listed, presumably a bug, or Imperative are getting REALLY creative with the game mechanics):

And here's the (disappointing, as per general consensus of the community) final N'Zoth death cutscene after his defeat, which has many players hoping and praying for a new one after the Mythic kill:
The Mythic progression race starts tomorrow and we'll be covering it here as well, with daily summaries of the events with plenty of clips and stats, and it's going to be a damn good one with two separate streaming events and the two top guilds, Method and Limit, being so close after the last race.

With the Darkshore Warfront now available on Heroic difficulty, we have a new cutscene that involves Tyrande.
The cutscene is narrated by Tyrande Whisperwind who has become the Night Warrior and the embodiment of Elune's wrath in Battle for Azeroth. She stressed out the importance of the bond between the Kaldorei and we also see Genn Greymane in the crowd.

HandyNotes: Visions of N'Zoth is a great addon, mainly for Assaults in Patch 8.3. It displays all the necessary information conveniently on the map.
With Handy Notes, you won't need to worry about all the vanity items that you can get during Assaults. The addon displays locations and rewards for rare mobs, battle pets, treasures, and other points of interest directly on the map.
Uldum is currently under assault by the Black Empire. On the screenshot below, you can see that the addon tells you that Gaze of N'Zoth has a chance to drop All-Seeing Eyes, and you get the location of the Rare Elite without coordinates.

The addon displays other points of interest, including locations for feeding alpacas to get your mount, battle pet trainers, and Assault caches.

You can download the addon here and update it manually or via the Twitch app.

Lunar Festival is back and we have a new quest line this year that lets you transmogrify your flower crowns all-year-round.
      Lunar Festival Updates in 2020
Lunar Preservation is a new quest which requires you to perform the Rite of the Moon at the moonwells in Ashenvale, Felwood, Feralas, Moonglade, Stonetalon Mountains, Duskwood, and Mount Hyjal, without letting the Blessing of the Moon expire. If you manage to bless the Staff of Moonflowers and transform it into Blessed Staff of Moonflowers, the druid will offer quests for your flower crowns so they never die, and you can transmogrify them year-round!
Crown of Boundless Courage Crown of Eternal Memorial Crown of Everlasting Fortune Crown of Infinite Prosperity First, complete the Lunar Rocket introduction quest to teleport to Moonglade. Then, talk to Myrael Lunarbloom at 53, 36 in Moonglade to pick up the quest. Go to the first moonwell at 48, 33 and click the action bar to charge your Staff of Moonflowers. You will receive a 60-minute buff (Blessing of the Moon) and must visit the following moonwells before it expires:
Ashenvale: 54, 46 and 60, 73 Duskwood: 49, 33 Felwood: 44, 28 Feralas: 60, 46 Hyjal: 61, 25 Note that you must first complete Magni's (A Fresh Trauma) quest line in Hyjal before charging up your staff, otherwise, it won't work. We're not sure if this is intended, but it's best to leave it here before it gets hotfixed. Moonglade: 48, 33 Stonetalon Mountains: 42, 18 Recommended Path: Moonglade > Felwood > Hyjal > Ashenvale > Stonetalon Mountains > Feralas > Duskwood
The timer on the buff will refresh to 60 minutes every time you charge up the staff, leaving you with plenty of time to finish the quest.

After finishing the quest, use your Lunar Festival Invitation to head back to Moonglade tu turn in the quest.
You must have Crown of Courage, Crown of Dark Blossoms, Crown of Good Fortune , or Crown of Prosperity in your inventory to start the quest to upgrade the flower crowns to permanent cosmetics. Talk to Myrael Lunarbloom who won't have a "!" above her head, but she will still offer you the quests.
The new quest is not required for To Honor One's Elders. Check out our Lunar Festival guide for more details about the event!
      Blizzard (Source)
Every year the druids of Moonglade hold a celebration of their city’s great triumph over an ancient evil. During the Lunar Festival, citizens of Azeroth have the opportunity to honor their elders by celebrating their sage wisdom, sharing in magnificent feasts…and of course, lighting fireworks.
The celebration has begun in Moonglade, and your Lunar Festival Invitation is waiting. Join in the fun by dressing up in your Lunar Festival finery, launching fireworks, and paying homage to the Elders throughout Azeroth.
      When: January 24 – February 7
Where: Moonglade, with camps in Ironforge, Stormwind, Darnassus, Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmar, and the Undercity*
      Currency: Coin of Ancestry
      Activities
The Lunar Festival is a time of celebration for the peoples of Azeroth. At the beginning of each year, elders of generations past manifest around the world to impart their wisdom upon all who listen. Should you encounter these venerable spirits in your travels and take the time to heed their words, they may even pass along tokens of their gratitude—Coins of Ancestry, the lessons of a past age in physical form. Gather enough Coins of Ancestry and the Cenarion Circle will open their stores of celebratory garb, fireworks, trinkets, and recipes!
The Cenarion Circle has good cause to celebrate, for the Lunar Festival marks the return of many Ancients that fell in battles past: Goldrinn, Malorne, Aviana, and Cenarius himself. But this celebration is darkened by the eternal torment of one of their own—Omen, a wolf Ancient blessed by the moon goddess Elune, has risen from the depths of Moonglade’s lake. Though Omen was once as noble and proud as any Ancient, he was driven mad by the Burning Legion’s tainted magics during the War of the Ancients. Omen’s immortality means that he is forever cursed to return in his maddened state at the advent of each new year—and this year, he has grown further in power.  Heroes level 20 and above must make haste to ease this tormented Ancient’s suffering, in the hopes that perhaps next year he will return with a clearer mind.
      SEASONAL BOSS: OMEN RETURNS!
The great wolf Omen was once a hero of this world. An embodiment of strength and fortune, Omen fought beside the heroes of the War of the Ancients until he succumbed to demonic magics. Turning against his allies, he raged across Azeroth, leaving death and terror in his wake. Omen was finally defeated in Moonglade, and he now sleeps among the silt of Lake Elune'ara. But each year, at the beginning of the festival, he stirs...
      MAIN QUEST LINE
The celebration begins with an introductory quest, The Lunar Festival. The Cenarion Circle has invited all denizens of Azeroth to take part in the celebration of the Lunar Festival. You can learn more about the event by meeting with the Lunar Festival Harbinger.
It wouldn’t be a celebration without fireworks. You’ll be asked to buy some Lunar Fireworks and Cluster Fireworks to launch and complete the quest Lunar Fireworks.
Once you’ve proven your pyrotechnic prowess, you’ll receive your Lunar Festival Invitation to travel to Moonglade and speak with Valadar Starsong in Nighthaven. With your invitation in hand, you’ll be able to travel quickly to Moonglade by standing within Greater Moonlight throughout the holiday.
      Achievements
The Lunar Festival features has 16 achievements and one meta-achievement.
Elune's Blessing: Complete the Elune’s Blessing quest by defeating Omen. Frenzied Firecracker: Shoot off 10 Festival Firecrackers in 30 seconds or less. Lunar Festival Finery: Purchase a festive pant suit or festive dress with Coins of Ancestry. The Rocket's Red Glare: Shoot off 10 Red Rocket Clusters in 25 secons or less.  Coin of Ancestry There are five achievements involving Coins of Ancestry: Receive a Coin of Ancestry, Receive 5 Coins of Ancestry, Receive 10 Coins of Ancestry, Receive 25 Coins of Ancestry, and Receive 50 Coins of Ancestry. It's a good time to travel Azeroth, see the sights, and pay your respects to the various Elders.
