Battleground Holiday Dates and Battegroup Realm Adjustments

Recommended Posts

Arathi Basin isn't the only thing coming this week, as the Battleground Holidays kick off on this Friday and we got the schedules for each BG as well. There's some small changes coming to realms as well, as the US ones will be split into two battlegroups based on their timezone, so that the holidays arrive at the correct time for each of them, as they unlock at 12:01 AM realm time.

Blizzard LogoBG Holidays and Realms (source)

With the WoW Classic 1.13.4 patch, Battleground Holidays will begin. Each of these lasts for about 4 days, during which players will earn additional Honor and Reputation in a specific Battleground. Battleground holidays start at 12:01 a.m. realm time:

  • Warsong Gulch: March 13, April 10, May 8, June 5, etc.
  • Arathi Basin: March 20, April 17, May 15, June 12, etc.
  • Alterac Valley: April 3, May 1, May 29, June 26, etc.

In order to have players from different realms in agreement on whether or not a Battleground Holiday is active, with maintenance tomorrow, we will divide all realms in the Americas into two battlegroups by timezone: Eastern Time and Pacific Time.

This will primarily affect the Latin American Spanish realm Loatheb and the Brazilian Portuguese realm Sul’thraze, which will both be placed in the Eastern timezone. Players on adjusted realms will see the in-game clock “Realm time” change over to the timezone of the battlegroup.

This change will have no impact on the Oceanic realms, as they already have their own battlegroup.

Thank you!

Blizzard have now set a date for the end of Season of Mastery, and "on or after" February 14th, 2023 players will no longer be able to log in to the servers, but their characters will be available for transfer "for some time thereafter". As noted in earlier blue posts, players will be able to transfer either to Classic Era or Wrath Classic realms.

As the Season of Mastery WoW Classic experience approaches its end, we will disable the “Enter World” button for all Season of Mastery realms on or after February 14, 2023. After that time, you will be unable to enter the game from the character selection screen.
We intend to keep your Season of Mastery character list available for some time thereafter, so that you can initiate free transfers from Season of Mastery realms to Classic Era or Wrath Classic realms. We do not yet know how long that access will continue to be available, but we will let you know once we do.
We suggest that all Season of Mastery players initiate free transfers for your characters as soon as possible.
      Thank you very much!

After some trouble, Blizzard have now enabled free transfers from Season of Mastery for EU servers as well, with the US transfers having started a few days ago. Remember that if you do not transfer your characters by the time Season of Mastery realms close (the date hasn't been announced yet) you will permanently lose them.
      Transfers (Source)
Season of Mastery players can now transfer their characters for free to a Classic Era realm or to a Wrath Classic realm of the same ruleset (Normal or PvP).
Please be advised that this transfer is one way only and final. Your decision cannot be changed or reversed.

Blizzard have announced transfers from Vanilla Classic's Season of Mastery to Wrath Classic (or Classic Era), starting today! A key difference this time around is that characters that are not transferred from Season of Mastery when it ends will be deleted.
      Transfers (Source)
Starting today, October 18, Season of Mastery players are now offered free transfers for their characters to either a Classic Era realm or a Wrath Classic realm. In this region, the available choices are:
From Season of Mastery Realm To Wrath Classic Realm OR to Classic Era Realm Realm Type Jom Gabbar Eranikus Whitemane PvP Nightfall Eranikus Whitemane PvP Mutanus Eranikus Whitemane PvP Barman Shanker Eranikus Whitemane PvP Swamp of Sorrows Yojamba Whitemane PvP Lionheart Remulos Mankrik Normal Shadowstrike Atiesh Mankrik Normal Obsidian Edge Atiesh Mankrik Normal Please exercise utmost caution when selecting your transfer destination. You are selecting either Classic Era or Wrath Classic.
Your chosen transfer is one-way, irreversible, and final.
At this time, we have a bug preventing some transfers to a PvP realm where you already have a character of the opposite faction. We intend to fix this as soon as possible.
Reminder: It is not possible for Blizzard Customer Support to modify your selection once you have initiated the transfer.
Season of Mastery realms will be permanently closed on a later date, which is to-be-announced later. Please note that when Season of Mastery realms close, all player-characters that have not been transferred will become inaccessible forever.
      Thank you!

Learn how to unlock Cold Weather Flying in Wrath Classic in Blizzard's official preview.
      (Source)
Once you arrive in the frost-covered lands of Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic ™, your mounts will get you where you need to go, but only on the ground. However, with Cold Weather Flying, you can conquer the biting chill of the Northrend air in no time, so bundle up and get ready.
      GETTING FLIGHT CERTIFIED
To learn Cold Weather Flying, you must be level 77 and know Expert Riding or Flight Form (Druids). When you're ready, head to the following trainers to learn:
Hira Snowdawn, who roams Krasus' Landing in Dalaran. Hira also offers the Tome of Cold Weather Flight, which allows your alts to learn Cold Weather Flying at level 68. Roxi Ramrocket at K3, Storm Peaks. Pilot Vic at River's Heart, Sholazar Basin REPUTATION HELPS
While learning Expert and Artisan Riding skills through the Cold Weather Flying trainers is possible, you can benefit from reputation discounts from Maigra Keenfeather in Valiance Keep (Alliance) or Wind Rider Sabamba in Warsong Hold (Horde) in Borean Tundra.
Also, depending on your reputation with Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde) in Hellfire Peninsula, there may be deeper discounts through Hargen Bronzewing in Honor Hold or Wind Rider Jahubo in Thrallmar.
SLIGHTLY USED IS SLIGHTLY NEW…TO SOMEONE
Need a lift but don't have Cold Weather Flying yet? No worries. A loaner mount is available from "Honest" Max at K3 in Storm Peaks for those level 77 or higher. Fair warning, these flying mounts are a little sluggish and somewhat stubborn; they will only fly at 60% within Storm Peaks, Sholozar Basin, and Icecrown.
      DON'T LEAVE YOUR ALTS GROUNDED
After your first character has reached level 80 and has Cold Weather Flying, you'll be able to get the Tome of Cold Weather Flight from Hira Snowdawn for your alts. Each alt that you plan to level through Northrend will need to be sent a Tome of Cold Weather Flight if you want them to be able to take to the skies at level 68.
We're excited to be able to bring this classic adventure to you, so don't forget to sign up for the beta. For the latest information and updates, keep checking WorldofWarcraft.com/news, and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
We look forward to seeing you soaring through the Northrend skies!
