Lady Vashj Hype is Over For Now

The time has come to speculate who the next Hero might be and for now, we know it's not Vashj.

Players have started speculating on Reddit who the next Hero might be and the hottest candidate was Lady Vashj, as she was recently added in Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland expansion and her Medusa-like appearance would be a nice fit for the upcoming Greek Gods event. On top of that, Heroes including Qhira have voice interactions recorded with the naga.

Heroes of the Storm developer David Warner responded on Reddit that the next Hero isn't Lady Vashj and that the team has been thinking up funny voice lines for potential Hero interactions for years now, so the recorded interactions don't really mean a thing when it comes to determining the next Hero.

While it may seem obvious because of the circumstantial evidence surrounding her (like Qhira's voicelines), nothing is set in stone and as much as I'd hate to say it, the Heroes team is not known for their clear and concise hints. You can look at something like D.va's announcement or Whitemane's teasers to see that much. All this hype does is potentially set the community up for disappointment and put an enormous amount of stress on the 10 skeletons still working on HotS development.

Please hype responsibly.

I've seen a lot of casual daydreaming and "what ifs" being taken as absolute truth lately. Remember that literally anyone can be writing these posts, and the odds of some forum rando having the exclusive inside scoop on our work is extremely low.

Our writers have been thinking up fun voice lines for *potential* hero interactions for years now. It's not necessarily an indication of anything but the future proofing process.

Probably won't be a WC either, whenever a new hero comes.

Still hoping to see Kil'jaeden though, has the potential to bring both some of WoW's common raid mechanic flavor and "Tomb of Soakgeras" memes in if they adapt his Armageddon for HotS use.

Blackthorne has been a persistent meme request for a while also. Personally, I'd love a new Blizzard Classics battleground like a Rock & Roll Racing battleground, or alternatively; a Cow Level. A corresponding Cow skin for Butcher would be hilarious. A level set in or around the Hearthstone Inn would be interesting also.

Or they could actually fix Blackheart Bay maybe?

 

For new Heroes, I feel like there's a couple of holes in the Diablo lineup that could benefit from being filled, Baal being the most obvious. But there's also Ithareal to finish off the Angris council, and Duriel to trigger D2 players PTSD.

From the Starcraft side of things, it's hard to see what holes in the cast need filling. Tosh and Vorazun are the only ones who really spring to mind.

I'm pretty sure the next Hero will be from Overwatch. We haven't seen one since Hanzo. I hope it is not the case, though.

I personally want Baal and Ithereal in the game so we can finally have the all the Prime Evils and Angiris Council, respectively.

My hopes from each universe would be:

diablo: Izual, Andariel, Baal, Wirt (lol)

warcraft: Mannoroth, Queen Azshara, Lei Shen, Cairne or Baine Bloodhoof, Vol'jin

starcraft: Daddy Mengsk, the Overmind, Samir Duran

overwatch: Reinhardt, Winston, Pharah

 

If I could only pick one from each it'd be Baal, Mannoroth, Mengsk, and Reinhardt

I like the cow skin idea for Butcher. Unfortunately, we likely won't see any new maps, as one of guys from Blizzard has stated that new map would take too long to develop, with reduced resources, required time for testing etc. They have shifted their priorities to new heroes.

Would like to see new Overwatch character, although if they aren't doing mouth animations, any new hero is going to weirdly stand out from the rest (unless it's one of the masked ones).

Brigette would pretty much be Johanna; I'd rather a Brigette skin for her instead.

Reinhardt has high chances to be added, altough I personally want Zenyatta.

I forgot about Zenyatta. I'm not sure I'd want to play him, but he is a pretty sweet little robot.

That doesn't mean much to be honest. It would be just like comparing Johanna and Uther and saying "We already have two Paladins" (yes, I know she is a Crusader, but they're pretty much inspired by WoW's Paladins) or comparing Garrosh, Varian and Muradin with "We already have three Warriors". Zenyatta and Kharazim are both Monks, yes, but their playstyle is completely different.

Meanwhile I see people saying they want Grommash in HotS, but there is one who doesn't make sense because his playstyle wouldn't be very different from Garrosh, as they are both brutal orcs wielding the Gorehound.

Dunno. Garrosh ended up being very control-orientated. I could see Grom being an incredibly aggressive character instead. 

(Still wouldn't be my choice, personally, if we had to have an orc. Saurfang the Younger as a DK, maybe. Or Nazgrim who has no real distinctive combat traits but an awesome character. Or dead Nazgrim who is hilarious. Or Garona.)

I know people maybe like to think from the side of "which cool character is still missing?", but they have to fit a unique new playstyle to that character. They should be still recognisable with respect to what they can do in WoW lore. So far Blizzard succeeded, I guess, for example splitting the shaman spell list between Thrall and Rehgar, or the warrior skills between Muradin, Varian and Garrosh. However they already included so much that I wonder how they want to come up with another full-fledged WoW warrior or shaman without having too much overlap with these these and still being recognisable. They also put in the ETC which is half a joke and half makes Baine or Cairne obsolete (Maybe they could at least give us a Baine legendary skin for ETC with reflavored and renamed abilities). Grommash is the same, in his case his WC3 abilities are the same as Samuro's. As much as I would like them to be implemented, Blizzard would really surprise me if they find a unique playstyle for Baine or Grommash which fits their character.

Thinking from the direction of unexhausted wow classes, they could make a druid that can actually shapeshift, for example Broll Bearmantle to complete Rehgar's gladiator team and because he is a known shapeshifter.

Also a non-frost death knight (Darion Mograine?) with a short-range Death's Grasp, a disease that can spread, anti-magic zone, a (semi-)permanent minion, Asphyxiate, or a runic power mechanic where you can farm RP on minions before a fight and then use that on Death Strikes for self-sustain. There is a lot on the DK spelllist that would make for another unique HotS champion other than Arthas.

Outside of the ordinary classes, what could be unique is they could make a gnome tinkerer in a gyrocopter and/or robostrider (Mekkatorque?). This also would finally give gnomes some representation.

      All Quests that can lose stacks will never cause the player to fall below milestone thresholds. Pinnacle Rewards are now named Mythic Rewards to give a more Blizzard feel. So Mythic-y!       All Quests that can lose stacks will never cause the player to fall below milestone thresholds. Pinnacle Rewards are now named Mythic Rewards to give a more Blizzard feel. So Mythic-y! The following Summoned Units now lose health each second: Demon Lieutenants, Demon Warriors, Gargantuan, Hydralisks, Roaches, Rock-It Turrets, Rush Zombies, Scarabs, Treants, Tumors, and Water Elementals. Total Health and Duration of these Summoned Units have been adjusted to compensate for this. Structures now prioritize Summoned Units when there are no remaining minions. Summoned Units no longer take half damage from Structures. XP Globe pickup sound is now also played when killing a minion that instantly yields XP. Updated Homescreen and Startup Music. Return to Top
