Don't Forget to Create a Demon Hunter & Death Knight Before the Shadowlands Pre-Patch

Recommended Posts

bSCpmK4.jpeg

Demon Hunters and Death Knights start at a reduced level in the Shadowlands pre-patch, so if you don't have the time to level them up, you should at least create one of each.

Under the current system Level 120 characters will be 50, and lower-level characters will be
reduced proportionally, even if you haven't completed their starting experience.

  • Demon Hunters on live servers start at Level 98, so after the squish, your character will have Level 39, which is still better than Level 8 they start at in Shadowlands.
  • Death Knights currently start at Level 55, so after the squish, you will have a Level 23 Death Knight, instead of Level 8, the starting level for old Death Knights, or Level 10, the starting level of Allied Race Death Knights.

TL;DR:

  • If you can't bother leveling up a Demon Hunter or Death Knight before the Shadowlands pre-patch goes live, make sure to at least create one because after the squish, their levels will be reduced proportionally which is still better than the nerf both classes are getting in terms of their starting level.

May also want to log them in once as well, just in case character creation itself isn't enough, otherwise you may find yourself looking at level 8 characters anyways.

Word of wisdom

Well, got a 120 from both and I doubt I will ever want a second DH (hell, I don't even want my first one). But a second DK may will be useful one day, especially with the covenant system.

Got both to Lv.120 still undecided if I want to go for Blood or Frost in SL.  I've tried to go Unholy in BFA but could never get the rotation spot on and felt as if there was a lot of ramp up  time for select situations in Keystones.

Because the leveling experience will be totally different, I welcome a lower level to start. Not that I will ever start another DH (I still go back and forth about deleting mine). I am holding off starting a Horde Paladin precisely so I can level an alt "all the way" in the new system. Different strokes...

I have 4 Demon Hunters and 4 Death Knights spread on 4 servers. I think I'm good.

(LOVE my DH...Death Knight...can't find the right "Feel". Frost or Unholy.

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has confirmed that the Dracthyr race will have more class options in The War Within. However, this feature may not be ready in time for the expansion's launch.
This update was highlighted in a tweet by MrGM, who shared insights from a London content creator interview about the Dracthyr.
The plan is to introduce the ability for Dracthyr to play as other classes in War Within. Emphasis on playing in Visage form. Required animations for other classes are actively being worked on. The implementation is unlikely to happen at launch, but targeted for early in the expansion cycle. Placeholder for tweet 1780748422066188399
