The Appearance Change service for Shadowlands is retiring from the Blizzard Shop prior to the release of the pre-patch. You can simply visit the Barber Shop and change your gender and customize your appearance.

With the release of the pre-expansion patch, players will be able to seek out a Barber Shop for a variety of character customization options, including the ability to change your character’s gender, hair, facial features, and more. Due to this upcoming new in-game option, the Appearance Change service for Shadowlands will be retired from the Blizzard Shop prior to the release of the pre-patch.

Now we just need free race changes. I understand locking faction changes behind a paywall since there is a lot more to that, but let us change race within our faction.

I am totally up for that. Or at least include name changes for gender change as well. It will look hella weird if there are tons of males and females with their names mixed and mashed. xD

They prolly wont allow free race changes because then everybody would just change race to get a different racial for a certain type of content.

This could be remedied by simply adding a cooldown on the race change. Make it so you can only change the race every 3 months or so.

Race changes would of course be nice, but I feel like name changes are pretty much essential. Then again, I guess they are at least cheaper than a appearance change was, so I reckon it's still a plus, no matter how you look at it. Still think that a free gender change kind of should go hand in hand with a free name change. And with free I mean of course a reasonable Gold price.

But maybe that's only a problem for people who pick immersive names and I don't know how big of a group those make up. If you name your character "Healdududu" or something like that, I'd think you wouldn't care about name changes. XD

Yeah, I thought about that, too. But my current main is a female bloodelf with a matching name. Imagine her being male with a female name... on the other hand there wouldn't be much difference. Well if you exclude female orcs suddenly being namend "Groggknarsh" or something. xD

I feel you, I'm in the same boat. I don't think I have a single character whose name is ambiguous enough to really entertain the thought of switching their gender. XD

But still, it's better than not having the option for free at all, even though it feels like you're only getting one half of the full package for free. The cynic in me even thinks that maybe it was Blizzard's plan all along to use this concession to make the name change a more compelling offer, to boost the overall service sales.
