Deaf Guild Defeats N'Zoth Mythic, Gets Cutting Edge

Recommended Posts

Mythic raiding takes quite a lot of coordination between the players and many still don't manage to achieve the Cutting Edge achievement, but today we have quite an accomplishment on the subject. Undaunted, a deaf and hard of hearing guild has managed to down N'Zoth Mythic without any voice comms (obviously)! Not only that, but we get to see their version of the now standard "nerdscreams" just as the kill happened! Their "comms exploding" chat pop-up is a particularly cool detail:

Huge congratulations to the guild, as this is truly an amazing accomplishment! Here's the full kill VoD:

And here are some comments from the reddit thread by the raiders themselves:

Quote

Whitely:
In case anyone is wondering, it took us total of 377 attempts to kill this boss! Yes, it's a bit a lot comparing to other mythic guilds but that's with a full no-voice guild with Deaf and Hard of Hearing players in it! It's a huge accomplishment for us!
...
Geddyn:
Recruiting has actually gone super well for us since the guild moved from Ner'zhul to Area 52. We've also seen a huge influx of new players since Wowhead did a feature on us a few weeks ago. As things currently stand, we're on track to have TWO raid teams in Shadowlands.

Also, we don't discriminate against hearing players, so long as they understand that we don't use voice chat. (We do occasionally use Zoom for ASL meetings on difficult bosses, which are transcribed for those who don't know the language.) We do have a few hearing players who participated in that Cutting Edge kill.
....
I think we will. We got a very late start to the tier, since the guild was on Ner'zhul at the beginning of the tier and couldn't consistently field 20 people to make any significant progress in Mythic.

After switching to Area 52, we were able to tackle Mythic consistently, although we still devoted time each week to Heroic clears for loot.
...
kewtifyed:

OP here - if you're interested in joining our guild we are always recruiting. There's no application process to join as a casual/social and if you're interested in SL raiding with us you can find out more about us at our website https://undaunted.enjin.com like how to join our discord or learn more about us by checking out the info tabs on top!

We are a guild founded by and for deaf and hard of hearing WoW gamers since Cataclysm but we do not make deafness a requirement for membership - we have hearing players who join for various reasons and we welcome you!
...
Yes that's true. We are based on NA but please don't be shy about joining our discord and use our discord as a social outlet. We have an @Europe role (as we do have quite a bit of EU deaf/hard of hearing players just hanging out in the discord!) and perhaps this would help you connect with other like minded EU deaf players. Discord link is a tab on the top of our website https://undaunted.enjin.com please come say hi!

Thanks for the shoutout! The community response to us achieving Cutting Edge has been overwhelming. We knew people would be thrilled for us, but we didn't expect to to blow up like this.

the title should say Cutting Edge, not ATOC ?

Yep fixed! Not sure what happened there, clearly wrote Cutting Edge in like the first sentence of the article, then proceeded to put aotc in the title AND social posts lol.

In my case it's not important you achieved cutting edge. I'm more impressed what you stand for. It's awesome to integrate deaf and hard hearing people and build a community around em. Congratulation for this REAL achievement!

So here's a very special meme video, done so well that it basically transcends the format and becomes an actually engaging and epic video in its own right, despite being a comedy bit.
Regardless of whether you're familiar with this particular meme format or SpongeBob in general, I feel pretty confident that you'll enjoy/love/form a cult around the video. We'll start with the basic version (which is actually very popular, getting over 600,000 views since March), and it later got a director's cut, the actual star of the show. In case you want to save 38 seconds of the original video, head to the second one below, but we're going to build some tension and excitement with the basic version, just to show how much an extended cut can improve things:
A pretty funny premise, very similar to the basic meme format, short and sweet - how could it get better? Well, now for the masterpiece which came out a few days ago:

We have another extremely impressive Mythic+ run, as Aeristides and company have managed to clear a +21 Mists of Tirna Scithe without a healer! The Prot Pala-lead group had a 226 average item level and managed to be 2 minutes under time on this very high key, and while there was healing, there was not a healing spec anywhere to be found!

And here's the composition and more details on the gear:

Today, we're taking a look at which specs perform best in Mythic+ based on this week's affixes.
      Introduction
Welcome to our new format, where we explore the best specs for Mythic+ each week based on the current affixes. The data is taken from bestkeystone.com. The site gathers data from all regions and ranks each spec based on its "Average Score," depending on how well it performs in Mythic+ 10 runs that week.
This article is based on 124K Mythic runs that have been completed so far this week on live servers.
This Week's Affixes (Week of May 4)
Tyrannical Bursting Explosive Prideful Best Healers for Mythic+ This Week
Holy Paladin is the best healer for this week's affix combination, followed by Discipline Priest, and Restoration Shaman. Mistweaver Monk is the worst one with an Average Score of 158.1.

Best Tanks for Mythic+ This Week
This week's top-performing tank is Vengeance Demon Hunter with an Average Score of 165.3. In 2nd place is Brewmaster Monk (164.4). The third is Guardian Druid. The worst tanks are Protection Warrior and Protection Paladin.

Dunegorger Kraulok is up this week and drops Slightly Damp Pile of Fur, so don't forget to head to Vol'dun and defeat the world boss for a chance at Mollie.
Slightly Damp Pile of Fur is one of the Alpaca mounts added in Visions of N'Zoth. It has a small chance to drop from Dunegorger Kraulok in Vol'dun. Battle for Azeroth world bosses are on a fixed rotation, so you won't be able to kill Kraulok for a weeks. You can try to kill the world boss on your alts too for an increased chance at Mollie.
"The kind nature of alpacas makes them perfect as companions for the intrepid adventurer."

Mollie the Alpaca mount in WoW.
