Shadowlands Beta Development Notes: October 21st

After a short kind-of break last week due to the pre-patch launch we pre back with bigger Shadowlands beta updates. This week we have a Renown interface improvement, Souldbind changes, and Torghast Vendor additions.

Blizzard LogoDev Notes (source)

This week’s Shadowlands Beta build includes several notable updates that are now ready for testing.

Renown User Interface
This UI has been revamped. It is no longer attached to your Reservoir UI NPC. It now has its own dedicated NPC in your Sanctum. It should be much clearer now what your past and upcoming rewards are, and some rewards on the Renown track have been put in more appropriate places.

Soulbinds
Talents have also been reorganized, and players will find that in most cases, the talent that was previously the final ability is now the starter ability.

In cases where that didn’t happen, the existing talents have been tuned to match the a more-expected power level.

Ve’nari Torghast Items
Ve’nari in the Maw now sells several items that serve as meta-progression for Torghast. You can buy the items and use them, but they aren’t functional in this build. We expect to have all of this functioning as expected in next week’s build.

Thank you very much for your testing and feedback.

Reddit user DallMit found an alternative cool way how to enter the Venthyr Covenant Sanctum in Sinfall using Door of Shadows.
if you go to 25, 43 in Revendreth (Sinfall) you can use the Door of Shadows Covenant Ability to teleport behind the gates and enter the Venthyr Covenant Sanctum.

This is one of those "essential" addon things you really can't do without in Shadowlands. The Maw has been frustrating non Druid/worgen players for days now and will continue to do so, as traveling without a mount gets pretty annoying (despite some creative ways to move around).
But now it's time to not work around that problem, and instead look at just how many times we've pressed the mount button only to hear how cowardly our hundreds of mounts are! Every single one of them, including the constructs, undead, zeppelins, floating disks, they ALL are too afraid of the Maw to help!
So now there's this WeakAura, made by Boneshock, to help us see just how many times we've been disappointed by our companions and tools!

Players have been having a lot of fun with Torghast's anima powers, and it seems many have been playing over the weekend, as we're getting some great clips from the fights! From boss one-shots to some clever use of positioning to ignore most of a bosses abilities, as well as just crazy anima-fueled shenanigans in general, we're taking a look at what players have been up to!

*Apologies if the reddit videos autoplay with sound for you, we can't really change that.
Let's start with the actually funny ones, as this Druid found the perfect, peaceful Druid way to down one of the end-bosses:
Synod in particular has been troubling some specs when they don't get one of the crazier anima power combos, so 13ethr33 decided to do it the old-fasion way, before the game itself gave us cheesy methods via powers:
Then there's the just simply crazy powerful permanently up ones, like the Demon Hunter Immolation combo:
And finally there's the many, many one-shots the various anima combos provide, as well as the just really really fast kills:

There will be plenty more fun to come out of Torghast, with many more anima combinations to be had, as well as the later bosses who should prove even more of a challenge!

While we can't get our first legendary this week, the next reset is coming up very soon so many have been trying to get their legendary memories ready for that. The third boss of the Plaguefall dungeon drops Serpentstalker's Trickery, the best legendary memory for Marksmanship Hunters , currently a very powerful spec, but the drop rate isn't that high.
In comes Rahkir to help Hunters out, as they've put together an easy and fast farm, skipping past everything and even 2-manning the boss! Each run (on Normal) actually only takes less than 4 minutes using Camouflage,  so it shouldn't be a problem to get the memory:

With Shadowlands now live for a couple of days, we're looking at how popular each specialization is based on what players are looking up on Icy Veins.
Welcome to our first Shadowlands preview of specialization popularity in Shadowlands. All the data was gathered based on what the user base looks up on the site. We compare the results with the Shadowlands pre-patch popularity data posted a while ago.
If a specialization lost a position, you would see a red (↓) next to its rank, so if you see, let's say 3. (1↓), it means a class has fallen from rank 1 to 3. If a specialization gained positions, you would see a green (↑) next to its rank. If a specialization remains in the same position, it will have a (→) next to its rank. Most Popular DPS Specializations in Shadowlands
We are highlighting changes in DPS spec popularity based on our previous DPS rankings. Shadow Priest are now the most popular DPS specialization, followed by Frost Mages. Beast Mastery Hunters lost two ranks. Frost Death Knights lost a whopping 7 ranks and dropped from 2nd to 9th position. The least popular DPS specialization are Demonology Warlocks that swapped places with Survival Hunters.
      1. (↑3) Shadow Priest 2. (↑6) Frost Mage 3. (↓1) Beast Mastery Hunter 4. (↑7) Fury Warrior 5. (↑8) Affliction Warlock 6. (↑10) Subtlety Rogue 7. (↑11) Marksmanship Hunter 8. (↑9) Retribution Paladin 9. (↓2) Frost Death Knight 10. (↓5) Havoc Demon Hunter 11. (↑12) Unholy Death Knight 12. (↑13) Balance Druid 13. (↑14) Elemental Shaman 14. (↑21) Arms Warrior 15. (↓4) Destruction Warlock 16. (↑18) Fire Mage 17. (↓15) Enhancement Shaman 18. (↓17) Outlaw Rogue 19. (↓16) Arcane Mage 20. (→20) Feral Druid 21. (↑22) Windwalker Monk 22. (↓19) Assassination Rogue 23. (↑24) Survival Hunter 24. (↓23) Demonology Warlock Most Popular Tank Specializations in Shadowlands
Since our last comparison, Blood Death Knights fell from Rank 1, Protection Warriors went up from 4th position to 1st. Protection Paladin lost two ranks, and the rest remains unchanged.
      1. (↑4) Protection Warrior 2. (↓1) Blood Death Knight 3. (→3) Vengeance Demon Hunter 4. (→4) Protection Paladin  5. (→5) Guardian Druid 6. (→6) Brewmaster Monk Most Popular Healer Specializations in Shadowlands
Last time, we looked at healer popularity with the launch of the Shadowlands pre-patch. Holy Paladins lost 1 rank and are currently 4th. Restoration Shamans climbed up one rank and are currently 3rd. Restoration Druids remain the most popular healer specialization based on guide views on our site, followed by Discipline Priests.
      1. (→1) Restoration Druid 2. (→2) Discipline Priest 3. (↑4) Restoration Shaman 4. (↓3) Holy Paladin 5. (→5) Holy Priest 6. (→6) Mistweaver Monk
