Classic Phase 6 is upon us as the patch is live today, with Naxxramas and the Scourge invasion event coming a little later, on December 3rd. But we have the patch notes today:

Blizzard LogoPhase 6 (source)

Shadow of the Necropolis

Floating above the Plaguelands, the necropolis known as Naxxramas serves as the seat of one of the Lich King’s most powerful officers, the dreaded lich Kel’Thuzad. Horrors of the past and new terrors yet to be unleashed are gathering inside the necropolis as the Lich King’s servants prepare their assault. The Scourge marches again…

Items and Content

This patch includes the following new pursuits:

  • Being exalted with your Warsong Gulch faction now offers epic-quality leg gear.
  • Crafted nature resist pieces are now available with Cenarion Circle reputation.
  • Nature resist enchants for leg and head gear are now available from Zul’Gurub.
  • Several skill books for new skill ranks (Frost Ward, Shadow Ward, Flame Shock, Conjure Food, Eviscerate, Ferocious Bite) are obtainable.
  • There are now PvP objectives in Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands.
  • An Epic nature resist ring is available from a quest to kill an Elemental Lord in Cenarion Hold.
  • The Argent Dawn token system offers a way for players to earn gear by turning in components at Light’s Hope Chapel.

Bug Fixes

  • Many helpful auras and buffs that improve Attack Power now properly apply to Ranged Attack Power.
    • Developers’ notes: This was an issue that was the result of a technical limitation in original World of Warcraft that was fixed in later updates to the game. During internal testing we discovered that this issue also affected the Paladin and Shaman 6-piece Tier 3 set bonuses, and in fixing that, we decided to also fix it in many other situations where buffs and auras should affect Ranged Attack Power.
  • Resolved an issue that caused the Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether to sometimes stop functioning for Priests talented into Spirit of Redemption after logging out and back into the game with the trinket equipped.
  • Resolved an issue that caused the Shaman talent Improved Weapon Totems to not apply its damage improvements to other players in the Shaman’s party.
    • Developers’ notes: This talent was introduced late in original World of Warcraft and behaved in this unintended way until the beginning of Burning Crusade. It was considered a bug at that time, and will now be resolved here, as was originally intended.
  • Fixed some terrain exploits in Booty Bay that allowed players to grief players arriving or leaving via Flight Masters with no fear of reprisal from guards or other players.
  • Resolved an issue that caused the Mail recipient auto-complete filter to behave in a frustrating way when attempting to send a mail to someone who shares a similar name with a member of your current guild.
  • Stabling a pet with Prowl active no longer prevents other pets with Prowl from using the same ability.
  • Resolved an issue that caused a Hunter’s Auto Shot ability to occasionally experience a slight delay on recast if its cast was interrupted by Aimed Shot.
  • Hunter and Warlock pets will now correctly attack nearby enemy PvP targets when set to aggressive.
  • Hunter and Warlock pets may now correctly “detect” nearby enemy PvP targets in stealth.
    • Developer’s notes: In Original WoW, Hunter pets worked similar to mobs in that they could detect stealth players that passed nearby in their line of sight and would “snap” to face the enemy if they partially detected them. Additionally, pets would even attack enemy players in stealth if they came close enough to be fully detected, provided the pet was set to aggressive. This behavior has been restored.
  • Fixed a bug with the Scarab Brooch item that prevented the Persistent Shield proc from this item from applying to new targets in certain scenarios.
  • Resolved an issue that caused Bloodthirst to not always benefit from +Attack Power gained from items.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented the Bind-on-Equip Epic item The Lion Horn of Stormwind from being able to drop.
  • Fixed an art issue with the Conqueror’s Spaulders and Avenger’s Pauldrons to display a less-vibrant color palate than intended.
  • Many items such as Hammer of Northern Wind, Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, and Nightfall may now proc while the wielder is under the effects of a Global Cooldown.
  • Resolved several terrain exploits in Warsong Gulch that were being used to unfairly stall games.
  • Resolved several terrain exploits in Arathi Basin that were used to reach unintended areas of the map.
  • Resolved an issue that caused partial resists to Damage-over-Time effects to snapshot for the entire duration of the DoT effect.
  • Enslave Demon now appropriately fades from a Warlock’s Infernal when the controlling Warlock dies.
  • Resolved an issue that caused neutral guards to attack PvP targets affected by the initial impact of the Inferno spell rather than the Warlock who initiated the attack.
  • Resolved an issue that caused certain raid and boss monsters to be incorrectly affected by stat-modifying debuff effects such as Vindication and Scorpid Sting.
  • The epic trinket Jom Gabbar may now correctly be activated in Shapeshift forms.
  • Fixed a visual issue with several items such as Gaea’s Tunic that were using incorrect geometry and appearing incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a Lua error to occur when adjusting Max Foreground or Max Background FPS in the system settings menu.
  • Resolved an issue that caused Blocked damage to not be reported correctly in the advanced combat log.
  • The Crystal of Zin-Malor no longer snapshots its damage on equip and now correctly has damage variance.
  • Resolved an issue that caused some creatures in the world to not play appropriate audio when attacking or using abilities.

Blizzard sent out surveys to players about The Burning Crusade Classic, where they asked about the preferred transition from Classic to TBC, a new "fresh" Classic realm, and more. MadSeasonShow conducted his own research, and here are the poll results.
More than 12k people participated in the survey so far and answered 3 key questions.
Q1: How Likely Are You to Play a "Classic" version of The Burning Crusade?
More than 83% voted they are (very) interested in Classic TBC. The remaining 17% said they aren't excited.

Q2: Thinking about the potential ways a player could start a character in "Classic" Burning Crusade, which of the following would you prefer the most?
43% of players would like to continue playing their existing Classic character on their existing server as it progresses through to the Burning Crusade with an option to transfer to a Classic server that will never progress beyond level 60.
Almost 23% would prefer to start a brand new character from level 1 on a new Burning Crusade server.
16% would like to continue playing their current Classic character on their existing server that will never progress past level 60, with the option to transfer to a Burning Crusade server.
Finally, 15% would prefer if new characters on a Burning Crusade server started at level 58.

Q3: Where do you think you would spend more of your time?
The final question's goal was to find out where players would spend their time after the launch of TBC Classic.
85% would spend it playing on a Burning Crusade realm, 7.5% would prefer a "fresh start" WoW Classic realm with all content reset to Day 1. Almost 7% would play both equally.

In the "things I wish I'd known earlier" category, we have the fact that you can actually get the Spirit of Zandalar World buff even while you're dead!
As spotted by Crypthomie, you still need to be on the island as is normal, in ghost form, but this is a much safer way to get it. Unfortunately it doesn't last through death (although it did back in Vanilla, before the 1.12 reference patch Classic was built on) so you'll still need to get out of there alive after you get it, and it's a little unclear if your actual dead body has to be on the island or if you can just stroll in as ghost, get the buff and go back to your safely tucked away corpse! Obviously this also means you'll have to get the ZG buff first on your World buff list, but that's a smaller inconvenience than potentially losing it to PvP shenanigans.
For an even quicker escape with your dead-buff, wiklunds has a pretty solid method:

Here come some big spell batching changes to the Classic PTR, with a huge rediction in the batch window:
      PTR 1.13.7 (source)
Today, we’ve opened the WoW Classic Public Test Realm (PTR) to test version 1.13.7 of WoW Classic. In this upcoming version, we intend to reduce the spell batching delay.
There are numerous class abilities and spells from Original World of Warcraft that were re-implemented in WoW Classic with spell batching in mind, and we initially expect bugs or adverse consequences with spell batching reduced. In this PTR, testers have an opportunity to join us in finding such issues. Raids and battlegrounds are available in this PTR to facilitate testing in a wide variety of game content.
Initially, the spell batch window is set to 10 milliseconds on the 1.13.7 PTR, a reduction from the 1.13.6 live window of 400 milliseconds. Please use the in-game bug reporter (default hotkey: mouseover+F6) in the PTR to submit your bug reports or feedback on abilities with spell batching reduced.
      8
When logged into the PTR, you can mouse over any item, spell, or talent and press the assigned hotkey to initiate a bug report for that item or spell. Bug reports created in this way include valuable metadata about the spell, your talents, and your player-state when the bug is submitted.
If you’ve unbound your “Open Bug Report” hotkey, you can rebind it in Keybindings -> PTR.
      5
If you wish to discuss class issues related to this update with other players, we’ve opened a new discussion thread in the WoW Classic Bug Report forum here 34.
Thank you for testing WoW Classic with us!

Salad Bakers have cleared Naxxramas in WoW Classic under 60 minutes. This is the fastest speed clear of the raid so far. Congratulations!
Salad Bakers have beaten their own record (1 hour 3 minutes 56 seconds) by a couple of minutes and the guild cleared Naxxramas in 59 minutes and 44 seconds!

Here's a video of their speed clear. As TehBananaBread pointed out, a boss died every 4 minutes, which is insane!

As the Castle Nathria RWF is going on we thought it was time to share the spotlight, as another, equally as impressive and dedicated group of players has taken down the antagonist of many low level players. You can see top level raid leading, the tactics and strategies below, as things get very hairy at the end, with all cooldowns popped and the tank having to kite!
Unfortunately for the pro group above, this isn't the World First, as it's actually been done before - by a single player:
Whether this is "end of expansion" type activity or just some usual clean fun, it's always great to see players just doing their own thing and finding their own fun in WoW!
