Upcoming Class Tuning for January 12th

Blizzard is working on buffs for underperforming classes that will go live on January 12.

Blizzard Logo(Source)

We’re testing some adjustments to underperforming classes that we intend to make with weekly resets (on January 12 in this region).

Classes

  • Death Knight
    • Blood
      • Bone Shield Bone Shield grants armor equal to 70% of Strength (was 50%).
    • Frost
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
  • Mage
    • Frost
      • All damage abilities increased by 9%.
  • Monk
    • Windwalker
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
    • Brewmaster
      • All damage is increased by an additional 2% while a two-handed weapon is equipped.
  • Rogue
    • Assassination
      • All damage abilities increased by 8%.
  • Warrior

PVP

  • Players will now drop PvP flags if they cast Podtender Podtender (including Temple of Kotmogu orbs).
    • Note: this fix will be applied to the live game as soon as possible, before the weekly reset.

As always, the changes above (with the exception of the Podtender fix) are a work in progress, and may differ before they go live. We’ll have the final tuning noted in our Hotfixes Update post next week.

"Underperforming classes". Yet no Mistweaver changes. 😞

That was my thought exactly when I saw the Monk changes. Working with my MW is a slog and has greatly dampened my interest in her.

Are they *filtered* with me right now?! Another lousy 8% for fury and not even for all skills and onm top of that a nerf to a talent which isn't even used?! *filtered* off, blizzard. I'm playing arms atm, wearing about 208 ilvl and I deal half the damage of a shadow priest on patchwork fights. This can't be real.

This is more than welcome for me. One first step to a better balance along with the damagebuff before.

8% is huge. That like, boosts Fury from bottom tier to mid by itself, imo

I have no idea in which world you live in but even if you'd deal 3k DPS with around NHC or around Heroic Raid gear, or maybe even 4k DPS it would only deliver 240 to 360 more DPS - topping you with about 3.5 to 4.5k roughly rounded. That's still a lot less than people with proper tuned classes do.

Agreed, but I do think that they are buffing some specs slowly so as to not have to dramatically peel back later if they go too far.

end of fight, unholy dks pets dealing more dps than frost dk entire dps, how is that possible? and you guys buff the 2h with 2%??

the whole heroic/mythic progression is purely trash with balances, unholy dks, mm hunters etc leading the tops, every guild is doing the raids with 3 melee (3 unholy dks to be more precise) and 123123 ranges, leaving classes like FROST DK on bench, now what am I supposed to do? dump all the soul ash used to craft 1 lvl 3 and 1 lvl 2 legendries and start playing one of the meta classes? (not to mention all the used gold, but bilzz like people buying tokens, yes yes) TRASH

I stubbornly main frost DK, and while I *think* part of the class' problem is scaling I'm not sure they don't need just a bit more than this.

A fury buff of 8% damage is not going to fix enrage procs, its a small increase and does not fix core problems with the class itself. They need to correct stat breakpoints for rotation on haste and increase enrage time as well as enrage proc. This is not fixing the spec, its just padding the numbers for lazy players and ticking fury mains off. I've mailed fury for several progressions and this is by far the worst the class has ever felt being played. Come to me when you're ready to fix fury.

The problem is not that they buff them too slowly but rather in the wrong fashion. When fury lost cold steel hot blood from the azerite pieces, it wasn't replaced. The new talents made the spec a lot slower with low haste on top of that. Both, rampage and CSHB were our main dps sources and without them paced correct, we will never deal damage. They would need to change the formula of how damage of our swings is calculated or how much atk-% is taken for the damage calculation.
Long story short, we need something else besides rampage to deal damage. The old talents from BfA and maybe a longer duration for rampage. 5 Seconds is just too damn short with the long GCD.

They have broke the twisted  corridors in the last patch. Level 2 Floor 17 mobs started hitting for 65K plus normal hits. 3 times in  a row with 158K HP I was 2 shot by the  archer normal mobs and 1 shot by a massive strike from one of the sentinels. Until floor 17 everything was normal.

The boost sale communities have taken it up a notch, as basically taking over Trade Chat and Group Finder (despite the latter being against ToS) wasn't enough, and they're resorting to some very low-tech ways.
Unfortunately this isn't one of the actually funny corpses spelling out a site name stories, but a really annoying one, as players have been receiving in-game spam mail!

      Source.
This has been going on for quite a while, but we thought we'd highlight it, especially since the above is an actual real-money operation and not one of the more frequent gold-based ones. Aside from the very concept being borderline insane (who in their right mind would go to an outside site based on getting in-game spam mail?), it's also pretty damn annoying. Apparently being constantly inundated by advertising spam in basically every channel on Azeroth and having to sift through dozens of ads in the group finder wasn't enough, and now we need to hire goblins and gnomes to create a physical spam filter on our mailboxes! Suffice it to say that even before this became a thing the ads were getting out of hand and most players are very much fed up with them, so this really is the cherry on top of a really bad sundae.
Have you received one of these in the past?

If you use your Hearthstone while lying down, your character will also arrive lying down where you've set your Hearthstone.
This one's a little ridiculous. A while back, we posted an article on how to hearth efficiently in WoW and learned that you should face in the direction you want to move after hearthing when setting your Hearthstone because most of us do so facing the innkeeper.
It turns out you can use the Hearthstone while lying down, and the funny part is that you will also arrive lying down at the inn!
Kudos to flyingbookworm for the screenshot.

The "elevator boss" running gag got a lot more serious in Revendreth, at least with War Mode on, as there have been some existential fights happening over there for a while now. There's also a lot of mystery surrounding how they actually work, as the "mechanism" that seems to power them might just be a cover.
Pavle decided to take possession of one of Revendreth's elevators and charge a fee to use it, the fee being your life.
That poor, poor paladin! This isn't anything new, of, course, as players have been using the elevators for some damn good PvP since launch!
But it's not just the players and their PvP antics that are troublesome, as the elevators themselves, like all of Revendreth, just don't seem quite... right.
Meanwhile the LITERAL elevator boss is probably just standing there shaking his head at all the carnage and malfunctions:

We have another intrepid traveler deciding to boycott the flight masters and make their own way across the Shadowlands!
We already know all the Shadowlands realms are actually on 1 connected map, and we've even seen low level characters glide into the Maw from Ardenweald, but that was a strictly downward trajectory! This time we're going up, to the very top of Oribos, and we're using fairy dust to do it! Hezerd went VERY far up in the weald and then proceeded to Demon Hunter glide/Fel Rush/goblin glide over into the Arbiter's room in Oribos!

It's possible to grab all Torghast Legendary Power recipes from Twisting Corridors, and there's no need to wait for the individual wings to become available each week.
If you run Twisting Corridors, you will randomly get 1 out of the 6 Torghast wings, so if you queue up for Layer 3+ and zone into the wing you need, all you need to complete is the first 6 floors to get the Legendary Power you want.
If you do not get the wing where the desired Legendary Power drops the first time, you can zone in and out until you get the one you need.
      Example
As a Frost Mage, I want Slick Ice, which drops in Mort'regar, so I zone in and out of Twisting Corridors until I receive Mort'regar and finish the first 6 floors to get the Legendary Power recipe.
We are listing all Legendary Powers that come from Torghast's 6 wings below. You can find more details about crafting Legendary items in our Runecarving guide.
