Aiming at Keystone Master with "Bad"/Non-meta Specs Project

Recommended Posts

We have a cool project to check out, with Dungeon Disasters deciding to take on the Shadowlands Keystone Master: Season One Shadowlands Keystone Master: Season One achievement with specs the community/min-maxers/the meta considers bad or that are the least played. This is just the start of the journey, with a +10 clear with commentary at a low item level (sub-200) with basically new characters, but it's a cool thing to aim for for!

So what specs did the group choose? Well, you'll definitely recognize them from the bottoms of the popularity lists and logs, as we have Assassination Rogue, Frost DK and Beast Mastery Hunter for the DPS, with Prot Warrior and Holy Priest for the tank and healer slots. This first video is of a +10 Mists of Tirna Scythe:

A few weeks ago my friends and I decided to put together a group of the least played or what we saw as the worst performing classes and try to get Keystone Master for World of Warcraft's Season 1 Mythic Plus season
...

It should be really interesting especially with the experience discrepancy in the group. Currently, I think we should be fairly safe timing 10-12s on most weeks, but some dungeons are definitely going to be more challenging than others and most of us being sub-200 ilvl isn't doing us a ton of favors lol. This will be the first week we start pushing with multiple 10s so I'm really interested to see how it goes. We plan to upload most keys that are IO for us as well as depletes that show a learning moment or are close to the timer

It'll be interesting to see how the project evolves and whether they make it, but it's always a good message to spread that you really can do most content, perhaps not the bleeding edge, with any spec if you work at it and improve (or are already really good at it). Because really that is, or at least should be, a huge part of the enjoyment of the game.

Well this description isn't really acurate
Prot Warri isn't really bad it just lost its overpowered dps advantage from bfa thats why its not meta anymore
and Veng DH is simply in the spot where prot warri was in bfa overpowered dps

so in terms of surv prot warrior isn really bad its just no longer op so pls stop saying or spreading this non sense

non meta ofc meta is the op class or unbalanced class but that doesn't mean that everything else is bad

Your statement isn't entirely accurate either. The primary reason Protection is at the bottom of the lists isn't because of losing your so-called overpowered dps advantage, but the fact that Protection has very, very few kiting tools. Higher Keys favor tanks who are capable of both kiting and have strong defensives, and Protection Warriors are just severely lacking in this department. This is also why Blood is trending towards the bottom of the tanks; next to Warriors, they are a very slow spec movement-wise, and not even their usually potent defensive abilities are going to keep them alive. Paladins and Druids are fairly close to middle-of-the-pack; while both have only a few options for kiting, they have defensive cool downs that are extremely strong and usable often. Meanwhile, Vengeance and Brewmaster are among the top tanks because they have constant mobility and don't have to try and facetank mobs. Vengeance also has the plus of crazy damage numbers, which means they keep threat easier than BM does. While this is a nice experiment and I'd like to see where it goes, the reality is that the group probably isn't going to clear some dungeons at +15 with a Protection Warrior. This is simply a flaw with how the game is designed right now.

I got friends who play protection, holy, and beast, and we can clear 14-15s, so 10s should be pretty doable, assuming sufficient mastery of the classes, cooperation, and covenant distribution. Between the extra powers of the affiliated covenants and class cooperation (binding shot, tar traps, priest bounce back, priest pull, heroic jump), 10s should be clearable, maybe even fun, as you won't be able to cheese through the mechanics. All the best!

well you can get 3 leaps with the legendary so they can kite very well, also they have intervene that is another kite tool, with the right grp on the right hands you can clear +15s with any tank/healer, i have seen tank warriors doing +15 already with no problem even with a crappy dps doing 3k dps, other than that you are right about the rest of tank specs.

Leap, intervene, fear, AoE stun, slows, binding shot, chains of ice, tar trap, ST stunx3, blind, cheap shot, leap of faith?

Even without leggo's / covenents to help there's plenty of kiting in this set up, 15's will be fine. Plus gear enough and even 15's can be face tanked for a short period.

Personally I thought blood was the worst of the tanks but could understand not wanting 2 dk's.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
