Activision Blizzard apparently plans to lay off even more of its employees and consolidate its EU publishing offices to the UK.

Activision Blizzard's CEO Bobby Kotick is set to receive a $200-million bonus. On the other side of the spectrum, the company recently laid off approximately 190 employees who worked in the Esports / live departments due to the ongoing pandemic.

Further layoffs are imminent as the company plans on consolidating its European publishing functions to a main hub in the UK.

Quote

"We have shared plans with our teams in Europe for how we would evolve as an organization, adapting to this change to serve our players and best positioning the region for future growth. We will be taking extensive steps to support all employees and ease the transition for those of our colleagues who might be impacted by these proposed changes."

According to Games Industry, the layoffs will affect Activision Blizzard offices in Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and 2 offices in the Netherlands.

The cuts are said to be limited to publishing functions and won't impact development, live ops and customer support representatives.

I feel sorry for J. Allen Brack.

Everyone who was involved in creating the franchises is long gone, which is actually normal for developers and studios. Their heirs made great games, but not that great to compete in the modern gaming society. They simply live off a legacy. And Brack has to carry the burden.

I'm not a fan, but Epic Games have what it takes these days. They are adapted to the modern age of gaming, yet they do it their own way. They are successful and give Gamers what they want. At least for now.

"So, yeah, we don't have enough people to develop WOW expansions in proper ways and time, but will keep firing employees and charging stupid amounts of money for everything. Btw, here's Arthas 2.0, with the lamest character ever created."
