Chronoboon World Buff Saver Details from the PTR

The World Buff saving addition to Vanilla Classic has already arrived on the PTR and players have been playing around with it to see what the rules and limitations are. While not all of the mechanics uncovered seem to be intended and there's definitely some bugs present with the new item, there's a lot of information to go through. Also to note: this item will NOT be available in Burning Crusade Classic, where all World Buffs will be removed when a raid encounter starts.

First things first, it costs 10 gold and is a 1-use item, so you'll need to buy one every time you want to save your buffs.

The Chronoboon Displacer turns into the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer once you use it to store the buffs, which you can then use to restore them back:

And once the buffs are saved it looks like this, with the buffs eligible including Sayge's Fortune Darkmoon Faire and Rend buffs (in addition to the expected Onyxia, flower, ZG, DM ones), but not including Zanza and Silithus buffs.

Probably most importantly: once you save your buffs, you will NOT lose them if you die with them saved. So it not only saves the time ticking down on the buffs but also protects them until you are ready to use them.

Unfortunately however, you cannot add buffs to already saved ones, even if you wait 1 hour on the initial Chronoboon Displacer cooldown. You will receive the "You have too many of that item already" message if you try to use it again while having buffs saved, as it is trying to create the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer and you already have it.

The more important part is that the original Chronoboon Displacer which saves the buffs will also go on a 1 hour cooldown when you release the buffs with its supercharged version, meaning you would have to lose an hour from your saved buffs in order to save more/add to your released ones.

There is a way to add buffs on the PTR currently, however, but it's most likely a bug - the cooldown on the Chronoboon Displacer actually expires while you're offline. This means that right now you can get a few buffs, save them, move elsewhere safely, release them, log out and wait an hour (while time passes on the Chronoboon cooldown but NOT on your actually active World Buffs), log back in to pick up the new buffs and then save all of them (and then you can repeat the process at will). This is most likely a bug so you'll probably only be able to save one set of buffs, meaning you'll have to either get fully buffed then save, or get some buffs and save them, then get the rest just before the raid.
 

The bugs

There are currently some 99% likely unintended interaction with the aura/item, as some players have been able to have a buff stored and active at the same time, something that was explicitly stated as not possible in the blue post, as well as the ZG buff actually popping and buffing nearby players whenever it was released from saved/suspended state. You can also currently use it during combat, even while autoattacking, despite the 5 second cast time. The biggest most likely bug we've already mentioned, with the timer on the Chronoboon Displacer actually ticking down while the character is offline. (Source: Eredun).

 

This is still clearly in the early stages and there's plenty of bugs to clean up and rules to determine here, but we do get a pretty good idea of the intention between how it works on the PTR and the blue post. This seems to be a pretty good quality of life improvement for Vanilla Classic, especially going into the long run of it remaining in Phase 6 basically forever.

      Chronoboon Displacer
      Players who complete Chromie’s quests in Andorhal can obtain an ancient artifact of Bronze Dragonflight magic. Use the Chronoboon Displacer to store any world buffs such as Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer, Warchief’s Blessing, and Spirit of Zandalar for later use. Click the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer to restore your buffs with their previous remaining durations intact. You may not benefit from additional world buffs until you have restored any that you currently have stored in the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer. Gameplay Adjustments
      Beneficial buff priority system Beneficial buffs are now prioritized, similarly to how debuffs have been prioritized. This should help prevent situations where limited-duration or low impact buffs such as Renew, Rejuvenation, or 6-piece set bonuses would “push off” important buffs such as Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer or Flask of the Titans when used on a player that is near the buff limit. Mark of the Champion, Rune of the Dawn, and Seal of the Dawn’s benefits are now marked as “passive” auras and will no longer count towards the player buff cap. Spell batching removed The 400ms “spell batch” window has been reduced to 10ms. This should cause most player abilities to behave in a more responsive way, with damage and healing applied to targets faster. Certain operations in the game now resolve faster, such as purchasing multiple quantities of items from vendors rapidly. Paladin seals will now persist on the Paladin for a very short time after they’re replaced by a different seal, so that “seal twisting” remains possible. Naxxrammas
      There is now no area of the raised platform in Heigan the Unclean’s encounter space that is safe from Heigan’s mana burn while Heigan himself is on the platform. Fixed a few areas in the Heigan the Unclean encounter space where Plague Waves could overlap and deal double damage. Items
      Made several fixes and improvements to the combat behavior of guardians summoned from items such as the Vanquished Tentacle of C’thun, Defender of the Timbermaw, and Arcanite Dragonling to make them more likely to engage in combat in a wider variety of situations. Shadow Oil and Frost Oil can now proc while the player is on the Global Cooldown. Developers’ note: Shadow Oil is still bound by an internal cooldown however, and this is intended. Resolved an issue that caused the Barov Peasant Caller trinket to only spawn 1 Peasant. Resolved several issues with the Eye of the Dead trinket: Spells such as Chain Heal and Prayer of Healing now only consume a single charge.       We have a new record for a Naxxramas clear in Classic, and it's a solid 3.5 minutes faster than the previous one, with a completely insane and game-changing approach!
      We've seen the 50 minute barrier get broken during last month's Raid Masters tournament, but now we have a regular clear (well, an extraordinary clear really) by Progress who have gotten the run down to 45 minutes and 18 seconds! And to top it all off there's the insane 24 SECOND Sapphiron kill to go with it (usually Sapph takes about 2 minutes for other speed runs):

      By carrying the Thaddius Polarity Shift buff (which can give up to 190% increased damage) with them to Sapph (by waiting with the Thaddius kill until he cast a fresh Polarity Shift), they managed to get some insane amount of DPS. They also had to use Light of Elune to keep everyone alive, as they all had to stack in top of the tank, so he'd get the damage buff and have a chance at keeping aggro. But that's not all, as 38 players had to use Flask of Petrification (which gives damage immunity) to remove the Thaddius buff without dying and preserving their World Buffs.

      Huge congratulations to Progress on this truly amazing and innovative strategy, and it's really great to see that there's always new and crazy things we can expect, even from a literally 16+ year old piece of content!

      Here comes another potential change for Classic, this one affecting only Chinese servers as the WoW Token has made an appearance!
      MrGM spotted the addition with the new Burning Crusade Classic build, as the token showed up on the Auction House with the "China Only" parenthesis:
      The WoW Token was added to the game back in Warlords of Draenor, and while it has allowed many to extend their game time by simply playing the game itself, it is also very widely used by bots to extend their play time, as they have access to large amounts of gold.
      While this is only the beta and only the China region, where playing habits are different, players have been very concerned with the addition of the character level boost and group finder additions, with many predicting the token is next in line to be added.
      It does seem unlikely that Blizzard would add the token to Classic in the West (at least for now), it's interesting to see it show up on this side of the servers with a clear "China only" marker, making it at least look like Blizzard is testing the waters to see player reactions to its addition.

      A new build went live on the Burning Crusade Beta, and here's what's new.
      Gear Vendors Removed
      Blizzard has removed Flaskataurs (vendors)  that offered free gear for testing.
      New Premade Realm
      Blizzard added a new realm called Badge of Justice, where players can create premade Level 70 characters, likely for the upcoming raid testing. For now, the realm remains offline.

      Item Changes
      Two items have been changed on the Beta. Drakefist Hammer and Annihilator are now Main Hand only. Previously, the items could be used in both hands.

      Vendor Changes
      Ge'ras in Shattrath no longer sells Primal Nether for Badges of Justice, the currency obtained from Heroic Dungeons.
