Huge Spoilers About the Sylvanas Encounter in Patch 9.1

Today, we're looking at how we think the showdown between Sylvanas and us will look like in Chains of Domination based on the data available in the game.

In the first build of Patch 9.1, we datamined a new Sylvanas Banshee model that she uses during the Battle for Ardenweald 9.1 Intro Scenario and the new raid.

Here's what the Encounter Journal reveals about the fight and its stages.

Quote

Stage One: A Cycle of Hatred

"We have forgotten what makes us strong."

Players battle against Sylvanas atop Torghast while the Jailer remains elusive.

Intermission: A Monument to our Suffering

"You are unfit to wear this crown"

Upon reaching 80% health, Sylvanas chains all players with Domination Chains, then casts Rive, destroying the tower itself.

Stage Two: The Banshee Queen

"What are we if not slaves to this torment?"

Sylvanas enters Banshee Form, taking to the skies to waylay players' pursuit of the Jailer as he ascends. Thrall and Jaina lend their aid by casting Call Earth and Channel Ice, respectively, but must be kept free from interruptions while doing so.

Stage Three: The Freedom of Choice

"Nothing can stop what is to come."

Sylvanas follows the players' traversal, greeting them for the final showdown between Death and inevitability in the Jailer's master plan.

Based on in-game maps and the Encounter Journal Overview, it is certain we will start the fight against Sylvanas in an area called Pinnacle of Domination.

Here's the map of the Pinnacle of Domination area in the raid.

The area is located atop Torghast.

Sylvanas enters her Banshee Form and takes it to the skies during the fight. We chase her in a new area, where we see chains stretching all the way from Torghast to Oribos. This area also has a new map in the game files.

Finally, the skybox changes and we enter the Crucible in Oribos, a third area, where the fight probably ends.

The third "Crucible" area also has a map in the raid. At this point, it is safe to assume that the fight involves the Arbiter, who is still dormant. Maybe we're in for a Mythic-only phase that involves the Arbiter or the Jailer.

At BlizzCon, Blizzard promised us an epic showdown between us and Sylvanas that will forever change the course of the Shadowlands. What do you think will it be?

They've teased a Sylvannas redeption arc.    While it sickens me to have such hamfistedness, I can only see this ending by a last minute change of heart where she sacrifices for the greater good.    In ways that seem strange and confusing.

"...but it will all make sense once you read the book, "Sylvannas", coming this November to booksellers everywhere!"

I hate to wait until November. They have been setting her up for a whole expansion already. This suggests we'll be like "What just happened there?" and must read the book /wait until Nov/ to find out.

They've been setting her up since the beginning of effing Legion with the tainted transfer of power, meeting with Helya, etc.

And frankly I don't want to buy the book.    We pay $15 a month for the game, and we're expected to pay another chunk that month just to see the story that should be in game?     What happened to the books being tangential stories that don't have any bearing on the main storyline?

Exactly this more confusion and loose ends for those that won't read the book.

It's possible they could go either way, Kerrigan or Illidan. Some great savior story or she remains behind, like Illidan, to watch over Shadowlands.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.
      (Source)
      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
