Castle Nathria 9.0.5 DPS Log Rankings and Analysis, Week 8: Shadow and Arcane Move Up at the Top

Class changes have been hitting the PTR weekly, but live hasn't been calm either, as we have some solid movement at the top in Castle Nathria this week! Shadow and Arcane moved up, with the Priest spec claiming 2nd after a very long time in the top percentiles!

Mythic Rankings

A lot more action at the top this week, with two specs jumping up, as Shadow moved into the top 2 for the first time since very early Shadowlands! The bigger mover is Arcane, which has been very unstable for a long time now, jumping up and down the rankings, but has also hit one of its all-time highs as it moved up 2 spots in 4th, pushing Fire and Elemental down! The relative instability of Arcane comes from it's pretty low parse numbers, as only 1.3K arrived this week, with only Subtlety and Survival getting fewer (around 450 each), so consequently only a few parses can make a big difference in the rankings, especially in the 95th percentile. Assassination went down some after its steady multi-week rise, being passed by Unholy, Frost Mage and Retribution, and the rest rearranged itself accordingly.

Changes come slower and fewer in the more stable all percentiles bracket, so there's nothing new at the top, with the DK specs swapping a place near the middle as Frost goes up. Meanwhile Arcane also moved up here, even more spots actually, from 13th to 9th.

And here's a little commentary on Shadow's sudden rise:

This week we see Shadow rise to 2nd place on the charts, likely due to a rise in the amount of guilds getting to farm-log/parsing territory. As people get more gear bosses just start dying faster and adds that used to be easily paddable now become fodder that is less and less significant the faster they die. For these reasons you are likely to see specs like Shadow that dominate on single target get better over time as a higher percentage of the boss fight is just boss damage.

The spec has not seen any recent changes on live that would explain this slight difference, but there could be more folks starting to swap mains or bring their alts into the raid seeing a rise in the total number of Shadow Priests parsing in Castle Nathria. Nonetheless, the spec is a lot of fun so it's not surprising that more people are trying it out and getting good results with it.

Heroic Rankings, All Percentages

The past few weeks' trend of Assassination rising continues in Heroic, as the spec has gotten up to 4th place, presumably due to more players enjoying it!

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
