Soul Cinders Currency in Patch 9.1: Legendary Upgrade Costs and Drop Amounts

Recommended Posts

Soul Cinders are a new currency used to upgrade Legendary items in Patch 9.1. In this article, we are looking at the upgrade costs, how much Soul Cinders you can get from all the different sources, and how long will it take to upgrade your Legendaries to max rank.

Two New Legendary Ranks

Two new Legendary upgrade ranks have been added in Patch 9.1, allowing players to upgrade their Legendaries further to Item Level 260. A new currency called Soul Cinders is required for the upgrades.

  • Item Level 250 (Rank 5) - Requires 5,150 Soul Ash and 400 Soul Cinders.
  • Item Level 260 (Rank 6) - Requires 5,150 Soul ash and 1,650 Soul Cinders.

Soul Cinder Sources

You can get Soul Cinders from the most dangerous layers of Torghast (9-12), The Tormentors of Torghast weekly event, and Covenant Assaults.

Here's how much Soul Cinders you will get per Torghast wing.

Covenant Assaults reward 100 Soul Cinders per completion. You will also receive 50 Soul Cinders from the Tormentors of Torghast weekly event.

How Long Will It Take to Upgrade Legendaries in Patch 9.1?

Upgrading to Rank 5 should take approximately 1 week since you can get 360 Soul Cinders from Torghast, 50 from the weekly Tormentors event, and 100 from Covenant Assaults, for a total of 510 Soul Cinders each week.

You will be able to upgrade your Legendary on Week #4 of Patch 9.1 since you need 1,650 Soul Cinders for the upgrade but can only gather 510 each week.

If you have a R4 leggo, do you still need the ash to get to R5/6 or is that just crafting from scratch?

I've not bothered with torg past R2/3 leggo's on most alts, only 1 char has 1 r4 for me, so gotta get grinding again at some point I guess...

Rank 1 to 4 you use Soul Ash to craft/upgrade and Soul Cinder to upgrade to rank5 and 6. Doing the layers 9 to 12 will reward all the Soul Ash from layer 1 to 8 with the respective Soul Cinder amount. The same way it works right now, doing a layer rewards you all the previous layers Soul Ash.

That describes how it happens without actually answering the question.

I am assuming, if you have R4, you only need cinders to upg to R5/6, but if you don't you need the ash to go to w.e to R4 + cinders for R5/6. I was looking to see if anyone has been able to confirm that.

From this post, it looks like you'll need 5150 additional soul ash per upgrade, along with the required soul cinders. But I'm not sure if that's intended to be worded that way. If so, then they'll need to drop a lot more soul ash in Torghast to be able to upgrade to Rank 5 in one week.

How it not answer the question if I'm literally saying that you use Soul Cinder to upgrade to Rank 5 and 6? Is a new currency for the next patch, all new stuff on new patch use new currency.

The post confuse because it says "Item Level 250 (Rank 5) - Requires 5,150 Soul Ash and 400 Soul Cinders.", what is the value of craft, not upgrade cost.

Yes, is true, I overextended the explanation because I thought it worth to be remembered.

Dragonriding has been extremely well received, and is probably one of the best additions to WoW since its launch, with players flying around and enjoying themselves immensely. However, with new highs must come new lows as well, and a new villain has shown their face (and it's not just the fact that dragonriding doesn't work outside the Dragon Isles). Forget elevator bosses, we have a brand new environmental hazard that's out to get us!
That last turn to the camera is especially great.
This seems to be a pretty wide-spread "problem", as the community is having some fun with it.

Have you had any tree problems or have one specific tree-nemesis you keep running into?

We're looking at how to get the Scrappy Worldsnail mount in Dragonflight.
It will take approximately 2-4 hours to farm materials for the mount. The prerequisite is to complete one of the side-quests in the Waking Shores called "The Shadow of His Wings." Below, you will find a map with the exact coordinates for the starter quest.
The intro quest can be found at 39.81 47.85.

Once you complete four quests in this area, head to the Obsidian Citadel and pick between Wrathion or Sabellian, it does not matter which one you select.
Now you must kill mobs near Obsidian Citadel and loot 30 Key Fragments along with 3 Key Framing to combine them into a Restored Obsidian Key. You must hand the first key to Wrathion, but any subsequent keys can be given to IIgys the Believer.
Once you hand that in, you will receive a Twilight Cache. Inside the cache is Worldbreaker Membership which puts a buff on you and lasts for two days. The item does not have a guaranteed chance to drop, however. If you die, you will lose the Worldbreaker Membership debuff and must start from the beginning, so don't die!
The debuff allows you to loot items from djardin NPCs called Magmotes; a currency used to purchase the mount. At this point, you can go to Premade Groups and search for Keys of Loyalty because there will be many people farming in the area.
You should keep handing in keys and fragments, providing additional Magmotes. Once you have 1,000 Magmotes, head to Dealer Vexil and buy Slumbering Worldsnail Shell. The vendor is located in a cave with the entrance at 35.99 47.82 in the Waking Shores. You must first complete "The Shadow of His Wings" questline for the vendor to become Friendly.

MrGM has uploaded a video guide for Scrappy Worldsnail that you can watch below.

You can easily farm 2 Renown (or 5K reputation) with the Dragonscale Expedition by flying to select locations and clicking flags.
Before clicking the flags, don't forget to pick up the +10% Darkmoon Faire buff.
Zone maps from the Reddit post are not embedding, so we're including them below. The maps are a courtesy of Reddit user Gualtieris.

      Ohn'ahran Plains -- 4 Flags

      Azure Span -- 6 Flags

A few moments ago, Doubleagent has reached Level 66 in Dragonflight.
Four levels to go for Doubleagent, who's on the way to reach Level 70 without leaving the Wandering Isle or choosing a faction.
