wow An Accidental Mythic+ 15 Boost?

Here's another weird one from the world of Mythic+, as a player was taking a +15, only to realize/start suspecting they were part of a boost mid-run!

Ans2167 applied to a 4-man group as a tank, and during the run figured out something wasn't right, as one DPS was doing extremely low damage, not interrupting etc. After a quick investigation of the char it seemed likely they had bought all +15s and this was their last one for Keystone Master and that this run might be a boosted one as well! Here's the full story:

Now, it's not 100% certain that this was a boost, as it could have just been a friendly carry, but considering that's still not ok to do, as you can't not mention that when listing the group, it was still a pretty shady bunch of players. But, it still seems more likely that it was in fact a boost run, so let's take a look at some further comments from the tank on the matter:

Yeah I get boosting a friend and that’s totally acceptable, although people would normally advertise it as such in the group finder. I guess this irked me a little more because the group wouldn’t respond at all in chat.

But you’re right, not worth getting salty over. Guess I just want to see the community’s thoughts and whether or not they would actually finish a key as the tank in this scenario.

I was tanking so just had to go along with it as I wanted to fill my vault slots. I was doing more than twice the DPS of the carry DPS and healer combined as a VDH.

[When asked how to spot someone that was boosted:]

You can see the runs a player has done for each dungeon. This particular person had at most 2 keys done for each dungeon, all below a +6 and mostly untimed, and then suddenly had a single timed +15 with very high rio players. You just put 2 and 2 together and see that it’s a boosted player.

They can be truly awful in keys they subsequently join and it really is a selfish way of playing if you intend you join other 15s as an unofficial boost.

I can’t be 100% sure it’s what happened and to be honest it wasn’t a huge deal, just a minor inconvenience and slightly irritating as I expected a quick run.

Tanks can pull ~5k DPS in mists so regardless of group can pretty much always time it. The only issue with this particular run were the bosses as they become a pain as time goes on.

So, was it a boost or wasn't it? And what would you have done in this situation?

i would have not timed the run since they prob paid for a timed run . full on bs they didnt tell the guy before hand

Been in that situation myself. Made certain of it "You guys boosting X" Or "You guys know that X has no M+ experience", then would have just left.

Pretty sure the player tried that but got no response, but yea I'm with ya on this.
