Stat Summary before Reforging and Gemming (no Amplification applied)

Intellect - 26456

Haste - 10121

Mastery - 17091

Crit - 7753

Hit - 3460

Total Red Sockets = 12

Total Yellow Sockets = 2

Total Blue Sockets = 3

Total Primsatic Sockets = 1

Going with an Expertise gemming strategy, let's first reforge out of Hit and see where that puts us...

Neck -407 Hit, +407 Haste

Belt -580 Hit, +580 Haste

Ring -396 Hit, +396 Haste

Total Hit = 3460 - 407 - 580 - 396 = 2077.

+ 12 Expertise/Mastery Gems

+ 1920 Expertise

+ 1920 Mastery

New Hit total = 2077 + 1920 = 3997.

+ 2 Hit/Mastery Gems

+ 320 Mastery

+ 320 Hit

New Hit total = 4317.  Socket bonus on boots + 60 Hit for 4377 total, 723 short of capping.  We can obtain 428 by reforging out of Crit on cloak leaving us 295 short.  Reforging Crit from our Wand, we can obtain 318 Hit rating putting us 21 over the cap, which is very acceptable.

Cloak -428 Crit, +428 Hit

Wand -318 Crit, +318 Hit

New Hit Total = 4377 + 428 + 318 = 5123, or 15.07%

Plugging in last two yellow sockets with Mastery gems

+640 Mastery

Total Stats after reforging and gems

Intellect - 26456 + Socket Bonuses (180, 120, 60, 180, 120, 120, 120, 60, 60) = 27476

Haste - 10121 + 407 + 580 + 396 + Socket Bonuses (60) = 11564

Mastery - 17091 + 640 + 1920 + 320 = 19971

Crit - 7753 - 428 - 318 = 7007

Hit - 5123

Now, let's add enchanting values

OH  +165 Int

Shoulders +200 Int, 100 Crit

Chest +80 Int

Bracers +180 Int

Gloves +170 Mastery

Belt +320 Mastery

Legs +285 Int, 165 Crit

Boots +140 Mastery

Total Stats after reforging, gems, and enchants

Intellect - 27476 + 165 + 200 + 80 + 180 + 285 = 28386

Crit - 7007 + 100 + 165 = 7272

Mastery - 19971 + 170 + 320 + 140 = 20601

One more optimization Reforge - BBoY Haste -> Mastery (putting Mastery on every piece)

-1086 Haste

+1086 Mastery

FINAL STATS WITHOUT AMPLIFICATION

Intellect = 28386

Haste = 11564 - 1086 = 10478

Mastery = 20601 + 1086 = 21687

Crit = 7272

Hit = 5123

FINAL STATS WITH 9.7% AMPLIFICATION

Intellect - 28386

Haste = 10478 * 1.097 = 11494

Crit = 7272

Mastery = 21687 * 1.097 = 23791

Hit = 5123

Remember, this is as strong from a numbers perspective as you will ever be.  Enjoy the hunt of obtaining your BiS pieces!

Note - you can substitute any piece you like in order to obtain a different reforge total.  This maximizes Mastery to its highest value aside from passing on the socket bonus of your ring and boots and gemming 320 Mastery there.  Your total gain would be 320 Mastery at the cost of 60 Haste, 60 Hit (would put you under cap with my reforges), 160 Expertise, and 160 Hit which is, in my opinion, ill-advised.  You can also change the Hit->Haste reforges to Hit->Crit to keep a Haste = Crit mentality.  Swap out any gems you'd like, but I suggest Expertise gemming since only 3 pieces of gear have Hit on them naturally.

Affliction users - feel free to substitute two pieces of gear for higher item level, less Crit, more Haste, and more Mastery.  My suggestion is swapping out the legs and the chest for Heroic Warforged counterparts.

You mean allow 6 upgrades?  No - the beta will/should be in full swing and we'll be looking towards the future.

Those nerfs were 5% in incremental changes.  This is a 12-18% growth in player power, which is, in my opinion, the best way to 'nerf' content.  This type of nerf allows players to continue to grow their own power to take down the same content that was taken down months ago, short of a few minor nerfs.  Item level doesn't trivialize content - raid wide nerfs do.  I wouldn't, however, expect another change for SoO.

Zag, I hate to do this to ya, but there is an HWF inv_bracer_cloth_raidmage_n_01.jpgAvool's Ancestral Bracers.  I can't imagine you meant to choose the heroic version over the HWF, so I thought I'd post.

Nah, it's all good.  Thanks for pointing it out!  Wowhead organizes their items a bit goofy sometimes, so I'll fix that right now.

Yeah, I noticed that as well when I reread my post. I had somehow linked the heroic version myself, hence the edit.

I would not expect any more Nerf via Gear before 6.0.

I also really like Nerfing Via Gear instead of changing the fight.  It may sound silly, but our healers actually struggled after the Thok nerfs since it made a safe transition to kite phase a lot harder.  It changed the whole fight for us.  Instead of Max Acceleration DMG outpacing max HPS and eventually causing your phase change when you stack, their HPS now out paced max acceleration and they had to ramp down healing to allow a transition which left raiders at greater risk of not being healed up enough for the next dmg hit.

Why not inv_boot_cloth_raidwarlock_n_01.jpgBone-Inlaid Sandals instead of the Crit boots?

Better gems and stats

Because I forgot about them.  Might be an EVER so slight upgrade.  Either way, could sub them in.  Won't make a significant difference in the total calculation.

Also, if you use these, you'd still have to use a green or orange gem to cover 160 worth of hit/expertise in order to get to hit cap.  If you swap the boots and put a yellow gem in, you'd be under hit cap.

Indeed.

Or u could Use Hit+Mastery Bracers from Norushen and gets that extra Hit from it.

I tried to get all the hit from gems.  Moving a new piece in would require a whole different reforge.
