Heroic Garrosh 10m Holy Paladin POV

Recommended Posts

I know this may not be appropriate, but our guild finally killed heroic Garrosh. We once started as a 25m guild up and to 13/14H where we killed Klaxxi and then decided to call the guild until next expansion. A group of us decided to continue on and attempt to kill Garrosh before the nerf (tomorrow). Tonight, we finally succeeded. This is my kill video from twitch and I'd like to share. It was a big accomplishment for us and we were happy to have finally killed the last boss of the expansion before any nerfs were done.

The big reason I wanted to share was that this is the Paladin forums that I have made my home recently. I thought I would share with people that I have "attempted" to help. While my playstyle may not be the best (yes I did die at the end when my bubble came off CD :( ) I still felt it was a well performed kill nonetheless. I was really happy with my cooldown rotations and a very nice lay on hands on our tank (and a great swap from our disc priest too prior). I feel like after 350+ attempts, this was a well deserved kill.

Please post any criticisms or feedback that you have on this video. Personally, I take it all constructively and am open to anyone's opinion. If you have not had the opportunity in killing heroic Garrosh, and are motivated to do so before the end of the expansion, I highly suggest. This was a very fun fight overall and a great tier to participate in.

Enjoy.

Gratulations, I can only imagine how hard some of these phases were to get through since I raid 25man with an op dps class^^

OT: Just wondering, why did your 25man raid quit after getting Klaxxi down? In 25 man,  Garrosh stays the same like nhc until P4, everything just needs better execution and positioning. So there is actually no really hard learning curve and you can "train" P4 positioning just before.

We were struggling with attendance towards the end. With the amount of time it took on Siege and Klaxxi respectively, our leaders decided it was time to give everyone a break from the game (considering most of us have been consistently raiding for years). It was a very tough decision and as you can tell with our class makeup alone, a lot of players are taking advantage of this break to recover before WoD.

It was definitely a very interesting fight from 10m POV. We cleared the instance fresh at 10m and found it "easier", but since we never had any attempts on Heroic Garrosh 25m, we never had a way to compare the two difficulties. I do have a new respect for 10m raiding (not that it matters since Mythic will be the new benchmark next tier) with the difficulties of substantially less cooldowns and unable to stack classes. While I still feel 25m raiding has a more epic feel, 10m should still be respected since there is a more accountability aspect of the fight.

I've done both 10m and 25m, and can confidently say that add fixates and transition 1 are more difficult as separate mechanics than Normal Garrosh altogether.  25m is not as simple as they say.

@Geoda

Congrats on the kill!  10m can be a huge pain, because you can't just stack cooldowns through the early weapons.

How did healing feel later in the fight?  I know for us, we always get a bit of a frantic vibe anywhere in or past P3, because the hits are so big and awful.  We also didn't have a Disc the first time we did it, and that stunk.

@Hybrys - We 2 healed the fight with a Holy Paladin (myself) and Disc Priest (Gwenymph). We sat out 2nd intermission, which helped a lot with our healers mana regen. Then, Gwen and I decided that we would have certain "healing roles" during phase 3. After MC's went out, I would focus heal our tank while using a CD to keep him alive while Gwen would start casting his bubbles through the raid. Then when whirling went out, Gwen was in a more central spot to heal the raid who were spread far to mitigate the whirling, while I was closer to the tank single healing. This helped tremendously for our progression during Phase 3. We were able to consistently service and start working on the Iron Star in Phase 4.

The pain was definitely very rewarding, even though we were late, but still before the nerf. I feel we did a good job with the CD's we had and we had great raiders who would help spot heal the raid. Our shadow priest did an awesome life swap to save the tank once. Our ret paladin was quick on his Hand of Sacrifice on the tank when I was on CD, etc etc.

I also had to save my CD's for certain high damage portions of the fight, causing me to use them maybe 1 time less throughout the fight, but had them readily available during big damage.

Good times were had and bromances were consummated.   oops..

I did want to reiterate what Geoda said about P3.  The whirling was giving us fits before we switched up the healing strat.  Letting me ICC spam followed by Glyphed Binding the raid while Geoda kept up his part of the room made a world of difference.  After making that change we no longer lost people to that phase except when an add would get empowered.

All my Disc PoV vids for the Garrosh phases are on the YouTube Channel link in my signature and profile.

Paypal Geoda some love b/c I heard he had to see a back specialist after the kill.  Disc needs to lose some weight.
