Blizzard has posted an official preview of Maw updates that we can expect in Chains of Domination.

The release date of Patch 9.1 has not been revealed yet.

With the nefarious traitor Sire Denathrius dealt with and his stolen anima returned to its rightful owners, the covenants and you are now ready to take on the Jailer himself in the upcoming content update, Chains of Domination.

A HIDDEN WONDER

As part of his ongoing schemes, the Jailer has located a long-lost domain of the Shadowlands—Korthia, the City of Secrets—and dragged it from the hidden byways of the In-Between into the Maw. In this new area, you’ll team up with the covenants under a unified banner to fight against the endless forces of the Jailer, and work to uncover what obscurities he seeks in this forgotten realm.

The prophecies of Korthia foretold of the day when one who walked the Maw would save the Shadowlands from disaster. Perhaps this is that day.
Korthia

Korthia's Inhabitants

Fearsome wildlife roams Korthia, hardened from eons of adaptation. Be on your guard as you explore this primordial land.

Ravenous Scavenger

Ravenous Scavenger

Insatiable hunger drives these creatures to relentlessly pursue their next quarry, either by stealing scraps from other creatures or devouring hapless prey that cross their paths.

Shardhide Mauler=

Shardhide Mauler

Enveloped in calloused hides and armed with vicious claws, these lumbering beasts ferociously fight any who encroach on their territory.

Korthian Attendants

Korthian Attendants

Related to the attendants who preside in Oribos, this long-lost cartel serves to protect the Shadowland’s most ancient secrets.

Frenzied Razorwing

Frenzied Razorwing

Solitary predators, razorwings are feared for their grisly hunting tactics: they swoop down on a target and savagely eviscerate unsuspecting prey.

Hungering Mite

Hungering Mite

Riddling the skies of Korthia, these aberrations swarm targets and drain them of their life-essence.

Korthian Gromit

Korthian Gromit

These docile creatures gracefully hop through the ruins of Korthia, avoiding predators as they forage for food. When threatened, they lash out with whip-like tongues.

COVENANT ASSAULTS

Return to the Maw with the restored strength of the kyrian, necrolords, night fae, and venthyr and together strike back at the Jailer in Covenant Assaults. Twice a week, you can help the covenants’ forces fight the Maw’s monstrosities. Each Assault is led by one covenant and assisted in part by a second covenant, both of which need your help to complete four quests on the battlefront to take over key locations within the Maw. Successfully completing the onslaught will reward you with reputation for the leading covenant, the assisting faction, and the new covenant coalition, Death’s Advance. You’ll also receive a War Chest filled with Stygia and Soul Cinders, a currency used to further upgrade your legendary items. It may also contain mounts, legendary crafting materials, or equipment.

DEATH’S ADVANCE

At the forefront of the fight for the Shadowlands are the covenants’ champions you met along the way while leveling and questing. Visitors from the covenants change daily, and each will offer you repeatable quests. Turning in dailies will reward you with reputation for the new Death’s Advance faction. You’ll also earn reputation from the quest giver’s associated covenant (e.g. venthyr visitors will grant Court of Harvesters rep).

For your contributions to the Death’s Advance’s cause, you’ll gain their favor and will be able to purchase several cosmetic rewards, including covenant armor appearance sets.

THE ARCHIVIST’S CODEX

Korthian attendants have committed their existence to researching relics from across the Shadowlands. Led by their Archivist, they are dedicated to recovering the relics scattered across Korthia in the wake of the mawsworn invasion. Aid their cause by returning any Relic Fragments you find to Archivist Roh-Suir in return for The Archivist’s Codex faction reputation and a new currency, Catalogued Research. You can exchange Catalogued Research for a variety of rewards including Conduit and equipment upgrades, a flying mount, and a cosmetic appearance for your cloak.

MOUNT UP IN THE MAW

Disrupting the Jailer will weaken his hold in the Maw and bolster the confidence of your mounts to let you ride them into battle. To saddle up on your trusty steed in this ominous realm, you’ll first need to complete the introductory storyline to Korthia. Once you complete the quest, you’ll receive The True Maw Walker reward, which allows you to summon and ride all ground mounts in The Maw and Korthia on the character who earned it.

Mount up in the Maw

BLIND THE JAILER’S EYE

During your journey through the Chains of Domination storyline, you’ll be able to diminish the dangers of this desolate realm during the “Focusing the Eye” quest, which permanently removes the Eye of the Jailer effect. With the eye no longer tracking your every move, you can freely roam the Maw without penalty and stay in this forbidden place for as long as you please.

DELVE INTO DESMOTAERON

Along with exploring Korthia, you can now traverse the previously inaccessible terrain in the Maw, Desmotaeron. This land withers under the shadowy palm of Helya herself, where she tortures souls as her contribution to the Jailer’s schemes. It is here that you’ll also find the entrance of the new 10-boss raid, Sanctum of Domination.

NEW EVENT: TORMENTORS OF TORGHAST

While eradicating the Maw of the Jailer’s forces, his conniving lieutenant Kel’Thuzad will occasionally dispatch Tormentors to maintain their icy grip over the Maw. Slay Mawsworn minions to draw out these powerful adversaries that will stop at nothing to pulverize you into a pile stygia. Defeating a Tormentor will reward you with a Tormentor’s Cache brimming with Soul Cinders and can also contain powerful equipment as well as a Bahmethra Chain Link. Binding enough of these chain links will allow you to summon an eerie mount, the Hand of Bahmethra.

We look forward to sharing more information as development continues, and we hope this preview prepares you for the Maw and all it has to offer.

Rewards and mechanics are still in development and subject to change, so be sure to check back for periodic updates on worldofwarcraft.com as we approach the release of Chains of Domination.

The latest War Within Alpha build comes with an interesting talent for Demonology Warlocks that lets them summon a raid boss!
A new choice node allows Demonology Warlocks to replace Summon Vilefiend with either Mark of Shatug or Mark of F'harg. Depending on the talent you pick, you will either summon a charhound or a gloomhound, one of the hound bosses from the Antorus raid.
So far, players seem to be really happy with the size of the hounds and hope Blizzard won't touch them and adjust their size. What do you think about the talents?

Frost is on the Death Knight tuning table this time around! There's new talents throughout the three and even two new capstones, as well as Breath of Sindragosa, Frostscythe and other skill improvements.
      Frost (Source)
      Hello, Death Knights–
This week’s Alpha update includes another round of changes for Death Knights – this time focused on the Frost tree. Like our last round of changes for Unholy, we looked at talents that felt more appropriate to be baseline for the spec and talents that worked better as 1 rank instead of 2. Notably, we made Fatal Fixation and Rime baseline, reduced Frostwhelp’s Aid, Enduring Strength, and cut both Cold-Blooded Rage and Invigorating Freeze and reduced their new talents to 1 rank.
The goal with the above changes is to cut down on build friction allowing for more customization as you spec through the tree. These changes alongside other talent movements and new pathing connections should help create a better experience for build variety.
We’ve also created a variety of new talents and added 2 new capstones that focus on your auto-attacks which should help give some better sustained damage outside of Pillar of Frost windows. These talents also complement both Obliteration and Breath of Sindragosa builds and add some unique gameplay that expands on the Shattering Blade talent node.
We’ve added Razorice to the targets unit frame to allow easier tracking on when to use Frost Strike. Frostscythe has also seen an update to move it out of the regular rotational rune spender to a big heavy hitter on a medium cooldown. Its rune cost has been increased to 2 and its damage has been greatly increased and is always guaranteed to critically strike. It also has unique mechanic that reduces its cooldown when you consume Killing Machine which has some fun synergy with the suite of new auto-attack talents we’ve added to help your Killing Machine procs.
Lastly, we increased Breath of Sindragosa damage to compensate for the loss of uptime from our first round of changes which should lend itself to a burstier playstyle with less focus on “infinite” duration buffs. We are keeping an eye on its current Runic Power cost which is unchanged since its increase in Dragonflight. From our internal testing, we’re seeing 30-40 second breaths, based on situations but the are many scenarios where it can feel extremely tight as you wait for Runes to replenish, which means we may need to look at its cost per second and pulling out some runic power generation elsewhere.
We would love your feedback on how the current iteration of Breath of Sindragosa feels on uptime. Tangentially, we still have some work we’d like to do on Obliteration build resources especially as it pertains to Runic Power consumption as it can still be flooded a bit inside cooldowns.
Thank you for the continued feedback. Our next round of changes will be focused on Blood updates, Unholy, and Core talent iteration based on feedback we’ve received so far.
And here are the actual changes from the development notes:
      Frost (Source)
DEATH KNIGHT Frost New Talent: Shattered Frost – When Frost Strike consumes 5 Razorice stacks, it deals 50% of the damage deal to nearby enemies. Deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets. Available as a capstone talent after Shattering Blade. New Talent: Arctic Assault – Consuming Killing Machine fires a Glacial Advance through your target. Available as a new capstone directly after Obliteration. New Talent: Smothering Offense – Your auto attack damage is increased by 5%. This amount is increased per stack of Icy Talons you have and can stack up to 2 additional times. New Talent: Icy Death Torrent – Your auto attack critical strikes have a chance to send out a sleet of ice dealing Frost damage to enemies in front of you. New Talent: The Long Winter – While Pillar of Frost is active, your auto-attack critical strikes increase its duration by 1 second, up to a maximum of 5 seconds. Frostscythe has been redesigned – A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for Frost damage. This attack always critically strikes and critical strikes with Frostscythe deal normal damage. Deals reduced damage beyond 5 targets. Consuming Killing Machine reduces the cooldown of Frostscythe by 1 second. Now has a 30 second cooldown and Rune cost increased to 2 (was 1). Rime is now a baseline ability learned at level 21. Breath of Sindragosa damage increased by 25%. Chill Streak can now bounce off the Death Knight if a second enemy target isn’t found. Enduring Strength is now a 1-point talent. Strength increased to 20% (was 10%). Frostwhelp’s Aid is now a 1-point talent. Now grants 8% Mastery per target hit (was 4%). Killing Machine now stacks 1 additional time. Everfrost is now learned in gate 1 directly after Howling Blast. Frostwyrm’s Fury position moved to gate 2 and located directly after Icecap, Frostwhelp’s Aid, and Enduring Strength. Absolute Zero shifted up to gate 3 unlock positioned directly behind Frostwyrm’s Fury. Shattering Blade is now available after Avalanche. Rune of Razorice now displays the debuff on the enemy nameplate. The following talents have been removed: Fatal Fixation Cold Blooded-Rage Invigorating Freeze Horn of Winter is now positioned in Fatal Fixations old location. Empower Rune Weapon is now located in Horn of Winter’s old location. Obliteration has replaced Cold-Blooded Rage.
