Some Quite Specific WoW Memorabilia and the Stories That Go With It

Recommended Posts

This week saw a fairly random appearance of a couple of players' memorabilia collections, featuring 12 "collector's items" in a wonderfully illustrated box.

Ok, so it's Mountain Dew, but technically it counts as memorabilia! Two players dug up their WotLK Alliance and Horde 12-packs, which definitely qualify as blasts from the past, and their posts sparked many fond and interesting memories from plenty other players as well! The two faction-themed drinks were a special promotion back in the summer of 2009 and came in Citrus Cherry Flavor for Horde and Wild Fruit Flavor for Alliance. And in case you were wondering, other cans are going for around 30-40$ on ebay.

First off there's the blue team with the Night Elf on the box:

The Horde version is in a slightly less welcoming home, as Drihtan's wife is not happy with it still hanging around the house:

The two cases sparked quite the nostalgia trip, as well as plenty of comments on how it must taste and general soda-related talk, with some players even having chosen their faction based on the taste:

Moving out and it was just put up, always joked about saving it for a special occasion.

I have kept them in A/C controlled room put up... I think 1 can did leak as a nes box of games has some sticky residue on it, as the case was sitting on top of the box. But it's a pretty easy clean and no damage to the nes games

Chugging is impossible now it's Returned to Syrup and goes brrrrrrr

Right now it might be more like dust flavored. We aren't going to try it.
It's like Hawaiian punch but with the kind of weird sour kick from mt dew

I wish they'd bring this flavor back, I remember it being really good ?

I remember sneaking the alliance Mountain Dew as if anyone would see me at 10 and know I was actually horde lmao - naterzgreen
...
I remember they used to sell it in my high school vending machines. Alliance MtnDew is the best flavor next to Baja Blast. - Davidlarios231
...
I think preferring this flavor was the biggest factor in settling on the Horde when I started playing. - twelvetimesseven
...
When that stuff was new I drank a whole 12 pack of the Alliance blue in less than 4 hours. My eyes started vibrating in thier sockets and I shit green for 3 days.
Ah high school - Harfang1801
...
About 7 years ago, a local guy enlisted the local comic book store owner to source one of these. The guy could find anything, it was quite amazing. Three weeks later, he has 2 of these 12-packs, sells them to the guy. We are playing FNM, guy STARTS DRINKING THEM. He got 3 in before he had to run to the rest room as his body began rejecting it. - SilentLurker

I hope you realize that Mountain Dew, when expired, has this funny tendency to ferment like wine… hold it for another 10… you might have cans of ass, or cans that’ll kick your ass… - Katjakaisa
...
Always horde since vanilla, sadly the alliance one was streets ahead - Knives530
...
I was alliance back then, and still drank the shit out of the horde dew. Was so good. - Zadiuz
...
That stuff turned your poop the weirdest color. - Kinsata
...
This is how the plaque was spread in Stratholme. - BarKnight
...
You trying to start a new plague? Arthas would like words with you - Ehrre
...
hope they bring it back for the inevitable wotlk classic - antetja

I still have a 20oz Horde one. Drank it, but kept the bottle amd filled it back up with water and red food coloring so it still looks brand new basically after over 10 years.

Dragonflight does not include Threads of Fate, but we've got some details on how alt leveling works in the new expansion.
      Leveling Your Main Character
Leveling up the first character is linear, and you must complete the zones in the following order:
The Waking Shores > Ohn'ahran Plains > The Azure Span > Thaldraszus.
      Leveling Your Alts
When you complete the Dragonflight campaign on your main character, you can pick any of the four Dragon Isles zones for leveling and you will have World Quests and Side Quests unlocked on your alts.
Thanks to MrGM for the screenshots.
