When You Miss Your PvP Title, Achievement and Transmog by 5 Minutes

There's a lot of 9.1 stuff happening at the moment, but let's take step back for a second and take note of a valiant last-minute effort that technically succeeded, but just barely missed the cutoff.

Kapuseta set their sights on the Rival: Shadowlands Season 1 Rival: Shadowlands Season 1 PvP title, achievement and transmogs that come with it, choosing to sacrifice some sleep to get it all. And they did it! 1805 rating was completed... 5 minutes too late. The season was over and the rewards gone.

The reaction was excellent, as Kapuseta just posted the screenshot in good spirits under the humor/meme heading, with the title "If you think you're having a bad day, just know that yesterday I sacrificed my night's sleep and finally got my 1800 RBG rating... 5 minutes after the season ended (clock shows local time). I guess I didn't want those appearances after all!".

What's your closest call with a new patch arriving or similar?

The pain is real. I have experienced the same thing multiple times with limited time stuff; but the worst time was my warlock trying to get "of the Black Harvest" title right before WoD.

The warlock was one of my last alts to level in MoP. It's not that I just idly procrastinated on the warlock - back then I had 7 max level and (at least passably) geared characters. Lock was one I really wanted to play, but just hadn't gotten to it yet. If you don't remember or weren't around back then, the title in question was a lock-unique questline and achievement that started with a random-world-drop book on the Timeless Isle. At the end, it turned all your fire spells green! I'm not sure, but this may still be the method one must go through to get green fire on a new lock today (correct me if I'm wrong). Well, if you completed this chain during MoP, you also got the "of the Black Harvest" title, as the story of these quests centered around said group of warlocks.

I was logged in, on my lock, fighting the last boss fight of the quest chain on top of the Black Temple, as the servers shut down. It was actually a very challenging fight, in the sense that it was basically a straight up gear check. Sadly, my lock being my newest 90, his gear was slightly sub par for the challenge. But only slightly. I must have been trying for over an hour just on the final fight alone, trying to get around the gear check by perfecting how I handled the mechanics. Given a little more time, I might have been able to pull it off. Given another week, I could absolutely have gotten a few more pieces of gear and come back to make it easier. But no, the servers shut down on me, and the title could never be earned again.

I have hardly touched my lock since that day, in addition to multiple of my other favorite classes that I had maxed in MoP. Part of that, ofc, was that WoD was abysmal (I laugh when people complain about SL - clearly they didn't play WoD). I have stuck with the game, but never really play more than 2, maybe 3 characters at a time anymore. I can't say how much of that was missing the title by so little, or just the game changing; I think it's a little of both.

Either way, I know this player's pain.

      Grim Batol Boss Model Updated in the War Within

      Blizzard have announced that the item level issues with Timewalking Caches have been fixed and that affected players have received main with the replacement Cache.

      Splintered Spark of Awakening Clarifications

      Blizzard have clarified why players are able to get a full Spark of Awakening through the two available Splinters in the first week of Dragonflight Season 4, and it seems it's only for this week and only due to catch-up rules being enabled!

      Just want to confirm this with some details.
      Everyone essentially started Season 4 in catch-up mode. Players were able to get 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening from the weekly quest, whether that’s the weekly “Last Hurrah” quest or the PvP weeklies offered by Malicia.
      And then you’re able to get another splinter / half-spark from any valid catch-up sources, such as Mythic+, Awakened Raids, and PvP wins.
      Next week and thereafter, only one Splintered Spark is obtainable every week. And like Seasons 2 and 3, with the increasing cap on Splintered Sparks per week, and if you ever fall behind you will be able to get Splintered Sparks from any catch-up source.

      Easier to Obtain Tusks of Mannoroth Cosmetic Coming in MoP Remix

      It seems there may be an easier way to obtain the Tusks of Mannoroth appearance during the Mists of Pandaria Remix event! 
      The tusks are one of the rarest transmogs in the game currently, even with the recently added Siege of Orgrimmar skip, as their drop rates are VERY low (0.1-0.3%, reportedly). As spotted by MrGM, the new Tusks of Mannoroth are a cosmetic appearance item added in the new limited time event. Now, some have suggested they may just be purchasable from the Bronze vendor (the currency that will drop off of pretty much anything in the event), making them pretty easy to get, but it seems there might be a different way to get them. 
      It's unclear whether the cosmetic will actually be purchasable or if it will drop somewhere else, but another interesting Mannoroth-related item was added as well, the Bones of Mannoroth, which may be related to the cosmetic.

      As you can see the bones are a stackable resource you gain from killing Garrosh, and it's looking like they're a way to guarantee the Tusk appearance with enough kills! Just how many drop is unclear, but assuming you need all 20 for the appearance and that Normal drops 1, Heroic 2 and Mythic 3 bones, it may take at least 7 weeks to get them. Now the number required might be/is likely to be lower than the 20  stack maximum, and we may get more bones per kill.
      But even at 7 weeks it's much, much easier to get than the current "hope for 0.3%" in retail, so it's still a pretty good deal! This may or may not upset players that farmed for the tusks for a long time the regular way, but there's a whole lot players that will be thrilled!
      The Remix: Mists of Pandaria event starts on May 16th and should last until August 19th.
