wow Amazing Mount Selection Addon LiteMount Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

We have a bit of an addon spotlight/anniversary celebration combo post on our hands, as LiteMount, the addon that lets you very specifically choose which mounts you'll randomly summon and where, is now 10 years old and got a great addition to celebrate!

So what does it do exactly? Well, it lets you set many parameters for which mount groups you want to randomly select at specific locations, including mount weights so you can get one specific mount more often than others, but still not get the same one all the time!

     

There's actually really a lot of options to go through there, including a simple shift-click to get a non-flying mount, included Travel Form, Ghost Wolf and similar, getting a flying mount just as you jump out of the water instead of a swim one, and even copying a mount from a targeted player (if you have it ofc)! There's also separate profiles and many different rules you can set up so you get exactly the mount/mounts you want for any given situation (like one player selecting Nightborne-themed mounts with a high priority on Manasabres when playing that race)! There really is an incredible amount of customization options here and this is an invaluable tool for any even slightly RP-oriented players, as well as the ultimate transmog combo companion, as your selected mounts become part of the look!

Its creator, Xodiv recently talked about the addon and the work that it's had put into it over the past 10 years:

July 2011. 10 years ago. I can't believe it. It's not a popular addon (between 5-10,000 users based on downloads). Mount collecting is a niche market. But I've been writing it for a decade and I'm proud of it. For better or worse, it's kept me playing WoW through two expansions where I would have quit. I've been trying to figure out how long I've spent on it, but really can't. It must be at least 1000 hours. I think only 20% of the time has been working on the mounting parts, with 10% dealing with Blizzard's changes, and 70% struggling with WoW UI coding. I've never made any money - I hate ads and will never accept ad money. A big thank you to everyone who's tried LiteMount over the years. And especially to all who have reported bugs, given suggestions, provided translations, and interacted on the forums. You are the reason I have enjoyed doing this for so long. I can't believe its taken 10 years for me to come across this, as it's an addon I don't want to play without anymore, and have actually been thinking of something like it for a long time now (yes, I am very addon-phobic in general)!
