Make the most of the Heart of the Valorous buff!

Looking for a great opportunity to quickly and easily reach the Valor cap on your alts? Blizzard have implemented a temporary pvecurrency-valor.jpgHeart of the Valorous buff which allows players to gain 100% more Valor from all sources. This buff is active from May 30th until June 10th, and all players will be able to take advantage of the increased earnings. Unfortunately, the weekly and total Valor cap has not been buffed, so players will still only be able to earn up to the weekly cap of 1000 points, and the total cap of 3000. This buff will allow for quicker capping of Valor, and it does work with the Valor of the Ancients buff! Players will gain both the additional 50% as well as an additional 100% of all base valor gains from quests, dungeons, raids and any other source of Valor. How will you cap your Valor? We've put together a list detailing different ways to gain Valor in order to best benefit from the buff!

Questing

The best way to earn Valor from questing is by completing the weekly quests on the Timeless Isle. You can still gain Valor from daily quests at other hubs, but the Timeless Isle definitely has the highest rewards by far! Please note that in order to receive these quests, you will have to complete the introductory quests to Timeless Isle. The chain starts with speaking with Chromie at the Seat of Knowledge in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

Empowering the Hourglass
To complete this quest, collect 50 inv_pet_scorchedstone.jpgEpoch Stone from creatures on the Timeless Isle. This is a weekly quest.

Rewards: 200pvecurrency-valor.jpg [/wowicon]
Rewards with Heart of the Valorous: 400pvecurrency-valor.jpg
Rewards with Valor of the Ancients and Heart of the Valorous: 500pvecurrency-valor.jpg

There is another quest that should be picked up and completed at the same time in order to best optimize your questing. Path of the Mistwalker is a daily quest that can be obtained from Emperor Shaohao after completing his introductory quests. The Elites that you will kill for Path of the Mistwalker will be the best source of inv_pet_scorchedstone.jpgEpoch Stone for the quest above. Emperor Shaohao will give you his quests after you have completed Time In Your Hands, which can be picked up during the early quests of main quest line detailed above.

Path of the Mistwalker
To complete this quest, defeat 20 Elite creatures on the Timeless Isle. This is a daily quest.

Rewards: 50pvecurrency-valor.jpg
Rewards with Heart of the Valorous: 100pvecurrency-valor.jpg
Rewards with Valor of the Ancients and Heart of the Valorous: 125pvecurrency-valor.jpg

Completing just these two quests will earn you a total of 500pvecurrency-valor.jpg with the Heart of the Valorous buff, and 625pvecurrency-valor.jpg if double-buffed with Valor of the Ancients! You can also use any Timeless Coins you may have looted or earned on pvecurrency-valor.jpgDeeds of Valor, which will give 250pvecurrency-valor.jpg with both buffs.

There are other weekly quests you can complete with relatively high Valor rewards, such as Champions of the Thunder King on Isle of Thunder, but it may be harder to complete this quest if you don't find a group and have enough inv_qiraj_jewelglyphed.jpgShan'ze Ritual Stone. Nevertheless, this quest will award a substantial 300pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 375pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA!

Raiding

Valor gain from all sources has been increased, and raid bosses are certainly no exception! Normal and Heroic difficulty raid bosses in Mists of Pandaria will reward a boosted 80pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 100pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA.

You can also gain Valor for completing wings in Raid Finder, which will award 180pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 225pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA per completed wing. Subsequent clears will award 90pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 112pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA.

Dungeons & Scenarios

Some players may prefer to simply grind out their Valor by completing Mists of Pandaria Heroic Dungeons and Scenarios. While perhaps not the most efficient means compared to the massive gains from the weekly quests, it's still a viable option! The daily Heroic rewards are substantially buffed, and with both buffs it would take a mere five Heroics (completed over 5 days) to cap for the week. Of course, this may not be the best option for someone trying to gear their ninth alt, but it's still an option to consider!
  • Completing your first daily Mists of Pandaria Heroic Dungeon rewards 160pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 200pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and VotA.
  • Subsequent Mists Heroic Dungeons 80pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and 100pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV and VotA.
You will earn additional Valor for the following Heroics:
  • Scholomance (180pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 225pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA)
  • Siege of Niuzao (170pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 212pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA)
  • Shado-Pan Monastery (190pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 237pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA)
If Scenarios are your thing, each day you can take advantage of the daily Scenario bonus Valor for both Heroic and non-Heroic Scenario!

Heroic Scenarios
  • The first Heroic Scenario completed daily awards 240pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 300pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA. If you complete the bonus objective, as well, you'll earn a total of 300pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 375pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA for the first daily Heroic Scenario.
  • Subsequent Heroic Scenarios will award 140pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 175pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA.
Normal Scenarios
  • The first Normal Scenario completed daily awards 100pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 125pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV/VotA.
  • Subsequent Normal Scenarios will award 50pvecurrency-valor.jpg with HotV or 62[wowicon=pvecurrency-valor] with HotV/VotA.
Enjoy the buff!

I did about 5 scenarios on Tuesday with this buff and I was done. Pretty ridiculous how quick it was.

That's 5 scenarios for the first character. Should be 3 or 4 when you have Valor of the Ancients as well.

Also, if you're crazy like me and have 100k+ Timeless Coins, dumping them into Valor is currently the FASTEST way to Valor cap - period.

Without any buffs, 3000 Timeless Coins converts into 100 Valor Points.  With the current buff, it takes only 15,000 Timeless Coins to hit 1,000 Valor.  Very handy for your main to upgrade your gear before Tuesday's raid and to activate your account wide additional Valor buff for alt characters.

Of course, doing the TI dailies and weeklies also award 1000 coins apiece, so it totals out to 10k counting Visions.  That's three deeds in and of itself.  For those of us who do NOT have 100k coins just lying around...

Collapsing Void - Each time Penance damages or heals, Entropic Rift is expanded by 1 yd. We'd like to introduce you to a game-changing nameplate addon for Season 4 that's essential for excelling in Mythic+ dungeons. Here's Quazii Plater!
Tracking every mob and their abilities in Mythic+ can be overwhelming, but this addon excels by replacing standard mob nameplates and cast bars to enhance your gameplay.
Once installed, mobs with critical interrupts will display a thick orange cast bar, while less crucial ones will show a thinner yellow bar.

Mobs with less crucial interrupts will have a thinner yellow cast bar.

Additionally, any mobs that inflict heavy frontal cone damage are marked with an arrow and feature orange cast bars. A voice alert will also prompt you to move by announcing "front."

The addon further assists by indicating non-interruptible spells that require crowd control with a purple cast bar and a vocal "cc" alert.

For tanks, if you're not holding aggro, the nameplates of the mobs will turn red, quickly showing you which ones to target.

There's also a handy visual cue on the cast bar, surrounded by a green border, signaling when you can interrupt an ability and your interrupt skill is off cooldown.

      Ready to try it out?
You can download Quazii Plater here.
For setup assistance, watch Quazii's comprehensive video guide.
Quazii has also created a Mythic+ cheatsheet that details all critical abilities for Season 4 dungeons, available in a text format.
