Blizzard Co-Leader Mike Ybarra on Who's "In Charge" of WoW

Recommended Posts

With the many changes coming to WoW recently (both announced and already implemented) coinciding with a change in leadership at the very top of Blizzard itself, many players have been talking to newly named co-leader Mike Ybarra and thanking him for some of the changes. Ybarra received some focus recently for playing WoW at a high level, so the assumption was/is that he basically stepped in and orchestrated the recent changes but, as he recently explained, that's not quite the case.

Players have also been asking Ybarra for specific features, to which his answer was very similar at first:

A later reply offered a little more depth to the above responses:

While it would be a little silly to attribute all the recent changes to Ybarra (and Jen Oneal, his fellow lead) alone, the last part of that tweet is pretty significant, as his input certainly brings more weight to it than an average player, even if he doesn't specifically push for something. In general it's pretty nice to see not only someone that plays (and streams) the game, but also interacts and talks to the community have any level of impact on the development, as WoW devs have been pretty notoriously lacking in communication for quite a while now. And then there's awesome interactions like the Final Fantasy 14 comment and this as well:

How to fix wow : remove Ion

He's just one guy though, not every decision is his. Also it's weird how people forget that there is executive producer, John Hight.

Not sure what you're referring to? Don't see any question marks in his tweets myself. Might be a visual bug not showing you emojis?

well now that could be as I have no idea about any of that tweeting stuff  (speaking of, what do you call a budgie ran over by a lawn mower?  Shredded tweets.)   🤪

Anyway, LOL, sorry, I guess I got a case of "don't see the trees because of the forest" as I went back up to what you originally posted and realized why there was a "?" in certain places.  He asking a question as the poster didn't make sense.   Sorry about that.  Now you know why I have stoop shoulders and a flat forehead.

Then you don't understand how not only the game industry works, but also the transportation industry. You're going to blame the driver that's 20 mins late when they only got the dispatch 5 minutes earlier? In the example you set forth, you're expecting the driver to be clairvoyant and somehow be aware of their ride that hasn't even been given to them yet, when it's an issue of dispatch priorities.

More than likely you were reading this on a device that did not have the correct emoji package(s) installed, as there are no '?''s in any of Mr. Ybarra's tweets featured in this article. Just trying to help you figure out why you had this issue. Cheers!

ahhh, my smelly green "behind" friend, Thanks!  You are probably very correct since i don't tweet or zip or any of that other stuff, and I run a very plain jane windows 10 system.   Nothing like being left behind. Even my youngest grand daughter at 8 understands all this new fangled stuff.

A calm week in Mythic+, where we see Windwalker move up in its weakest bracket and Fire actually see a drop anywhere, while Subtlety has a very good week and might be ready to dethrone the eternal blue king.
Note: The logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
This past week was Tyrannical, Bolstering, Explosive (and Tormented).
      All Keys
Windwalkers return to the top 3, correcting their drop from last week while Subtlety actually comes much closer to Fire's eternal throne. Arcane rises two into the top 5, pushing Affliction and Balance down, as Shadow sees the biggest movement in the high percentiles, jumping 4 into 8th. Marksmanship drops one and Havoc gets in-between the Warriors in the middle of the pack , as the bottom 5 remain the same, with Retribution dropping to dead last.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
The all percentages bracket is starting to look more like the 95th, as Subtlety takes 2nd place here as well, but Affliction is still doing a lot better and keeps its 3rd place at least. Arcane is doing even better here compared to last week, jumping 4 into 6th, while Fury dropped 3 spots seeing Havoc, Unholy and Survival pass it in the middle of the pack.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      High Keys
Fire hasn't managed to take over the +15s quite yet and the standings remain the same in the top 5, but 6th sees a big change as Havoc moves there, rising 2 spots. Survival and Assassination are the next to rise, 3 and 4 spots respectively, as Fury drops 3. All the specs are incredibly close in the 15s still, so even the bottom of the pack is doing really well here.

Mythic+15 All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
Windwalker retains its No.1 spot in the 20ies and Fire actually drops a space, as Subtletly had a really good week across all keys it seems. Arms and Arcane both moved up, with the Warrior spec surpassing the Mage along the way. Havoc jumped 3 spots and almost made it to the top 5, while Assassination was the biggest mover, rising a whole 7 spots into 8th!
Mythic+20 All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides or our extensive Mythic+ guides as well, which have tier lists, dungeon rankings and more.
