9.1.5 PTR Patch Notes Update: Group Finder Improvements

There are Group Finder improvement coming to 9.1.5 as an authenticator will be required for custom text inside it!

Updated the PTR notes with the following change:

User Interface and Accessibility

  • Group Finder Improvements
    • Accounts now require an attached Battle.net Authenticator to post custom text when listing a group for Dungeons, Raids, or Rated PvP activities. All players may still search for and join others’ groups.
      • Developers’ note: A Group Finder that’s full of advertisements bothers us as much as it does you, but a challenge we’ve faced in trying to eliminate those ads is that they are often posted by compromised accounts or other throwaway accounts, such that penalties incurred by in-game reporting have not proven to be an effective deterrent. And regardless, relying on reports still means that some number of players have their experience disrupted by the spam before it gets reported. The Battle.net Authenticator is available for mobile devices and is a simple and convenient way to secure your World of Warcraft account, but if you prefer not to use it for whatever reason, you will still be able to post groups that will have descriptions auto-populated (e.g. based on raid name and difficulty selected in UI dropdowns, or derived from the Mythic Keystone currently in your bags). Our goal is to clean up the Group Finder while trying to minimize the inconvenience to ordinary players.

Yeah, just more hassle for players, also people might see other places being spammed even more. Bots/sellers might just spam other categories instead, or places like general and trade chat even more aggressively, adding optional custom filters to exclude certain words would've been an easier solution (like: "don't display titles containing WTS").

I don't see it being much of an issue, your solution is easier, to bypass. Anything where words are blocked, they just get the thesaurus out, or change to less salesy language.

The solution they're proposing is probably the easiest with the least impact on the general population without doing the obvious, simplest, and probably best solution that they just won't do. Sort out their sodding CS team, have more GM's again actually monitoring things, and handing out the bans when things are seen and found, and providing better support. It won't happen because that involves higher costs.

It can be bypassed, but everyone could customize their own filters, so WTS and it's variations could have been manually put in by the player. Much harder for botters to find any universal solution that would display their advertisements for majority of players, besides there could have been some scripts implemented to avoid most common permutations to circumvent those filters (like being unable to use special signs such as "^","*" etc. in titles and descriptions). Agree about CS team, they should sort it out and start banning more. Although I'm afraid it's in some ways beneficial to them, after all sellers/botters also bring them some money, by using their services and buying some tokens. Obviously, they should keep banning them regardless.

1. most of the wts are not bots, they are players. and so they will need to go through a lot more work, including if they type in /trade that only ever effects people in a major city, and on that one server, meaning they would need MANY accounts to try and advertise to all servers instead of just 1. also general chat really?
2. other catergories, cool, people dont look at those as much.
And no, adding that filter would not work, because
"Firenewts M+ group" would be banned.
Plus sellers would just change from WTS to W T S or W.T.S. or WWTTSS or to VVTS or WT5 or W+S or VV+5 like seriously
"letters wts are banned, selling drops to zero"

so you are asking every single player ever to ban every single possible combination that could look like "WTS" you serious?

We've already checked out the new 9.1.5 Druid travel forms, but now we're going to find out how to get them and take an even better look at them all as LestTV gives us a tour of all the new forms!
In short, the easiest way to get them is by just simply buying them from the Auction House, although that might up being expensive in the first weeks of the patch, so we also get to see where to get the Inscription recipes if you want to get them that way. You'll need various reputations for some of the recipes, just grind some mobs to have it drop for others, one is from the meat-craving merchant, and one even has you going back to Legion to get it!

We have some amazing fan creations to take a look at, as Simaia finished a big project focusing on ideas Paladin "class skins" for all races, including Allied ones as well! We have Night/Moodblades for Night Elves, Blood Knights, Silver Hands and Riftblades for Void Elves, Lightblades and Shadow Knights for Fosaken and a lot more!
Head on over to the full twitter thread to see them all in once place, or check out some highlights we picked below:

Some truly impressive work there, and if you want to see all 13 new Paladin race looks, head on to the main twitter thread here. Thanks a lot to Simaia and we hope Blizzard take into account just how much players want new class/race combinations, especially for Paladins!

After a long time waiting the final quest needed to complete the The Zovaal Shuffle achievement (for players that have been keeping up with it), the Ember Count, is now up on NA realms (and presumably on EU soon as well, once the Kyrian Assault opens later today).
The reason the Zovaal Shuffle is important and players have been waiting since the patch launched to complete it is that it's part of the On the Offensive meta achievement (which allows you to buy Covenant-specific mounts with Death's Advance), and it in turn is part of the Breaking the Chains meta - which brings with it the Hand of Salaranga mount! However, the mount reward itself is bugged at the moment, with multiple players reporting not having received it after completing the achievement.

If you're not sure what to do for the achievement, you need to find Gubbins, grab the Mawproof Parasol and then dance near 5 forges in Zovaal's Cauldron. You can find Gubbins in one of 4 locations: 40 41; 35 43; 32 42; 36 36 (as mentioned by MMO Champion).
