The State of Alliance Guilds by Top GMs and Why It's Time for Cross-Faction Grouping

Recommended Posts

there is no possible way to measure faction activity in RP and the like, horde may have more level capped characters but as of 2020 jan, the total player faction balance is 49.4% horde 50.6% alliance. what you're saying is you want to sacrifice that for end game, making the real balance then just become 60/40 or worse

I've said nothing about sacrificing anything, I am in favor of merge. I think you misunderstood my response to a poster, who speculated that giving Alliance unfair advantage in racials might be the solution (my response was that it would only reverse current imbalance, I was against this solution). I take it you are not actively playing then, even casual content? There are way less players on the Alliance side and it shows everywhere. As I said - check LFG. Or do you think community (and even devs acknowledged that this imbalance exists) just made up this problem, and it doesn't exist outside top mythic raiding? What you are saying makes no sense. So these Alliance players deliberately stay low level and never cap? What? Also just number statistics across every level usually don't account for alts, inactive accounts etc. As it stands now, Alliance has less players and it keeps losing them as more people are moving over. This is a fact. People just go where there are more players, snowball effect, as simple as that.

Horde and Alliance work together throughout the narrative. Some NPC characters even forgo these factions all together; we see orc and human pirates fighting side by side all time, for example. Not every character in lore subscribes to faction war, in fact it seems to increasingly be a minority perspective with most major characters advocating for peace, if not all out cooperation.

As characters in the lore, however "nameless" we end up being in the end, we have a right to that agency. We should be able to personally put aside old grudges and hatred to do something great or even everyday.

We should also be allowed to continue to fight. Players could opt into faction conflict by going into War Mode, which would enable World PVP and disable cross-faction PVE.

Battlegrounds could be redone for non-PVP players by simply pitting two equally numbered sides against each other in "training exercises." Arenas should be re-contextualized for everyone as nonlethal spectator sport and even allow players to sit in the stands and watch random arena battles populate live in front of them.

So many ways to maintain the spirit of the original game and provide logical progression for the faction narrative.

No need to really change that much, battlegrounds and arenas already exist sort of out of lore, it's like returning to old dungeons. I think arenas were always some sort of sport, so canonically none of our heroes die there. Plus there is merc mode and ability to fight your own faction there. For world pvp it could be some "hidden" groups, once you turn wm on, half of your shard gets hostile (unless that someone is in your party), other half is friendly. Players entering said shard are assigned to one of two hidden groups in attempt to make numbers even (or at least to attempt to), so whichever faction/race is more popular, doesn't matter here.

Right that makes sense, like every Warsong Gulch is just some alternate version of the original Warsong Gulch. Always have to remember that what you're doing and where you're doing it also involves when.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale

We've looked at the Mythic+ Tier List for the first time in Patch 10.2.6!
      DISCLAIMER
The following post is based on data from U.GG. Therefore, the data presented here may differ from Petko's Mythic Tier Lists maintained on our site.
      How the Data is Calculated
U.GG's tier list is created by evaluating damage and healing scores from the very best players and factoring in the frequency of each spec's appearances in the highest rankings of the current Mythic+ season. The tier list of each spec is determined by its effectiveness and prevalence at the highest levels of Mythic+ play.
