Patch 9.2 Appears on the Encrypted CDN, PTR Release Speculations

Recommended Posts

It seems we might not be waiting too long for the patch 9.2 PTR to come around, as it has appeared on the encrypted WoW CDN (Content Delivery Network)!

As reported by MrGM, some new patch files hit the CDN as the 9.1.5 files have been updated to 9.2.0.40958! This is the first sighting of the new patch on any level and, for comparison, when we first saw the first signs of 9.1 show up on the CDN, the PTR was only 6 days behind! With 9.2 probably being a very large patch we may have to wait a bit longer this time but the PTR shouldn't be too far behind.

Awesome! I was hoping we would get a reveal right around this time since this is right when our cancelled Blizzcon would've been. Seems my guess may not be far off. Wonder if they'll wait until the 1 year Shadowlands launch date or something. I hope not.

prob gunna be a bit since this will probaly be the last content patch of the xpac as well as wrapping up this terribly written SL story

I can already visualise the team rushing to end this garbage expansion. Wouldn't surprise me if the last 2 expacs were a test to see how much the playerbase would tolerate before leaving. And leaving the best for 10.0, just as they did with WoD before Legion

It's still baffling to me that they doubled down on BFA rather than taking a step backward towards Legion.

That said, I doubt they're going to cut the expansion short to release the new one faster. Patches and content and especially expansions are scheduled and have work begun on them very, VERY far in advance. Dropping a patch or two won't make the next expansion be ready faster.

They had a lot of feedback during BfA beta, yet once they set on Azerite armor and necklace, they wouldn't change their mind.

Perhaps it was planned to be a shorter expansion. Anyway that whole situation with pandemic delayed stuff, at this point we should know about next expansion. Maybe lawsuit had some effect, but probably not as large. Could it become the longest running expansion so far?

Has more to do with plot going nowhere past that mark.

By now, the Jailer is already in this "(Not-A)Zereth Mortis" knocking on the Sepulcer's door, while the Primus figures out final sigil's replacement - which he will by 9.2, there's not much left in Shadowlands except finding Arthas and Nathanos (provided neither of the is that crystal soul in Kingsmourne) for... reasons.

So, if there was another patch, and we'd only fight the Jailer in 9.3, what exactly would we be doing for 9.2 to warrant a big content patch?

...unless of course we do a 9.2 raid with us chasing the Jailer through the not-Torghast while not-Sylvanas, as the last boss, holds us off and the former escapes with what he needs. Throw Denathrius going 'merely a setback' in somewhere for bonus points.

One patch more would certainly feel like a filler, if we just kept chasing after Jailer. No idea how they could stretch this story more, unless he would have to die earlier, but then next patch had to introduce someone else. Rather anticlimactic. Not that Denathrius (he might still return) and Jailer are very interesting, we still don't know enough about them and their motivations.

Much as I'd like to see Denathrius working towards killing Zovaal - as opposed to imprisonment the other Eternals chose, hence why he'd 'help' the Jailer escape Shadowlands, into somewhere he might be more vulnerable - to make at least one of them interesting, there is enough evidence to rebuke it.

Sad, really.

Yeah, it seems Denathrius will remain on Zovaal's side, so it's unlikely that we get something as interesting as Denathrius having some sort of double agenda. He could be forced to work against him, but again, covenant leaders are probably too good to pull something like this.

Blizzard have announced that Season 4 will see an increased number of maximum Crests acquired each week, and also have the increased cap system for players that don't reach the maximum each week.
      Crests (Source)
Players can now earn up to 120 crests of each type per week in Dragonflight Season 4. This was a maximum of 90 per week in Season 3. The increase will allow for up to 8 upgrades per week, per crest type.
For players who don’t reach their maximum crest earnings in a given week, we’ve implemented the increasing-seasonal-cap system from previous seasons.
Please note that this increase is likely applicable to Season 4 only. We expect the weekly maximum to return to 90 for The War Within Season One.

Dragonflight Season 4 starts today, check out our updated to-do list to find out what's new!
      New Content Available This Week
Awakened Raids are now available! The first Awakened raid this week is Vault of the Incarnates! Proiritize clearing Vault for Season 4 loot and your first Antique Bronze Bullion. The first Catalyst charge is available today, but make sure to use it after you clear Awakened Vault to see how many tier set pieces you've acquired after your run. The final boss drops an omnitoken that all classes can roll for. Killing the final boss on Heroic Difficulty yields a token that you can exchange for 1 class set piece. Click here to learn more about Awakened Class Set acquisition methods! The item level of loot from all sources has gone up by +39 item levels in Season 4. Time Rifts, Fyrakk Assaults, and Dreamsurges now all offer better loot, compared to Season 3. If you own Fyr'alath or Nasz'uro, you can upgrade the legendaries to their S4 base Item Level (502) using Scale of Awakening that costs 2 Antique Bronze Bullion, but you can only get 1 this week. You can still upgrade S3 gear, but you can no longer acquire S3 crests. New crests are available for gear upgrading. You will find the gear upgrading brackets in our guide. New rewards await in Mythic+ Season 4! The latest PvP season also introduces new rewards and better gear. This week's bonus event is Burning Crusade Timewalking You can clear dungeons to unlock slots in the Great Vault alongside Item Level 467 loot! Complete 5 Timewalking Quests for the weekly quest to receive 1 piece of item level 493+ loot. Clear Black Temple Timewalking forI Item Level 493 loot. DHs who earned both warglaives the regular way can now obtain the Weapon Arsenal from Illidan which lets them use the legendaries for transmog. Thanks to the increased reputation buff, it's super fast this week to reach Revered with the Netherwing and add some cool mounts to your collection! In Shadowlands Season 4, we've seen Fated World Bosses, but it doesn't seem to be the case with Dragonflight Season 4, so it's not really worth killing World Bosses.

Here's a reminder for all Demon Hunters! Since it's Burning Crusade Timewalking you can earn Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth from Illidan if you earned the weapons the regular way!
Make sure to run Timewalking Black Temple on your Demon Hunter this week if you've unlocked the Warglaives of Azzinoth achievement with a character that can equip them.
You need to collect both warglaives to use them for transmog and to unlock the “I'll Hold These For You Until You Get Out” achievement.
Remember, achievement credit isn't shared across your account, so you must obtain both weapons with the same character.
If you haven't acquired the regular warglaives yet, now is a great time to start farming them. That way, you'll be prepared to grab the Arsenal at the next Burning Crusade Timewalking event.
