wow Player Theories on the Cryptic Patch 9.2 Rune Announcement Tease

We've seen the bingo cards, now let's see what some players are thinking the latest 9.2 content tease means! We have posts and tweets ranging from funny to crazy, and a few with some actually pretty interesting theories, up to and including predicting the actual patch release date!

To start, just on my end, the runes are almost certainly from the First Ones, an equivalent to the Domination runes we've seen except older, possibly the very magic used to shape the Shadowlands themselves. We assume/know we're heading to Zereth Mortis, which is supposed to be the realm of the First ones, and the Jailer is certainly heading to the Sepulcher, but what the actual lore significance of this exact rune layout is is unclear - and there maybe isn't any. Also, and this is not a guess, the music in the background is meant to remind you of LOST, which is a good thing (unless you remember the finale/the last season, in which case it's time to start panicking about 9.2).

But the runes can signify other things, as we take a look at some legitimate guesses at the actual meaning of the tease:

While I can't get into the logic itself, the key problem with it is that I don't see Blizzard using the (correct and only logical, fight me) EU date format of day:month, but it does bring up an interesting question: will Blizzard give us the actual release date of the patch tomorrow? The following one fixes that, although doesn't give any particular reason for the guesses (but still might be pretty close):

If we were to take that as the correct reading, perhaps it would indicate some major tuning/rebalancing happening? Or maybe Blizzard just go all out and bring us am entirely new class? Well no, not in 9.2, BUT there is a possibility of us getting information on more than just Shadowlands tomorrow, and a tease of a new class coming with the next expansion would certainly be exciting.

And finally for the serious guess category, the below doesn't quite offer any theories, but the two of the three major runes do look very similar, although the third is a bit of a stretch.

We'll find out a lot more tomorrow and possibly some of the above players will feel pretty smart! Although those last two definitely feel smart already, since they are 100% right.
