Season of Mastery Ultimate Vanilla/Classic Azeroth Map and Plenty of Tips

Recommended Posts

Season of Mastery starts today and so we have two interesting and handy tools, starting with a gigantic, all-encompassing world map of Classic Azeroth, and ending with a lot of tips!

The Mastery Map, as creator Rhianolord calls it, is an upgraded and enhanced version  of their previous "WoW Classic One Map", and it's a colossal and incredibly detailed showcase of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms at the time of Vanilla/Classic. Based on a blank BradyGames WoW Azeroth Map, Rhianolord improved it a little and then put, well, EVERYTHING in:

Now, mind you that already pretty large image above is a very small version of the original, as Rhianolord explains, and you can get the full, gigantic, up to 472 MB large ones below:

And secondly we have a large list of handy tips for the Classic restart, and although not all of them are very advanced, they are all very useful if you didn't know them, so make sure to go through them all!

Dungeon Reset Trick - You can make a party with someone else, then have them invite your alt and then use your alt to reset dungeons with only one account (requires an initial friend)

I'd be carefull with this one, since Blizz issued permabans for dungeon farming in TBC Classic. Several of my paladin guild mates got permabanned for farming Stratholme, no cheats, no multiboxing, no botting, just level, gear and skill - normally playing the game. They got some ridiculous message about abusing game mechanics and that this way of gaming is not in accordance with the spirit of EULA.

Seriously, SPIRIT OF EULA.

Better yet, husband got a 6 months ban for using a fishing bot... The only thing that could support that claim was he was fishing for over 18 hours straight. Why might you ask me? He broke his leg at the knee, the first painkillers he got were only dulling the pain and he couldn't sleep. So he decided to binge watch some TV series on one screen and level fishing on the other one. But Blizz has evidence of cheating and he remains banned till January. They are issuing bans left and right to legitimately playing people, but actual bots and cheaters go unpunished. Go figure.

Sum up that and their ridiculous changes to retail and WoW went perma uninstal.exe for both of us. If I could I would demand a compensation for all the time I wasted on their product and all the money I spent returned.

Sorry for the rant.

Molten Core has been cleared and it seems Season of Mastery is off to a pretty good start, difficulty-wise, as it's already quite a lot more demanding than original Classic was! It's taken two weeks compared to Classic's 6 days, as we now have the guild w h o taking down Ragnaros, and with SoM's faster leveling pace they had even more time available for the raid, so it's actually taken even more time!
As initially spotted by Sazakiii, the kill was pretty dramatic at the end there, with most of the raid dead:

With 6 Hunters, 7 Mages, 2 Warlocks, 4 Rogues and 8 Warriors, along with the 2 Warr tanks as well as 1 Druid, 4 Paladin and 6 Priest healers, the guild got the very first kill of Season of Mastery in, so congratulations! You can check out their Ragnaros logs and more over here.
This bodes well for future Season of Mastery raids and their potential difficulty, as we might just have some proper races on our hands!

Season of Mastery's Soul of Iron/hardcore/ironman challenge has proven to be quite fun for many players, and difficult as well. However, there are some that are making the 1-life mode a LOT harder for those that visit Stormwind, and the players that get taken down in the seeming safety of the Alliance capital have some... harsh words to share with the perpetrator.
Kiting the elite dragon Teremus to Stormwind is a 17-year-old tradition at this point, however due to the Soul of Iron mode in Season of Mastery, it is perhaps not as funny for some today. Taestiranos aka Frond has been playing how to train your dragon (onto players) for a long time now, and he's continued this practice during Season of Mastery as well, taking down some hardcore/Soul of Iron players, and as you can imagine, their responses weren't too positive (this is from one day only):

And here's the actual event that prompted some of the messages:

However, this isn't a Frond-only situation, as there's an even bigger threat over on Obsidian Edge, the unofficial hardcore server where there's plenty more Soul of Iron players, as someone else seems to have had the same idea:

That's a lot of souls ironed. And here's a meme to close it all out:

Only a day behind the softcore version, we have the Soul of Iron/hardcore/ironman max level challenge completed, as two players reached level 60 at the same time!
Well-known Classic streamers Tommysalami and Tactical were quest-leveling together and reached the final level at the same time as well, only 3 days and 4 hours after they started (which is only 12 hours slower than the softcore 60 we covered yesterday). Here's the clip for the double-ding, as spotted by gandalf45435:

A very interesting bit of trivia here, the spot they finished in is actually the same spot another famous speed leveler, the actual first WoW Classic 60, JokerD actually died in earlier this week as he lost the hardcore challenge at level 50:

JokerD is also a little famous for ninjaing a staff from Molten Core, after which he was removed from his esports org!
But back to the actual first Soul of Iron 60ies in the Season of Mastery: congratulations to Tommysalami and Tactical!

Have you ever gotten ambushed by an entire world event that isn't due for over 8 months? No? Well, it seems Season of Mastery is really demanding a lot of mastery, including the ability to survive the Ahn'Qiraj gate opening event invasion quite literally sneaking up on you! The Old Gods really are powerful, as they seem to have started interfering with the game's code now too.
Therinlahhan fell victim to such an unprovoked time-traveling attack, as the elite Anubisath mobs jumped him after a crystal spawned in the middle of the Barrens - with the Horde defenders showing up as well, only for it all to literally disappear 2 minutes later!

Luckily it wasn't hardcore/Soul of Iron, so not that much harm done, but I do have to say that despite this being a pretty hilarious bug, I wouldn't mind temporal incursions like this one being an actual feature. Well, perhaps not literally insta-spawning an entire event on top of a player, but you get the idea.
I also wanted to mention one of the best comments in response to this little event, as phurbain may have come across the oldest Old God plot in the game:
Looks like we found out what happened to mankrik's wife

We have a 60 ding in the Season of Mastery, as Zarant_ managed to solo-quest his way to the maximum level first! As spotted by Wowhead, he did it using the (paid, with a 1-20 trial) RestedXP  guide and addon (which he also contributes to) on a Beast Mastery Hunter, aka the king of solo. It took 2 days and 16.5 hours and you can check out the final moments below!
