wow Sylvanas Memories of Arthas Menethil Cutscene in Patch 9.2 (Spoilers)

In this post, we're looking at a new cutscene from Patch 9.2, starring Sylvanas Windrunner and Arthas Menethil. This article contains spoilers.

In the cutscene, we see the recently datamined Sylvanas audio play. Sylvanas talks about Arthas and how she wanted to kill and punish him for his crimes. Sylvanas thought that she would be "absolved of her crimes" and "forgiven for the atrocities she was forced to commit against her own people" had she killed him. 

We see Pelagos, Anduin, Jaina, Baine, Bolvar taking part in the cutscene as well.

Sylvanas Windrunner: I don't remember the exact moment I wrested control. Sylvanas Windrunner: I do remember the rush of freedom. The clarity of purpose. Sylvanas Windrunner: When I loosed my arrow, I sought to become his judge and his executioner. Sylvanas Windrunner: I thought that if I could punish him for his crimes, I would be absolved of mine. Sylvanas Windrunner: Forgiven for the atrocities he forced me to commit against my own people. Sylvanas Windrunner: But there would be no justice that day. For anyone. That... is yet to come.

She "wrested control", yet still she wasn't fully herself without a part of her soul (and there was some influence from the Jailer later on). Has she really regained control then?

I think we are looking at a Grom or Broxigar style Sacrifice at the end. While a rehash, I would much prefer that rather than her becoming a lightforged forsaken or some crap like that.

If there's one thing that has been abundantly crystal clear about Sylbarfas Windfarter throughout the years, it's that she's an incredibly intelligent and clear minded individual who schemes for own ends and does exactly just whatever the heck she wants to.  But let's just forget about all that now that we're all being manipulated in Danuser's utter dumpster fire of a story to sympathize with her.

There is a vast expanse of works in both mythology and modern entertainment about how having a soul (or lack thereof) directly ties into your morality, and post-trauma issues of reconciling what you did while you weren't your whole self. We even see this reflected in Uther's lack of compassion and willingness to embrace vengeance, something he wasn't able to fully acknowledge about himself until he was made whole again at the end of the 9.1 campaign.
