Light, Void and More Dragon Isles: the Rest of the 10.0 "Leaks"

Recommended Posts

63653-patch-100-the-next-wow-expansion-s

The season of "leaks" continues, although calling them leaks with a straight face is disingenuous, as pretty much all of them are almost certainly fake, but that doesn't mean they're not entertaining or that they don't have some good ideas hidden inside, which is why we're taking a look at them. The "real or not" aspect was especially made moot after we recently took a look back at all the pre-Shadowlands leaks and we can now clearly see none of them were even close, and that many, many of them are basically just being repeated with these 10.0 ones. So with all that in mind, let's see what players came up with! You can check out some previous leaks we've covered here and here.

Personally my favorite thing about the leaks is the "this is why it's a legit leak" part of it, where someone is pretending to be an ex-developer, someone's cousin or a dev's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate, so I'll be adding those parts in as well, where present.

1. The Light and Void

I'll be bundling all the similarly themed ones together, starting with the less prevalent ones.

Rise of the High Exarch

  • Very little info - Yrel-themed, new zones on Azeroth and Draenor, new race Ogres.

Light and Shadow

  • Players choose Light or Void and get visual changes to spells and abilities.
  • Torghast like training grounds with old dungeon bosses and similar.
  • The Light invades through the Sunwell (what?), Alleria unleashes the Void in Stormwind as a response.
  • New raid in... the Dragon Isles. (Yep, this one is exploding with originality.)

2. More Dragons! And Isles!

The Dragon Isles are the bulk of the "leaks" as you'd expect.

Return of the Dragon Isles

  • "I was a dev on WoW until just last week - I've been with Blizz for over a decade and I've ALWAYS wanted to do this... here is the next expansion."
  • Originally scheduled to be revealed at BlizzCon 2021 and then BlizzConline 2022, now a stand-alone reveal in March
  • Zovaal's attack uncovers the isles.
  • Ancient dragons unaffiliated with the dragonflights, Blood Dragons are the villains and are trying to birth the World Soul, they see other life as beneath them (including the other dragons). Shattered Peaks raid.
  • Player housing in Teldrassil and Undercity, new profession carpentry related to it.
  • New race and class, 1 dragonscale gear slot with new abilities for each color.

The Final Titan

  • Jailer's attack sees Emerald Dream collapsing into our reality.
  • Many revamped zones, Dragon Isles, new capitals in Nordrassil (A) and Lordaeron (H).
  • No new race or class, 2 new raids, Stratholme's Barricade, Heart of Elunaria.
  • New class customizations: Emerald Dream druid forms, Chronomancy spell effects for mages, Dark Ranger spell effects for hunters, elemental forms for Shamans.
  • Path of the Aspects for new abilities.
  • Living World / Dreaming World events.

On Shifting Tides

  • "All my information has come from blizzard developers that have walked out during the class action lawsuit that has transpired last year and through the beginning of this one. Due to the sensitive nature of these employees' no disclosure agreements, I am unable to give names of these unsung heroes that has bestowed this knowledge upon me. I'm simply a secretary that happened to be at the right place at the right time."
  • (This person claims not to know who the next Arbiter is, so let's directly move this to the "made up" pile. It is the biggest one of them, with a lot of effort put in though.)
  • New class Scoundrel, with a Bard spec. Wrath of the Creators raid.

The Realm of Life

  • Elune themed, Tyrande on the cover.
  • Necromancer class, new race/class combos.
  • Two Dragon Isles and two emerald Dream zones

The Dragonmire

This one actually isn't a leak at all, as the creator didn't even try to pretend, but it's a nice logo, so why not check it out!

Flight of the Dragon Isles

  • New class Talonguard with 4 specs. Dragonsworn Covenant-like system, but you want to work with all 5.
  • 2 raids: 1 temple where we make a new aspect (I actually like this idea a lot), 1 Scarlet Crusade themed.

Flight of the Aspects

  • Infinite Dragonflight pre-pach invasion, summoning old bosses to fight
  • Dragonsworn class with 4 specs: Life-Binder (Fire/healer), Destroyer (Earth, Fire/DPS), Awakened (Nature/DPS), Timeless (Time magic/tank)
  • Emerald Dream as an endgame zone.
  • Players join Dragon Flights and gather Aspect Power.
  • Dragon whistle like the one fro Legion but with a different dragon picking you up based on flight.
  • "Originally gonna be Dawn of the Aspects after the novel but was changed after someone pointed out DoA stood for Dead on Arrival."

And I'll leave you with the most likely leak of them all, something you just KNOW is going to happen at some point, even if not in 10.0:

These are so obviously false.     It's become obvious that if Sylvannas isn't dominating the storyline somewhere, somehow it's fiction.

Some of these look like a rehash of post-BfA leaks, people were "leaking" Light vs Void expansion back then as well. There is also a surprising lack of Tinkers!

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has confirmed that the Dracthyr race will have more class options in The War Within. However, this feature may not be ready in time for the expansion's launch.
This update was highlighted in a tweet by MrGM, who shared insights from a London content creator interview about the Dracthyr.
The plan is to introduce the ability for Dracthyr to play as other classes in War Within. Emphasis on playing in Visage form. Required animations for other classes are actively being worked on. The implementation is unlikely to happen at launch, but targeted for early in the expansion cycle. Placeholder for tweet 1780748422066188399
