Firemaw, the largest Classic realm in the world, is experiencing long queue times, so Blizzard is offering free character moves from the realm until further notice.
      (Source)
Over the last few weeks, we’ve observed an unprecedented event in World of Warcraft: an unserviceable number of Burning Crusade Classic players have continuously attempted to play on a single realm. This has always been possible, of course. At any time over the last 17 years, players in a region could have collectively decided to create characters on a single realm and then all attempted to play on that realm. All realms have a cap on concurrent players (this is configured to be the same number on all realms), and if that many players are in-game on the realm, additional players who come along are placed into a queue. The queue itself also has a cap, and if even more players than that attempt to log into the realm, they are denied access entirely.
By the measurement of its daily total number of players logged-in, Firemaw is the largest realm in the world. To give that some context, the 24th largest realm in the world (Benediction-US) has about 67% as many daily players as Firemaw does.
The reason we’ve never seen such a large population on a realm for more than a few days is something we call “queue pressure”. The game is much more fun if you’re actually playing it, even on a smaller realm, so in the past, players have always eventually chosen to move to other realms. For quite some time, free character transfers have been available from the Firemaw realm. Any player with characters on Firemaw can move to the following realms for free:
Amnennar Ashbringer Earthshaker Golemagg Mandokir Mograine Patchwerk Razorgore Sulfuron Transcendence Venoxis As always, we encourage players on Firemaw to alleviate the population issue by transferring to one of those realms.
It’s worth mentioning that the subject of layering is not related to this issue. Layers are automatically created or collapsed based on the number of players who are outside of instanced content, and the layering configuration is exactly the same on all WoW Classic realms. Lately, Firemaw has consistently needed 4 layers to accommodate all players who are not in instanced content. Smaller realms have fewer layers, but this is related to the number of players congregating outside instances, not the total number of concurrent players the realm can serve. Adding more layers would not increase the total number of players allowed on a realm at the same time. That maximum is bounded by the limitations of hardware.
We’re currently evaluating all realms’ populations and the necessity for more or different free character transfers. We’ll let you know as soon as we determine whether we need to take additional steps there.
      Thank you!

The World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Classic Character Clone service is going away soon. You have one last chance to buy it for $5 before it's gone for good on July 26, 2022.
      (Source)
The World of Warcraft®: Burning Crusade Classic™ Character Clone service will soon be cycled out of the Battle.net® Shop. The service will be on sale until its retirement, and you'll be able to get a Character Clone for up to 66% off to keep those characters active on both Burning Crusade Classic and WoW Classic Era realms.
For a refresher on how Character Clones work and which characters are eligible to use this service, refer to our Playing Ahead: Making Choices in WoW Classic blog post.
What is the Character Clone Service?
The Character Clone service allows you to activate a copy of one of your WoW Classic characters, restored from a point in time just before the Burning Crusade Classic pre-launch update on May 18, 2021, on either a Burning Crusade Classic realm or a WoW Classic era realm.
To clone your character, simply log in to Burning Crusade Classic or WoW Classic—wherever you would like your cloned character to become available. Any characters that are eligible for the Character Clone service on the character select screen will have an appropriate icon. Some restrictions do apply; you can read about them in our support article.
When is the Service Being Retired?
The Character Clone service will be permanently retired on July 26, 2022. After that date, any locked clones will be removed from their respective realms and will no longer be available.
What Happens if I Don’t Make a Choice?
If you haven’t made a choice for any of your characters since the last time you logged in to either WoW Classic or Burning Crusade Classic, those characters will be moved to Burning Crusade Classic. The Classic Era version of the character will be permanently deleted and unavailable for cloning.
      Thank you!
WoW Classic, Burning Crusade Classic, and Wrath of the Lich King Classic wouldn’t exist without your unwavering support. We hope you’ll continue to relive Azeroth as it was and create new memories. Thank you for playing, and we’ll see you In Azeroth.

Chinese guild Old School cleared Sunwell Plateau in less than 1 hour. The run was executed perfectly and secured them the World First Classic clear of the Phase 5 raid. Congratulations!
The guild streamed the run on Douyu. It was also co-hosted by StaysafeTV on Twitch.

The Sunwell Plateau raid has released and Kil'jaeden is now half-rising out of his pool on the Isle of Quel'Danas!
      Sunwell Plateau (Source)
Get ready to join the Shattered Sun Offensive and face Kil'jaeden in Sunwell Plateau in the next content phase of Burning Crusade Classic.

Join the Shattered Sun Offensive and more on May 10:
Fresh from his defeat in Outland, Kael'thas Sunstrider returned to the blood elf city of Silvermoon. Rather than lead his people to glory as he had promised, the disgraced prince betrayed them. Kael'thas plots to use the legendary Sunwell, source of the blood elves' magical power, to summon the demon lord Kil'jaeden into Azeroth. It is up to you to stop him.
The combined forces of Shattrath have launched an attack on the Isle of Quel'Danas, to confront Kael'thas and the Legion at the Sunwell and surrounding areas. You're now able to gain reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive and participate in a new set of daily quests.
At first, the Shattered Sun’s forces will be limited as you help them resist the Legion’s unrelenting assault. The Isle of Quel’Danas effort advancement depends on your whole realm completing quests and aiding the efforts—so be sure to do your part! As your realm continues to assist the Shattered Sun Offensive, fresh reinforcements will arrive, offering goods and services, in addition to new daily quests.
Once the staging area is fully reinforced, you’ll gain access to many helpful allies. Recruit the services of blacksmiths for repairs, innkeepers, alchemists, vendors for profession patterns, and gain access to new Badge of Justice vendors—whose goods include epic gear and epic gems.
Conquer the Arena in Burning Crusade Classic Season 4
After the regional weekly maintenance starting on May 10, a new Arena Season will begin. Defeat your enemies in glorious combat to earn fabulous rewards. At the end of Season 4, qualifying players will receive a unique title (Brutal Gladiator) as well as a unique mount (the fearsome Brutal Nether Drake). As with the original release of The Burning Crusade, some items in Season 4 will have a personal rating requirement you must attain before you can purchase them. These are:
Brutal Gladiator Shoulders (requires 2000 personal rating) Brutal Gladiator Weapons (require 1850 personal rating) Guardian’s Boots (requires 1700 personal rating) Guardian’s Rings (requires 1650 personal rating) Guardian’s” Bracers (requires 1575 personal rating) Note that there’s no continued rating requirement to equip these items, only to purchase them. Also note that items from previous Seasons (Vengeful Gladiator, Merciless Gladiator, Gladiator, and Vindicator’s Honor gear) do not have any rating requirements and can be purchased as soon as you accrue enough currency to obtain them.
Enter the Sunwell Plateau on May 12:
The glorious fount of arcane energy known as the Sunwell empowered the high elves for millennia, until the death knight Arthas laid siege to the elven kingdom and corrupted its sacred energies. Seeing no other alternative, a band of survivors led by Prince Kael'thas destroyed the ancient fount. Over time the surviving elves fell prey to a crippling magical withdrawal.
Now, promising salvation for his people, Kael'thas has returned. Soon the Sunwell will shine once again, but whether the sacred fount will usher in deliverance or destruction remains to be seen.
      New 25-player raid: Sunwell Plateau
Kil’jaeden, one of the leader of the demonic Burning Legion, has been summoned to Azeroth by the returned blood elf prince Kael’thas. Gather your allies to stop Kael’thas mad scheme and restore the Sunwell to its former glory.
Raid bosses: 6 (Kalecgos, Brutallus, Felmyst, The Eredar Twins, M'uru, Kil'jaeden)
      Level: 70
Location: Isle of Quel’Danas, Eastern Kingdoms
There is no attunement required to enter the instance. Unlike its original release, Sunwell Plateau will have all bosses available from the start.
The Burning Legion is poised to strike upon Azeroth itself, aided by the disgraced former leader of the blood elves. Only you can restore the Sunwell, hero. We’ll see you in Azeroth!
