Recommended Posts

Fated is a new raid affix introduced in Shadowlands Season 4. It will be active in a different Shadowlands raid each week, resulting in loot drops being upgraded to a higher item level.

The Adventure Guide shows you which raid is currently tagged as Fated. That raid will come with a special affix and offer better loot from the remaining Shadowlands raids The affix introduces something called Fated Powers.

It's important to note that Fated also applies to LFR.

Now, let's look at Fated Powers in more detail. Currently, we were able to datamine 4 Fated Powers that will be active in a Fated raid of the week.

Fated Powers

  • Fated Power: Chaotic Essence Fated Power: Chaotic Essence - Summons a Chaotic Essence which casts Chaotic Destruction, inflicting 800 Cosmic damage to all players if successful. Upon interaction, the essence becomes hostile and instead continuously manifests Chaotic Motes. These motes channel 2 Cosmic damage into targeted players every 0.5 sec. for 3 sec. When defeated each mote splits into additional motes. After 15 sec the Chaotic Essence dissipates, granting all players 2% increased damage done, 2% increased healing done, and 2% absorbs done for 30 sec. This effect stacks for each Chaotic Mote slain.
  • Fated Power: Protoform Barrier Fated Power: Protoform Barrier - Protects the caster, reducing damage taken by 5% for 15 sec. This effect stacks every 1 sec. Upon removal this barrier manifests as an attackable enemy, sharing a 1,400 absorb shield with all other enemies for 15 sec. Upon expiration the barrier shatters, inflicting 80 Cosmic damage to all players. If broken this effect backfires, inflicting all damage done to each enemy during the barrier as Cosmic damage, and additionally grants all players 10%-20% increased damage done for 20 sec.
  • Fated Power: Reconfiguration Emitter Fated Power: Reconfiguration Emitter - Taints a player, inflicting 15 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. for 15 sec. Upon removal this power manifests as an attackable enemy, which continuously casts. Successful casts inflict 40 Cosmic damage to all players. While present the caster grants all players 5% increased damage done, 15% increased damage taken, and 15% increased healing done. This effect is disabled while the caster is unable to act.
  • Fated Power: Replicating Essence Fated Power: Replicating Essence - Ensnares afflicted players, reducing movement speed by 15% and inflicting 15 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. for 5 sec. Upon removal this essence patterns itself as 2/4 attackable enemies, which continuously channels 2 Cosmic damage every 0.5 sec. into targeted players for 4 sec. Upon defeat grants all players 10% increased damage done and 10% increased healing and absorbs done for 10 sec. Upon reaching full power, this essence replicates itself into 2 |4additional copy:additional copies;, exhausting itself preventing additional replication and no longer grants players any beneficial effects upon defeat. Exhausted Essences continuously channels 5 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. into multiple targeted players for 4 sec.

Glad it's not all raids empowered at the same time, that would have been chaos trying to decide with the hunters + rogues all wanting Sanctum for instance.

Am a bit worried at just how far away Dragonflight is with this sort of system being conjured up...I had hoped they'd aim for Christmas 2022 but that seems unlikely given the lack of a preorder already available.

Interesting idea but my concern is will there be a point to doing the older raids or will normal sepulcher's gear just be better than what is given from the older two?

Q1 2023, realistically.

You have WotLoK in 2022, which they use as a helper.

Content creator MrGM found a glitch that allowed him to create a cross-faction guild on the Patch 9.2.5 PTR.
Blizzard clearly stated that guilds will remain single-faction in Patch 9.2.5 in a blue post about cross-faction instances.
      (Source)
Guilds will remain single-faction, and random matchmade activities like Heroic dungeons, Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will all remain same-faction (both because there is less faction-driven pressure around random groups, and to avoid compromising the opt-in nature of the feature by randomly placing a queuing orc in a group with a night elf). However, content creator MrGM found a glitch that allowed him to break the system and create a cross-faction guild on the Patch 9.2.5 PTR.
The group went with a guild charter into Torghast and created a guild there. Probably any cross-faction content would work to replicate the bug. Players of the opposite faction were able to sign the guild charter it and when the guild was created, each player could invite players from their faction into the guild, meaning Alliance players could invite other Alliance players to join and vice-versa.

We have another sign of just how close we are to 9.2.5 launching, as Martin Benjamins, a well known dataminer and Community Council member, has spotted that the patch has moved to the production hardware and software side of the PTR! With yesterday's build being labeled as a release candidate and the fact that the move to this side of the PTR usually marks 1 week before the actual launch, could we be seeing the patch as soon as next week?

The big argument against this is we still haven't heard any official announcements from Blizzard on the release date, but usually with patches they do so with the Season ending soon posts, and considering Season 3 is NOT ending when patch 9.2.5 launches, this might be less of an issue. Official patch date announcements tend to come right around the first release candidate appearing so let's see if we hear anything official soon, but until then, there's a solid likelihood of 9.2.5 arriving a lot sooner than expected!

Fishbones06 is back with more glyph options, this time some very angry and very polearm-y Warriors, and we paired that with one of their earlier works with blacksmith-themed elemental glyphs as well!
Starting with the Warriors, we have some Alliance/Horde themed ones, with a banner linked to Rallying Cry and polearm + shield combo (which is a bit more of a transmog) on the Alliance side, and all the anger linked to Dragon Roar for Horde. (The image is animated, just click on it if it doesn't auto-start.)
Then there's an older concept, with some blacksmith-themed Shaman elementals:

      Source.
And finally, here are some comments from the glyph-maker:
Exactly, I started making them because if you go to any wow forum, the community has list and list of ideas for Glyphs, but no visual representation.
      ...
The thrust animation and the ready idle stance is real. The only thing I changed was the arm holding the polearm.
      ...
I agree, the artist truly are the heroes. I'm just playing and changing the assets they've provided. On classes I dont play much, I rely on class forums on what they would want to see. My goal for this, is to just bring visual representation to these ideas and to push blizzard into consider them and to see the excitement from the community for something like this.

Content creator MGM found out during Patch 9.2.5 testing that cross-faction queue works for Timewalking raids, which is a neat feature!
Cross-faction grouping comes with a few limitations; you must be Battle.net Friends with the person you're inviting or you both need to be members of the same cross-faction community. So far, we thought the feature was limited to Mythic+, raids, and Legacy raids.
It turns out you can queue up for Timewalking raids cross-faction as well. You can learn more about cross-faction play in our overview.

We're looking at some interesting Genn Greymane audio files from Patch 9.2.5. This post contains spoilers.
The audio files play during the "Eyes of the Wolf" quest when Greymane sends you to meet Calia Menethil in Brill and spy on the Forsaken as they're gathering in Tirisfal Glades for an unknown purpose.
      Transcript
Genn Greymane: You must don a disguise and travel deep into enemy territory. Do not let down your guard.
Genn Greymane: In life, Calia Menethil endured more than her share of sorrow. She may not be a typical undead, but the Forsaken are not to be trusted.
Placeholder for tweet 1528767413696733184 Sylvanas no longer unites the Forsaken and your goal is to find out what they are up to. Genn also says "Calia is no typical undead". Do you think Genn will try to hunt her down or attack the Forsaken at their gathering?
I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly planned a coup. After all, it was Sylvanas who killed his son Liam Greymane.
Most of the Patch 9.2.5 content remains encrypted, so we don't know exactly what will transpire until the patch hits live servers.
