An Eye of Player Behavior and Reporting Improvements in Patch 9.2.5

Blizzard is improving player reporting and implementing a new Social Contract in Patch 9.2.5 as a part of their ongoing efforts to foster a fun, fair, and safe game environment.

Blizzard Logo(Source)

As a part of our ongoing efforts to foster a fun, fair, and safe game environment for our community, we’re implementing some improvements to the system with the 9.2.5 update. We know how important it is for our players to be a part of a safe and supportive community, and we want to help foster that by providing you with tools and information you can use to help promote and create it alongside us.

Just the Start

Creating a positive experience in World of Warcraft is important to the entire team. As a part of helping drive that focus, we’ve pulled together a multi-disciplinary team to look at varying aspects of what we can do to help make things better. The 9.1.5 content update allowed us to provide additional updates to our reporting system that enable more visibility to player reporting by sending thank you messages to players who reported others for violating our code of conduct. Additionally, most players who are close to being actioned within the game are now receiving a warning message. This is only the start of what we have in store, and the 9.2.5 content update provides some further improvements to the system.

New Social Contract

When players first log in to World of Warcraft after the 9.2.5 content update goes live, they will be greeted by the new Social Contract. This contract will need to be read and accepted before a player can continue into the world of Azeroth. The contract outlines behavior that will help make your experiences more positive and provides an outline of behaviors that are not acceptable within the game.  While you should only need to accept it once, there may be a future point where you’ll need to reaccept the contract to continue playing.

Reporting Player Behavior

We’ve modernized how reporting works in-game, making it even easier to report disruptive or poor player behavior.

  1. Right-click the player's name in chat or other applicable area.
  2. Click 'Report Player'.
  3. This will open a popup allowing you to select the appropriate reason for the report as well as allow you to add additional details.
  4. Click ‘report’.

You’ll receive a notice acknowledging your report and thanking you for your help in making Azeroth a better place to be. Should action be taken against the reported player, you’ll receive an additional thank you message in the weeks following your original report.

Streamlining the System

We’ve also taken some time to further streamline our system and penalties, allowing us to act more quickly, accurately, and (if necessary) more severely depending on the in-game violation.

Looking Forward

These updates are merely the beginning of our efforts to provide a better place to spend your time. We know that Azeroth is special to many of you, and we want to make sure it continues to be a place you want to call home.

Wasn't all of this already contained in the EULA?

This seems like they are trying to push some agenda instead of actually making the game a better place.

Its an attempt to compel speech, nothing more.

How they define hate speech is so loose that anything you don't like is hate speech....disagree with an opinion....hate speech, try to help some one play their character better, even in a civil way......hate speech...its all down to how each person defines it....hence why it WILL be abused.

If they want to really improve how people act in this game there needs to be some seismic shifts - like banning raider.io and damage meters.

No I do not think so it will help at all..
It has been there for ages and even if they ban it, people will still use it..

But I kind of agree with your point, there needs to be a change, but the problem is very wide and I think it cant be solved by just doing something like banning raider.io..
Raider.io is a great tool imo, same as dps meter.. it helps you as a player to get better in the game and as your class..
But, the problem is, when other people, or even you, weponize it and start to using it as a tool to be toxic..

This is not going to work and is going to greatly fall short.  What they are setting up will more than likely get innocent people banned than the targeted party.  You don't need an ingame social contract to inforce 'friendly' behavior in an mmo.

so do blizz employees have to follow this social contract and where do you report bad employee behavior cause as we all know, both are apparently something Blizz should have had for their employees not their players lol, just seems like more of the typical "do what we say not what we do"

So much for buying Dragonflight. Of course they would name it this (they could've gone with anything else and I would've signed it) to chase libertarians away - ironic but unsurprising considering actual libertarians like myself despise Trump and bigotry/prejudice more than they do.

I'm sure they will implement this in Classic eventually, as well. That's fine - then I can give House Hexagon on YouTube reason to stop calling me a "fanboy" by cancelling my sub.

I personally try to keep politics out of my video gaming, i don't care if you voted for Trump or Biden or neither at all, i don't care if you are a Conservative, Liberal, politically neutral, i just want to play the game, adding this stuff in there is just making me not want to play, my sub runs out in 4 months anyway.

In the end, Netflix learned their lesson, from what i read, they are purging woke content and even fired several woke employees who complained about this purge of woke content, i mean $50b dip in their stock worth is a hint that woke content is NOT what the people want.....Disney is standing their ground, but it will only cause them more stock losses.

The same will happen to Blizzard if they keep this up, cause this contract to not criticize, basically, the original law in the UK, US and pretty much every EU country already has anti-discrimination laws, so this contract is needless, the only thing they are adding is 'you can't criticize someone's ability to play the game...ie. you can't say they are playing it wrong....you probably won't even be able to give them direction on how to do better at their class and rotation....it is a form of criticism of their ABILITY......they are rather clever, but its compelled speech, nothing more, nothing less.

I mean, do i care if i raid with a gay person? why would i care if they are gay, female non-white, trans or a kid......i don't care, i just want to play the game and have fun, i was already taught by my parents to not judge someone by their appearance or their traits that they have no control over......race, gender, sexuality, i don't care what you are, just play the game...this contract is not needed at all.

Those that are the bigots will be bigots regardless and those that are bigots will get reported with or without this contract, so why have it? Do you think we need to be lectured? no we don't, so stop it, the more stuff you do like this will only sink what little respect you have left....which is not much now-a-days.

I dont understand the "kek" thing sorry. Can you explain the context? If i google it, i understand it HERE as following: "Praise the loser" since kek would mean a type of human marked as "loser" by other human beings. Maybe im just not into this communitys which use this "kek" shorting's often. (question is meant serious, since i do not use "kek" or any of the people i play with)

Also i do not understand why someone would bring up political things here, especially if they are only about some things like voting for american president's, when the rest of world do not or does not care what americans vote for. (at least not in gaming)

Kek is an ancient Egyptian god of chaos commonly depicted as a humanoid frog, currently it servers as a way to give in to the accelerationism going on in the western culture - meaning that pushing more and more political or ideological nonsense will eventually lead to the downfall of those civilizations.

I couldn't care less who is the president as someone from Europe, but its funny seeing how useless those in the USA are, at least in the EU presidents are only representative and not that much functional, but the way USA markets the whole campaign is as if the president ruled the whole world.

We've compiled all the information currently known about the Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon coming in Patch 10.1.5.
      Lore
The Bronze Temple has lain dormant for millennia, awaiting a time when its dragonflight would return. But just as the bronze dragons have reclaimed their scared temple, dark forces now threated to overtake it. Will the infinites take hold of the Timeways and bring about the rise of Murozond? The champions of Azeroth must venture into time itselt to ensure that the future remains a bright one.
      Dungeon Entrance
The dungeon entrance is located in the Temporal Conflux, Thaldraszus.

      Difficulty
The dungeon is only available on Mythic difficulty and will most likely be split into two wings in the future, as was the case with previous megadungeons.
      Bosses
The dungeon houses 8 bosses. Below, we include the boss list (beware of spoilers).

      Loot
Bosses drop Item Level 421 loot. Currently on the PTR, loot isn't upgradeable (might be an oversight or just NYI).

You can watch a full run of the megadungeon in the included video, courtesy of MrGM.

Blizzard is removing Warlock's Glyph of the Observer from the game in Patch 10.1.5.
The observer was a customization option for the Warlock Felhunter pet, but Blizzard decided to completely remove it from the game in Patch 10.1.5.
The main reason for the removal is to "ensure that all demons retain a similar silhouette across all customizations so that each demon and the functionality or power they provide to the warlock is easily understood by other players", as stated in the latest development notes.
Taking away something that already exists can be frustrating for affected players, especially when it's a customization option and the community isn't particularly happy with the decision. Many took to Reddit to voice their opinions and hope Blizzard will eventually revert the unfortunate decision.

Blizzard have announced a large class tuning pass for next week's reset. 9 classes are getting significant changes on the PvE side, and while it''s only 8 for PvP, there are many more changes there. It's almost all buffs this time around, as Blood, Beast Mastery, Brewmaster, Assassination, Arms and Protection get flat damage increases, but there's also tier set bonus changes and specific ability buffs for various specs as well.
      Class Tuning (Source)
As we continue to monitor class performance in instanced group content as well as PvP, we regularly adjust classes that are over- or under-performing. Based on recent data, observations, and feedback from players, we intend to make the following adjustments during scheduled weekly maintenance (on June 6 in this region).
      Classes
      Death Knight
Blood All damage abilities increased by 8%. Druid
Feral Developers’ notes: The following set bonus changes will increase the average number of stacks of the (2) Set Bonus and cause the (4) Set Bonus to trigger less often, but provide more Agility when it does. Aberrus (2) Set Bonus: Chance for Shadows of the Predator stacks to reset reduced by 15%. Aberrus (4) Set Bonus: Now increases Agility by 8% (was 5%). Evoker
Preservation Developers’ notes: We would like there to be more of a reward to using Disintegrate over Living Flame as a Preservation Evoker, since it has a high Essence cost. Disintegrate damage has been increased by 15% for Preservation Evoker. Hunter
Beast Mastery All damage dealt by you and your pet’s abilities increased by 5%. Mage
Fire Pyroblast damage increased by 5%. This does not apply to PvP combat. Fire Blast damage increased by 10%. This does not apply to PvP combat. Fireball damage increased by 10%. This does not apply to PvP combat. Phoenix Flames damage increased by 10%. This does not apply to PvP combat. Scorch damage increased by 10% Monk
Brewmaster All ability damage increased by 3%. Rising Sun Kick damage increased by 10%. Blackout Kick damage increased by 30%. Tiger Palm damage increased by 30%. Mistweaver All healing abilities increased by 3%. This does not apply to PvP Combat. Rogue
Assassination All ability damage increased by 5%. Warlock
Developers’ notes: The high frequency of Amplify Curse has been problematic in PvP combat, so its cooldown has been increased. These changes are also noted in the PvP section below. The cooldown of Amplify Curse is now 60 seconds (was 30 seconds). Teachings of the Satyr now reduces the cooldown of Amplify Curse by 15 seconds (was 10 seconds). Warrior
Arms Developers’ notes: Arms Warriors are not performing as well as we would like in single target or low-target-count situations. All ability damage increased by 4%. Fatality Fatal Mark damage increased by 15%. Deep Wounds periodic damage increased by 5%. Rend periodic damage increased by 5%. Protection Developers’ notes: Protection Warriors are not currently performing as competitively as we would like compared to most other tanks in terms of damage and survivability. All damaging abilities increased by 8%. Auto-attack damage increased by 10%. Spell Block’s duration increased to 30 seconds (was 20 seconds). Thunderlord now causes each enemy hit by Thunder Clap to reduce the remaining cooldown of Demoralizing Shout by 1.5 seconds, up to 4.5 seconds (was 1.0 seconds, up to 3.0 seconds). Player versus Player
      Druid
Balance Developers’ notes: Balance Druids have been overperforming due to their ability to generate so much Astral Power and deal high damage by applying dots and casting Starfall repeatedly. We’d like to reduce the effectiveness of that playstyle since it’s difficult for opponents to stop. Goldrinn’s Fang also became much more effective in Embers of Neltharion, and includes some randomness and ability to score kills unexpectedly. Finally, Owlkin Adept has been a locked-in talent for a while now and has been propping up their control a bit more than we’re comfortable with. Moonfire and Sunfire generate 4 Astral Power when cast in PvP combat (was 6). Stellar Innervation increases Astral Power generation of Moonfire and Sunfire by 50% in PvP combat (was 100%). Star Burst grants 8 Astral Power (was 15). Owlkin Adept reduces the cast time of Cyclone and Entanglng Roots by 20% (was 30%). Goldrinn’s Fang damage is reduced by 50% in PvP combat. Wrath and Starfire deal 60% increased damage in PvP combat (was 50%). Hunter
Marksmanship Developers’ notes: Marksmanship Hunters have been underperforming in different forms of PvP content. Aimed Shot damage increased by 25% in PvP combat (was 15%). Rapid Fire damage increased by 25% in PvP combat (was 15%). Arcane Shot damage increased by 25% in PvP combat (was 16%). Priest
Discipline Developers’ notes: Discipline has been more reliant on shields this season than we’d like. We’re increasing Atonement healing while bringing down the power of shields, with the goal of the preferred playstyle being an offensive one. We’re also targeting the mana reduction from Inner Light, as Discipline has been more mana efficient than we’d like. Power Word: Shield now absorbs 15% less damage in PvP combat. Inner Light now reduces the mana cost of the affected spells by 10% (was 15%). Atonement healing is now 50% more effective in PvP combat (was 40%). Mage
Fire Developers’ notes: Glass Cannon is intended to have high risk and high reward with its gameplay, and we feel the risk is too low for the benefit it provides, especially when paired with Flamecannon. Glass Cannon now decreases maximum health by 20% (was 15%) Flamecannon now increases maximum health by 2% per stack (was 3%). Monk
Mistweaver Developers’ notes: Mistweavers have been overperforming compared to other healers, especially due to their mana efficiency. Soulfang Infusion now regenerates 75% less Mana in PvP combat (was 50%). Zen Spheres now cost 0.5% base Mana. Enveloping Mist now heals for 5% more in PvP combat (was 20%). Mistweaver Monks now regenerate 15% less Mana in PvP combat (was 10%). Windwalker Developers’ notes: Whirling Dragon Punch has felt underwhelming and we’d like it to feel impactful to use without being a major portion of a Windwalker’s damage profile. Whirling Dragon Punch damage increased by 80% in PvP combat. Shaman
Enhancement Developers’ notes: There are a few talents that are leading to fast kills that can feel unfair when facing an Enhancement Shaman. We’re aiming to bring down the burst potential from cooldowns and increase sustained DPS. Forceful Winds is now 75% effective in PvP Combat. The damage increase to Lava Lash from Ashen Catalyst is now 33% effective in PvP combat. Lava Lash now deals 35% increased damage in PvP combat (was 15%). The Physical damage increase from Feral Spirit is now 33% effective in PvP combat. The Fire, Frost, and Lightning damage increase from Elemental Spirits is now 50% effective in PvP combat. Stormstrike now deals 75% increased damage in PvP combat (was 50%). Windstrike now deals 75% increased damage in PvP combat (was 50%). Restoration Developers’ notes: We feel Restoration Shaman is in a good spot. Rain Dance wasn’t as valuable as we were anticipating, so we’re aiming to increase its viability. Rain Dance now increases the healing done by Healing Rain by 30% (was 20%). Rain Dance now reduces the mana cost of Healing Rain by 45% (was 30%). Rogue
Subtlety Developers’ notes: Burst damage from Subtlety has been higher than we’d like this season. We’re looking to keep the spec in a strong position while toning down their burst potential in short windows. Secret Technique damage is now reduced by 33% in PvP combat (was 25%). Shadowstrike and Backstab damage from Weaponmaster is now 50% effective in PvP combat. Flagellation’s Mastery bonus is now 80% effective in PvP combat. Dark Shadow is now 67% effective in PvP combat (was 80%). Warlock
Developers’ notes: Inquisitor’s Gaze has been dealing a sizeable portion of Warlock damage this season, and we’d like damage to come primarily from active spells. Fel Barrage from Inquisitor’s Gaze now deals 40% reduced damage in PvP combat. Developers’ note: The high frequency of Amplify Curse has been problematic in PvP combat. The cooldown of Amplify Curse is now 60 seconds (was 30 seconds). Teachings of the Satyr now reduces the cooldown of Amplify Curse by 15 seconds (was 10 seconds). Affliction Developers’ notes: We are increasing the damage of Unstable Affliction’s backlash effect to lessen the value of dispelling Affliction’s damage over time effects. It’s been lower than we’d like, in addition to healers gaining extra health this season. Additionally, we’re increasing Shadow Bolt damage as the reward for casting it is lower than we’d like. Unstable Affliction backlash damage increased by 50%. Shadow Bolt damage increased by 30% in PvP combat. Destruction Developers’ notes: Destruction’s sustained DPS has been high and we feel this is mainly due to Shadowburn’s high multiplier. We would like for instant casts to be strong but not be the primary way to land kills. Conflagration damage is now reduced by 15% in PvP combat (was 9%). Shadowburn damage is now increased by 15% in PvP combat (was 45%). Demonology Developers’ notes: Demonology’s healing reduction effect from their Felguard was one of the best healing reductions in the game, which didn’t feel appropriate given the class identity, how easy it is to apply, and how it can be applied to multiple targets at a time. Along with Affliction, we’re also increasing the damage of Shadow Bolt in PvP, as the reward for casting it is low. Legion Strike reduces healing taken by 20% in PvP (was 25%). Shadow Bolt damage increased by 30% in PvP combat.

Researchers Under Fire gets several changes in today's hotfixes, and Prismatic Bauble sees its cooldown halved -  but only temporarily.
      June 1 (Source)
      Items and Rewards
Prismatic Bauble’s cooldown has been reduced to 60 seconds (was 120 seconds) for one month. Developers’ notes: For one month, the Prismatic Bauble’s cooldown has been reduced and can be purchased from Jepetto Joybuzz and his Clockwork Assistant in The Wonderworks in Dalaran, floating above the Broken Isles. The Wonderworks can be found down the steps from the Violet Citadel and across the street from Simply Enchanting. Be warned! This very expensive cosmetic item will only have a reduced cooldown and be available from these sources for a month before returning to its original cooldown and being exclusively sold by Dalaran’s legendary and elusive Mad Merchant. Quests
Researchers Under Fire Developers’ notes: Players were being delayed by a lack of Altar Stones which we are addressing. Even with more Altar Stones the timer is still super tight. We think another 30 seconds will allow groups to perfect their runs and be more in line with the Titan version once players become more familiar. Added more spawns of Altar Stones as well as made them spawn quicker. The Sundered Flame Forces are being delayed giving players an extra 30 seconds to complete the Investigation of the Djaradin Ruins. Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Commendation of Bravery is again available from Veteran Arena vendors: Argex Irongut in Gadgetzan, Kezzik the Striker in Area 52, and Nargle Lashcord in Dalaran.
