WotLK Classic Raid System Adjustments: Cooldown Reset Exclusion List and More

Recommended Posts

We have some new details on the cooldown resetting after a raid fight in WotLK Classic, as Blizzard detail which abilities will not be resetting, as well as ways in which they're avoiding exploits trying to use the resets more than once per pull.

Hi Again!

I Wanted to pop back in here and provide a bit of clarity around a few things that we’ve seen concerns around.

To start with, here is the full list of abilities currently excluded from resetting when an encounter ends (via wipe or completion):

  • Army of the Dead
  • Lay on Hands
  • Fire Elemental Totem
  • Earth Elemental Totem
  • Astral Recall
  • Reincarnation
  • Ritual of Doom

Additionally, we have some protections in place that will prevent the use case where a hunter or other class that can quickly and safely exit combat repeatedly pulls a boss and leaves combat in order to reset cooldowns while the rest of the raid is elsewhere in the dungeon pulling trash packs. I’m not going into full detail on how this works, but it is not our intent to create a situation where 24 players are in one part of the dungeon participating in the raid, and one raid member is the dedicated “buff resetter”.

We’ll continue to closely monitor the behavior around this and how its used and make additional adjustments if it makes sense to do so.

I do not understand why those listed CD are excluded lol. If I play shaman I will have my fire elemental every two pulls lol. It is a joke.

On Thursday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m. PDT (7:00 p.m. EDT), we’ll host a playtest of Wintergrasp on the Wrath Beta.
Please join us at that time, queue for the Wintergrasp battleground, and play with the blues as we try to spin up multiple instances of it. Later, we’re planning to see to it that the outdoor version of the Wintergrasp zone experiences authentic, official shenanigans.
      We’ll see you there!

With today’s maintenance, we’ve applied a hotfix to add the ability to queue for Battlegrounds from anywhere in the world. This will allow players to continue exploring the world while also participating in Battlegrounds.
You’ll find it in the Battlegrounds tab on the PvP menu.
Battlemasters are not going anywhere, so you can still talk to them if you prefer to.

Blizzard today announced the launch of two fresh Wrath Classic PvP realms. Both will launch when the maintenance in each region is finished.
Both realms will have restrictions identical to other fresh Wrath Classic realms.

When Wrath Classic realm maintenance is finished today, you’ll find a new Fresh Start realm available in this region: Angerforge (PvP).
As with previous Fresh Start realms, only new characters can be created here. All transfers to and from Angerforge are disabled, level boosts may not be applied to characters on this realm, and Death Knights may not be created here until your character is leveled up.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been highly focused on realm populations and making adjustments to promote the long-term success of all realms. We’re looking forward to seeing the Angerforge community join the story.
      EU Region
The new EU realm will be up when the realm maintenance is finished early tomorrow morning.
