Improvements to Path of Exile’s Endgame 2 new Skill Gems 7 new Vaals Skills 15 new Unique items Balance changes to jewels, hexes, monster modifiers, and unique weapons Ruthless mode: an optional new way to play Path of Exile with extreme item scarcity. For more information, please head over to the PoE Vault League Hub.
Recommended builds for the Forbidden Sanctum League
We’d like to give you a few recommendations of what we believe to be some of the strongest league starter builds (although any build tagged as a League Starter and updated for 3.18, is a very solid choice)
GhazzyTV’s Summon Raging Spirits
is going to be the best minion build of The Forbidden Sanctum league, this build excels in not only getting your maps clear but it’s an excellent boss killer. With the new Atlas bosses, this build will not let you down and is described as the most OP minion build of the league.
GhazzyTV’s Dark Pact Necromancer is a classic build that has stood the test of time for many leagues. Giving good clear speed and consistent bossing damage, the build is perfect for both beginners and veterans alike and a solid league starter choice.
GhazzyTV’s Chains of Command Animate Weapon is one of the most prominent choices for the trade league. This build brings very enjoyable clear speed as well as efficient bossing to the table. It has very interesting mechanic, which summons weapons to fight for you.
TbXie’s Toxic Rain Dot Trickster is back on the table as one of the most popular builds both in league-starting and later environments, it is one of those guides that we felt could not be missing. Toxic Rain is an interesting skill gem and can be built around in multiple ways for mapping and bossing.
TbXie’s Poisonous Concoction Pathfinder offers incredibly clear speed and an old overlapping style of scaling its damage to the point where it becomes an absolute powerhouse. For players who like to blast through the game on a budget and want a build that is expandable with an acceptable amount of currency and incredible returns, this is a one of a kind build.
TbXie’s Explosive Arrow Ballista Champion has been one of the most popular builds for newer players for the longest time. Especially after recent tree changes it pushed its single target boss killing capabilities up by quite a significant amount, this build is an excellent one for both new and experienced players alike.
Pohx Righteous Fire Inquisitor been a staple of league starts and solo self-found alike. Righteous Fire has been a true Path of Exile staple since the skill gem was introduced. The concept of running through maps while hordes of monsters die around you is a true Power Fantasy.
Pohx Righteous Fire Juggernaut version can easily hold his own. Juggernaut has a much easier time getting the defensive layers online. Also, no need for anything complex as this build is great for first-timers since your main defensive layers come from Armour stacking. If you are new to Righteous Fire, this version is excellent for you.
Velyna’s Spectral Shield Throw Raider is the build for you if like throwing a shield around like Captain America, shattering enemies as it bounces and splinters within packs! Spectral Shield Throw scales DPS based on the armour value of your shield, meaning you don’t need to buy an expensive weapon and an excellent build as league starter.
Velyna’s Ice Trap Saboteur For most of PoE’s history traps have been known as a strong league starter, not requiring expensive uniques or heavy crafting to kill bosses early, and this remains true today. If you want to Cruise through the acts into endgame quickly and easily this is the build for you.
Velyna - Storm Brand Inquisitor offers a smooth campaign experience and a very smooth investment curve throughout early maps and easily helps you farm currency for future upgrades. This build is primarily a mapping build and thrives off creating explosion chains that delete most of the screen in a satisfying manner. This build is to be suitable for anyone, both new and returning players.
CasualDanPoe - Minion Army Necromancer is a cheap league starter that will enable you to farm tier 16 maps on a budget. Fast, deadly, with a lot of quality of life features. If you’d like to feel like a General of an Undead Army, then try out this league starter and you’re not going to be disappointed.
PoE Vault - Arc Mines Saboteur is a premium build that remains a powerhouse league in and league out. If you enjoy trappers/miners, or you want a welcome change of pace or style, then this build will be more than capable to let you enjoy traps. Very easy play style and a recommendation for new players.
PoE Vault - Spark Inquisitor This build is an excellent league starter and requires very little investment to start rolling over maps and bosses. Due to range and nature of Spark, even content that outstrips your current character or power level can be easily approached at a distance and eliminated. A very good recommendation for this League.
PoEVault - Lacerate Gladiator can reach similar heights on significantly less gear, and with a unique style and flair that few other melee skills have. This is partially because Lacerate is not really a true melee skill — in the end game, you will be able to obliterate packs nearly a full screen away. If you like a more melee style build, be sure to check this build out!
To make your leveling experience easier, you can pick up our Quick Reference Levelling guide.
If you're thinking about getting into Path of Exile (it's free-to-play!) with this newest league, our mods are available to answer any of your questions, so please feel free to join their Discord.
We wish you an amazing league start.

The newest Path of Exile challenge league (Archnemesis) and expansion 3.17 (Siege of the Atlas) are upon us and launch today! We've updated the guides on our sister site PoE Vault to ensure that Exiles are well-prepared to challenge the new Eldritch Horrors in the Atlas of the Worlds.
Together with the Archnemesis league they also have a brand-new end game Atlas with the Siege of the Atlas expansion; a new era begins!
Siege of the Atlas
In Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas, two new Eldritch Horrors threaten to consume the Atlas of Worlds. Join Commander Kirac's militia and defend the Atlas and Wraeclast itself against these celestial foes.
This large endgame expansion contains new Atlas systems, pinnacle bosses, one gigantic Atlas passive skill tree, Eldritch implicit endgame crafting, new unique items, and much more.
The Archnemesis Challenge League
In the Archnemesis league, you'll build your own Rare boss fights by applying new monster modifiers to petrified monsters, found throughout every area. These modifiers add dangerous behaviours to their targets but also imbue them with valuable rewards. Each subsequent petrified monster you imbue within an area keeps all of the previous modifiers applied, allowing you to build some extremely difficult and rewarding encounters. There are over 60 new boss modifiers to discover, more than half of which can be created by combining other modifiers in specific recipes to unlock the most powerful and rewarding modifiers.
Recommended Builds for Siege of the Atlas and the Archnemesis league

Giving good clear speed and consistent bossing damage, the build is perfect for both beginners and veterans alike and a solid league starter choice. GhazzyTV’s Blade Blast Bladefall Poison Assassin is one of the most prominent choices for both SSF, hardcore, as well as trade leagues. This build brings very enjoyable clear speed as well as efficient bossing to the table. It has very interesting mechanics where you cast one skill on top of another skill creating massive explosions and poisoning the enemy. TbXie’s Herald of Agony Juggernaut is back on the table as one of the best tanky builds around in any scenario of the game. The build has an insane damage reduction of reaching 89% elemental damage reduction and 92% Physical reduction. While this obviously makes it very tanky, it still maintains 3-5M Shaper DPS. TbXie’s Arc Elementalist has seen some gigantic buffs in the Archnemesis league. Arc is going to be a very strong self-cast build. This build is amazing for Solo Self-Found where you can reach 2M boss damage and 10.000 effective health. A very strong contender in the new league. TbXie’s Freezing Pulse Totems Hierophant has been one of the most popular builds for newer players for the longest of times. Especially after recent tree changes, it pushed its single target boss killing capabilities up by quite a significant amount. This build is an excellent one for both new and experienced players alike. Furty’s Lacerate Gladiator has been a staple of league starts and Solo Self-Found alike. With the addition of last league Masteries and an improved tree, this build is more flexible than ever and has one of the smoothest transitions from Merveil to end game. Furty’s Bladestorm Berserker isn't one of the most known builds, but it has the potential to be one of the most powerful builds. It has extremely high damage is backed by stable leech, life, and mobility, allowing you to carve your way through the endgame with confidence. A new Path of Exile league begins today: Scourge! We've updated the guides on our sister site PoE Vault to ensure that Exiles are well-prepared to challenge the deadly Scourge in their twisted Nightmare. You can learn more about the gameplay and features of this newest league at the Path of Exile 3.16 Scourge League Guide / Hub!
Scourge League Mechanics
This latest league introduces an all-new device used to upgrade items, the Blood Crucible. This device, when filled with the blood of slain enemies, can be activated to shift the Exile into the Nightmare, an apocalyptical world of deadly enemies known as the Scourge. The Blood Crucible also allows players to “Scourge” items and maps to roll for powerful modifiers. Items placed in the Blood Crucible will gain Corruption from fiends killed while in the Nightmare, and can be transformed to gain new beneficial and detrimental modifiers.
Recommended Builds for Scourge
We've put together an list of recommended Patch 3.16 builds for players both new and old. Here you'll find a small taste of what the build has in store for you! Click on a guide's name to check out the full deal on PoE Vault, including skill tree builds, Path of Building exports, gearing recommendations and more.
Furty's Lacerate Gladiator has been a staple of league starts and solo self-found alike. With the addition of Masteries and an improved tree, this build is more flexible than ever and has one of the smoothest transitions from Merveil to Maven. Furty's Bladestorm Berserker isn't one of the game's most well known archetypes, but it has the potential to be one of the most powerful. Extremely high damage is backed by stable leech, life, and mobility, allowing you to carve your way through the end-game with confidence. An added bonus is that Bladestorm is a great skill for leveling, making it a great choice for any melee league start. Furty's Essence Drain and Contagion — name a more iconic duo. This chaos damage combo has been tearing apart maps for years and is still virtually unmatched when it comes to raw clear speed in maps. One of the best builds for solo self-found, you'll doubtless see many streamers sticking with this setup on league launch. LunaWolve's Lightning Strike Raider offers super fast clear, good boss scaling, and heavy defenses to make sure we don't die. The build is able to scale even more into defense if necessary. Ghazzy's Dark Pact Necromancer is a super solid league start build that scales very well in the end-game. This build offers lots of possible upgrade routes to handle the absolute hardest type of end-game available to us. Ghazzy's Raise Spectre Summoner build guide has been around for many years and is consistently updated to show you the absolute best spectres in the game for optimal performance. It's a wonderful build to use in Hardcore with the many options you have to tweak the build to your personal preference. Ghazzy's Ice Spear Freezing Pulse Totem Hierophant is an incredibly strong league starter build with great clearing as well as very solid end-game bossing capabilities. It also comes with an insanely high roof of upgradable options. Ghazzy's Eye of Winter Saboteur offers crazy damage output while requiring almost no gear whatsoever, making it one of the best league start boss killer builds around. Ghazzy's Physical Golem Necromancer build thrives on being super tanky while still having admirable damage output! Carrion Golems are used for lower budgets and higher budgets stacking Primordial Harmony will go for Stone Golem stacking. TbXie's Freezing Pulse Totems has been one of the most popular builds for newer players for the longest of times. Especially after recent tech also pushed his single target bosskilling capabilities up by quite a significant amount, this build is an excellent one for both new and experienced players alike. TbXie's Carrion Golems Elementalist takes advantage of the addition of many more powerful gem options in Scourge. Carrion Golems is making a resurgence as one of the top contenders to trivialize almost any content in the game. As long as you're willing to invest a little bit of time and currency into your character, Carrion Golems is going to treat you really well. Definitely my pick for a summoner league starter this time around. TbXie's Righteous Fire Juggernaut is perfect for anyone who has envisioned being the Burning Man? With an insane buff to Righteous Fire this patch, now is your time to shine - or be on fire. While the build may never be the biggest powerhouse, it now packs a significant amount of punch while staying incredibly durable and easy to play. If you're looking for a smooth transition to the very endgame, give this one a try. Useful General Guides
For the best success in Path of Exile's Patch 3.16 Scourge League, you'll need more than just a good build! Don't worry, we've got you covered. PoE Vault also features a number of guides covering general gameplay, such as our Echoes of Atlas, Quick Reference Leveling, or Atlas Progression guides.
Questions?
If you've got questions about builds and itemization in Scourge you can chat with our writers on the PoE Vault Discord! If you're thinking about getting into Path of Exile (it's free-to-play!) with this newest league, we're available any generalized questions about the game, too, so come say, "Hi!"
