The Most Painful Faction Change

Recommended Posts

Horde/Alliance loyalty is always a touchy subject, especially with the new cross-faction grouping opening up old "put the war back in Warcraft" wounds, but this particular faction change scenario is especially painful - literally.

PlenitudeOpulence posted a tattoo removal video, and while it's unclear if it's actually a faction change or just a pure removal, it's certainly expensive and time-consuming, as it can take up to 5 visits to finish the process.

The post also appeared on r/WoW, where there were plenty of comments on the matter:

That’s why you get the crest of Lordaeron. Rep both factions at the same time.  - toasted_oatsnmore
...
Why not just get a second tattoo? 1 for each alt. Would’ve been a lot cheaper. - spitfire32
[In response to the above] This is the sole reason an account is limited to 50 characters. - Tyrenstra
...
Does laser removal leave scars? - LastOfOz
[In response to the above] I AM MY SCARS - iamShorteh
...
Don’t give blizz any new ideas. - GUEstophson
...
“People will pay HOW much for a faction change?” - activision blizzard probably - petehehe

So the next time you feel like commenting on how expensive the faction-change service is, remember that some players had to pay hundreds of dollars for theirs!

I wonder why they are having it removed. Though it looks really tiny, maybe because it is on the hand and in that ink color, they were getting people guessing it was gang related. If I ever in my life got a horde tat, it would probably be that shield style art on a calf or something.

Poor guy 😕 getting tattoos and removing them are not decisions that are taken lightly.  I'll never will have this removed from my forearm.

way back when... flying buffalo, inc brought out City Book 1 for RPGs that had different businesses that a GM could use in his city.  I am the original author of Sleeze's Tattoo Shop where one could get mattoos, magical tats.  But if you didn't like it, it was removed by a kriss and chopping off the part of the body where it was inked. Thank goodness, this isn't how it is done in the real world.

Currently, on the Dragonflight Beta, you won't reach Level 70 just by completing the campaign. You also need to run dungeons or complete side quests.
The first gating occurs in Azure Span where you need to be Level 66 to continue the Dragonflight campaign. However, you will be safe if you complete at least 3 dungeons at Level 60 and higher and you won't need to complete any side quests.
The second gating, however, is more noticeable and you will need to reach Level 70 to be able to start the final two chapters of the Dragonflight campaign.

Dragonflight includes a ton of side quests that you can easily find by opening the map for each zone and they reward you with reputation that increases your Renown with the main factions, so you would probably complete them anyway.

What do you think about gating the main campaign behind levels? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
