Rextroy Reaches 2.4K Rating with Broken Arena Composition

Recommended Posts

Rextroy is back with a new video and an unusual Arena composition build around damage reduction that helps him easily reach 2.4K MMR.

Background Information

Today, we are going to destroy the ladder with a most unusual comp, Protection Warrior / Unholy Death Knight! We already pushed 2k back in the day when Shield Slam was one shotting people, but that has been fixed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F9uv...

So now we are instead going for defense, and that is leading us all the way to 2.5k MMR! Easily obtaining the Elite achievement.

The thing that makes it so powerful, is thanks to the DK / Warrior synergy. Death Knight is insanely strong against magic, thanks to anti-magic shell, zone, and spellwarding. As well as having solid healing with Death Strike.

However Death Knight is weak to most physical comps, but thanks to having a Protection Warrior partner, we bring DKs lots of damage reduction!

Such as a permanent 40% with Bodyguard BodyguardIt feeds us with shield slam procs as well, which makes our DMG almost as high as our partner's in certain cases... It will also break us out of any CC, thanks to the damage being transferred to us.

This will shut down most rogue comps, as well as hunter and mages.

We got Demoralizing Shout, which is a 25% dmg reduction for 8 seconds, every 30 seconds! Thanks to Morale Killer Morale Killer PvP talent.

We also got 2 charges on Shield Wall, which is given to our party members at 50% effectiveness thanks to the legendary Unbreakable Will Unbreakable Will.

Lastly, if we want even more defense, we got a 15% damage reduction debuff on an enemy, with almost permanent uptime - Shield Bash Shield Bash

Talents for Warriors

As stated in the video, here is a short overview of talents!

First Row - Devastator if the enemy attacks you, or if you are unsure. Otherwise Punish (20% Shield slam DMG) is good for our teammate.

Second - I go with Double time for movement, but the best one would be Storm Bolt in most cases, a stun is handy.

Third - Booming Voice Overall good for dmg and rage gain (which is survival).

Fourth - Crackling against stealthers for the opener, Bounding Stride otherwise.

Fifth - Indomitable is best so we don't die in a stun, also really solid healing, Impending Victory is interesting and could be good if you aren't afraid to die in a stun.

Sixth - Into the Fray / Ravager are both solid choices. Into the Fray especially since DK pets will add to the buff.

Seventh - Anger management is best overall, Bolster can make some fun burst DMG, however.

PvP

Morale Killer (always)

Bodyguard (not against pure magic, then go with the other 3)

Shield Bash OR Sword and Board (if you want defense or DMG)

As for Death Knight, I don't have space to write it all out, but Ipanic usually stays with the same talents as his armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/cha...

Some changes are Necrotic Aura VS Spellwarding if he wants survival or not Abomination instead of Necrotic Wounds against Rogue / Mage to find the rogue. Against Rogue / Healer he usually goes abomination, Necrotic Aura, and Wounds.

I have not tried this comp in 3v3 but could be insane with a healer since you are immune to CC and have so many defenses to give our teammates.

You can watch the Protection Warrior and Unholy Death Knight Arena combo in the video below.

Here's a reminder for all Demon Hunters! Since it's Burning Crusade Timewalking you can earn Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth from Illidan if you earned the weapons the regular way!
Make sure to run Timewalking Black Temple on your Demon Hunter this week if you've unlocked the Warglaives of Azzinoth achievement with a character that can equip them.
You need to collect both warglaives to use them for transmog and to unlock the “I'll Hold These For You Until You Get Out” achievement.
Remember, achievement credit isn't shared across your account, so you must obtain both weapons with the same character.
If you haven't acquired the regular warglaives yet, now is a great time to start farming them. That way, you'll be prepared to grab the Arsenal at the next Burning Crusade Timewalking event.

It's super easy to go from Hated to Revered with the Netherwing faction during the Burning Crusade Timewalking event, and the reputation buff helps you unlock six awesome mounts fast!
Sign of the Twisting Nether is active this week and the buff increases Burning Crusade reputation gains from combat and quests by 50%, which means you can skip the tedious Netherwing grind.
Normally, you would go from Hated to Neutral with the Netherwing faction upon completing the questline that unlocks the faction.
With Sign of the Twisting Nether, you will go from Hated straight to Revered! If you haven't done the questline yet, now's the best time to do so!
Where to Start the Netherwing Questline?
You can start the questline at the crystals south of Warden's Cage in Shadowmoon Valley, where you must talk to a High Elf quest-giver named Mordenai wandering around the crystals. You will find more information here.
At Exalted with the Netherwind faction, you will receive one Netherwing mount for free and can buy the rest for 200 Gold from the vendor in Shattrath City.
The available mounts are listed below:
Reins of the Azure Netherwing Drake Reins of the Cobalt Netherwing Drake Reins of the Onyx Netherwing Drake Reins of the Purple Netherwing Drake Reins of the Veridian Netherwing Drake Reins of the Violet Netherwing Drake Here's a screenshot to better illustrate their appearance.

Season 4 has partially started on NA servers, as players are noticing elements of the new season popping up. This is actually planned and was announced by Blizzard, as you can see below, but players were not expecting this much to change before the reset.

Dragonflight Season 3 will be ending April 22 at 10:00 p.m. PDT, the night before the regularly scheduled maintenance, with Dragonflight Season 4 beginning immediately following on April 23. The blue post indicated that the season should start soon after, on the 23rd, which presumably means after the weekly reset. Here are some of the things that have already changed.
Players have been reporting various aspects of the season being in-game, starting with Season 3 items now being marked as legacy, with a grey tooltip, as spotted by Strosts:

Crests and Flightstones have also been reset, with new ones dropping from World Quests.
Catalyst charges are also now in Season 4 mode, as spotted by lemoncocoapuff.

We have four new zones coming in the War Within, but just how large are they, all told? We have a few community members showing their relative sizes off, comparing to various other expansion landmasses, which we'll be taking a look at today.
First of all, the new expansion has one above-ground zone and three below, as the Isle of Dorn is our gateway into the three underground zones. This is best showcased by Sturtime2, who broke the Dragonflight and War Within zones down (with Zaralek, Emerald Dream and Forbidden Reach all being post-expansion launch zones):

Now that we have a better idea of the War Within zone structure, we have a more visually direct comparison by CygnetFR, who also added Kul Tiras in there for comparison:

And finally we have another Dragon Isles comparison, only this time with the Easern Kingdoms thrown in, courtesy of keyboardturn:

Blizzard have offered some feedback on player comments on the Priest Hero talents on the War Within Alpha, as our own guide writer, Publik, pointed out some issues with Voidreaver.
      Priest Feedback (Source)
      Hello!
Thanks for this well-written post on the state of Voidweaver for Shadow.
First, to clarify the functionality of the rift: There are not current plans for there to be a pull-in effect. We’re closely watching the power level of utility coming from hero talent trees. Given the frequency of the rift, a pull-in would surpass the power level aiming for.
We appreciate the feedback that the slow effect from the slow effect from No Escape may not be utilized as often as we’re hoping especially compared to Dark Energy. As far as gameplay goes, the Entropic Rift window feeling tough to manage is something we aim to improve on during our next pass of the tree. Beyond that, there’s a lot of great bugs and feedback points here that we’ll bring back to the team and discuss.

Some updates on the other Priest Hero Talent trees:
We’ve updated Oracle’s design to be focused on healing instead of support mechanics and are looking for feedback about how it plays. There are a couple of talents that are not currently ready, and we’ll update those in the coming weeks, including a revision to the capstone. We’re also very excited about the visual effects for this tree and hope you are, too!
The design for Archon is currently a work in progress. The core of the design revolves around Halo, and we’ll unveil its talents soon.
