Latest Dragonflight Beta Build Adds Audio Files for More Dracthyr Classes

Recommended Posts

65436-introducing-the-dracthyr-evoker-in

Blizzard added audio files for other Dracthyr classes in Dragonflight Beta Build 45969. However, this doesn't mean there are plans to allow more classes besides Evokers, for now at least.

This was discovered by content creator MrGM, who noticed new audio files in the latest Beta build that reference Dracthyr classes outside of Evokers, mainly related to resources (or lack thereof) in the game files. Specifically, "Out of Energy", "Out of Mana", "Out of Ammo", "Out of Rage".

Blizzard adding the audio files now is  just futureproofing against new race/class combos. They do not confirm anything at this point and the Dracthyr race will be exclusive to Evokers when Dragonflight launches. Still, it's good to know they exist in the game files.

I remember Red Shirt guy mentioning that the Dracthyr already have spell casting animations. He mentioned specifically Mqges, Shamans and Warlocks.

My bet is that they will add more aclasses in future patches or are preparing this for 11.0 (since they mentioned more race-class combinations)

This doesn't mean much, they've given all races all classes' animations. Draenei and LF draenei have had warlock animations since they were added, for example. You could call it futureproofing against new classes (draenei rogues are now set up and they've had stealth animations since TBC...) but it also means:

- If they use a class animation for an item or quest all races can use it.

- If a player changes their appearance to another race through toy or quest they can still use proper class animations instead of defaulting to naff ones.

All the animation can be seen in WoW dresser, and they are actually quite good. My bet is that after Dracthyr learn more of the other races they will adapt new forms of martial arts to their kit, allowing them to be more classes.

Probably inevitable.

Spoiler

During the dracthyr starting area quests, there's clearly tank focused ones within the Obsidian Warders, and The Adamant Vigil (implied as destroyed) were scouts and spies, aka Hunters and Rogues. The purpose of the Ebon Scales turned Sundered Flame wasn't revealed in the starting area, but could be a link to further still class options.

Exactly, same reasons as to why Worgen and Goblin have monk animations, while they can't play as one. Perhaps they will allow all classes for everyone, at least this is their stated goal. I could also see evokers being unlocked for every race, no reason to have them kept for just one race with a lore they just made up. Just have them empowered by dragons and there we go - new evoker options!

It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
