Potential Fix for FPS Drops and Stuttering After Dragonflight Pre-patch

Recommended Posts

Many players have been experiencing performance issues since the pre-patch arrived, specifically with FPS drops and stuttering. However, there seems to be a workaround to disable one specific graphics option which is helping some players, although not fixing it entirely for others.

And here's Marlamin (creator of WoW Tools) explaining the issue and solution as well:

Yeah, this patch has some issues. Other than what was mentioned in this article, there is also a bug with Wintegrasp battleground, it can crash the game.

Hey, I created this topic on reddit and I hope more people will find a fix in it 🙂 it helped me alot! I don't have great PC (i5-4gen, GTX960OC, SSD 128 GB on SATA3 and 12 GB of DDR3 RAM) but I also had huge FPS drops problems. I found it and it helped me so I had to share this info for everyone 🙂 Blizz makes really bad job with WoW, I'm afraid what will be at DF launch 😕

I mean, you're kind of trying to play wow with a potato.  Recommended requirements area 6 core 8th gen intel, 16gb ram, 8gb of vram from a current gen graphics card.  They're not optimizing for 10 year old hardware.

It's not potato spec. I know it's old but dude please xD it's old game on old engine. Even people with RTX3070 had exactly same issues so you think they have potatos too? 😄 Sorry but we can't look for this like you. We just need a fix, Blizzard knows about it already.

i've also had some weird issues as well maybe this will help others. Some reason directx 12 is stupid on my computer setup. idk whats wrong maybe bad software, but ive installed recently a new OS and still isseus with D12. Artifacting very badly, thought it was my GPU turned out not to be my GPU after taking back the old one and buying a new one. Found out after the new Pre-Patch WoW forces d12 now and it just went bad bad bad for me. Switching to d11 "directx 11" helped a lot of the artifacting to <.0025% "Basically barely happening now"

switch from d12 to d11 fixed my issues.

PS: dont come at me about my system specs.

It was sometimes fix since Shadowlands so yea, for some specs switch to DX11 can help.

I was having similar issues.  Various issues would occur across multiple toons.  I would suddenly lag out and have to restart the game.  This happened more in heavily populated areas.  For me, I removed the "automatic load" for the Warcraft Logs Companion.  Why this would have such a big impact in major, "non-combat" areas, I don't know.  But, I have not had another hiccup since making this change in the app companion settings.  Don't know if this will help anyone else, but wanted to throw that out there.

Reddit user Bonelord911 tried to organize all specializations by their alignment to the cosmology chart and here's the result!
There's just one slight inconsistency as ItisCaleb and Evonyte pointed out. Monks should be at Spirit, close to reality, since the Chi is a Spirit element according to the Chronicles.

The individual items that comprise the Dark Ranger General's transmog set have been added in the latest Patch 10.2.5 build. The armor set allows players to resemble Sylvanas Windrunner.
Hunters will probably be happy with the addition of the Dark Ranger General's armor set! Here's a preview of the set. At this time, the source of the ensemble remains unknown. It is possibly tied to the Gilnean Reclamation or Trading Post, we'll see.

Blizzard added a new Night Elf child model in this week's Patch 10.2.5 build.
The model is used NPCs that have moved to Bel'ameth and Belanaar harbor, as indicated in the latest development notes.

      BEL’AMETH
Many Night Elves are now starting to arrive in Bel’ameth and Belanaar harbor to settle in their new homes. In addition to these new hubs, explore other areas across the island to find new night elf cosmetic treasures. Here's a detailed look at the new model. The model looks a bit creepy and the feet are somewhat low texture. Hopefully this will get fixed in a future build.

For more details about the new Night Elf home, check the detailed zone preview by MrGM. Did you know Bel'ameth is a neutral city? Even Horde players can enter!

This week's Patch 10.2.5 build brought an updated map of Amirdrassil.
We're talking about the non-phased Amirdrassil zone available to everyone in the latest update. For comparison, here's the old map from the previous PTR build.

And here's the updated map from this week's Patch 10.2.5 build. Bel'ameth has been marked on the map along with other areas like Belanaar port.

Amirdrassil has also been added to the world map in the previous PTR build.

The new Night Elf home Bel'aneth added in Patch 10.2.5 is a neutral city. However, Horde players who enter the city will see a debuff informing them that they are being watched.
The debuff's name is Eyes of the Sentinels and the tooltip reads: Seen and unseen eyes alike are watching your every move.
