The Arena World Championship and Mythic Dungeon International return in 2023 to dive into all that Dragonflight has to offer.

With more than $1.6 million (USD) of prizing on the line, 2023 is bound to be another great year for the Arena World Championship (AWC) and Mythic Dungeon International (MDI). In addition to the quest for immortality and taking home a share of the prize pools, all players across both programs will be able to earn the new in-game Thundering Banner of the Aspects. Registration is now open for the first events, which will all be broadcast live on Twitch and YouTube!

ARENA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

With the launch of Dragonflight, we’re taking a new seasonal approach to the Arena World Championship.  The AWC will consist of two full seasons of competition tied directly to in-game seasons, with each culminating in epic Season Grand Finals boasting a $300,000 (USD) prize pool and the chance to be crowned that season’s Dragonflight Champions.

Each in-game Season will feature a full competition of qualifier Cups, with the top three teams per region advancing to the Grand Finals, while teams placed 4-8 will move to the all-new AWC Gauntlet.  The AWC Gauntlet is a single-elimination bracket tournament with the last standing team from each region securing the final spots at the Grand Finals!

SEASON 1

Beginning today, teams in Europe and North America can sign up on GameBattles for the Dragonflight Season 1 Cups, where they’ll earn the new in-game Thundering Banner of the Aspects as they battle for their chance at advancing to the Grand Finals. There will be four open Cups divided per region, where teams will compete for points as well as $20,000 (USD) prize money per Cup. After all the Cups and the AWC Gauntlet, the remaining four teams in each region will face off in the Spring during the Season 1 Grand Finals for their share of the combined $300,000 (USD) prize pool!

MYTHIC DUNGEON INTERNATIONAL

Following the continued success of the Mythic Dungeon International and the growth of The Great Push (TGP), we’re excited to announce full seasons of both formats in 2023 as players engage with the new Mythic+ Dungeon rotations.  Competitions will consist of a dedicated Season for speed-running Dungeons in the Mythic Dungeon International and pushing keystones to their limit in The Great Push – each concluding in an epic Global Finals with $300,000 (USD) in prizing combining for over $800,000 (USD) across the year.

SEASON 1 – MYTHIC DUNGEON INTERNATIONAL

During Dragonflight Season 1, a full season of Mythic Dungeon International takes place in the new Dungeons. Time Trials for Season 1 take place beginning February 1, with registration now open to all eligible teams, where, the top 24 teams globally will advance to the MDI Groups. In each MDI Group, teams of eight will compete for a share of $30,000 (USD) prizing, as well as to be one of the top two teams qualifying to the MDI Global Finals. Following the Groups, the Last Stand Tournament will once-again offer two qualification spots as the final chance to advance. The remaining eight teams from around the world will battle it out at the Global Finals for their share of the $300,000 (USD) prize pool and the title of MDI 2023 Global Champion!

On top of everything mentioned above, teams who complete the Time Trials Dungeons in-time will be eligible for the new in-game Thundering Banner of the Aspects! The first MDI 2023 season begins on February 1, 2023 and sign-ups are now open, so head over to GameBattles to register!

SEASON 2 – THE GREAT PUSH

The Great Push has continued to create great stories from its inception in 2021 as one-weekend competitions to an experimental mini-season in 2022. For Dragonflight Season 2, TGP is growing into a full competitive season with its own $300,000 (USD) Global Finals prize pool! Be on the lookout for more information over the coming months when we get closer to Dragonflight Season 2.

NEW DUNGEONS

Each Dragonflight Season will feature a new dungeon rotation for Mythic+. In Season 1, four dungeons from Dragonflight are included along with four returning dungeons from previous expansions. Head over to our Dragonflight Season 1 article to check out everything you need to know to prepare yourselves for Dragonflight Season 1.

NEW SEASONAL AFFIX: THUNDERING

The seasonal affix for Dragonflight’s first season is Thundering. While the Thundering affix is active, players are periodically overcharged with primal power from Raszageth’s unending storm granting them 30% more damage and healing. However, this power comes with great risk. If the Marks of Wind and Lightning are not discharged before they expire it can result in stunning consequences!

We can’t wait to get the Dragonflight competitions underway, so be sure to sign up GameBattles. Stay connected and on top of the latest news by subscribing to our Twitch and YouTube channels and following the WoW Esports Twitter.

Good luck and have fun!

Another year, another (few) hundred attempts at the Love Rocket/X-45 Heartbreaker mount for a lot of players. Love Is in the Air ended a while ago, and players have been comparing how they did in THE most arduous mount grind available in WoW today (yes, move over Invincible, you’re just a common drop in comparison).
We have players that have been going at it for FIFTEEN years now, with no luck, running the dungeon for the mount on many different characters - but some managed to strike gold this year! So, let’s take a look at some player reactions at getting the mount, or, more likely, not.
First we have the eternals as I call them, who have been going at it for a LONG time. Bob claims to have been trying for 20 years and still didn’t get one (but seeing as the event has only been around for 15 years, he's exaggerating a little - but it definitely feels like 2 decades), but that hasn’t stopped him from he will trying again next year.
“Honestly - 20 years and still no drop? That’s insane. I can respect rare drops, but fuck this shit. They talk about ‘higher chance on first character’ and ‘bad luck protection’ - but it’s BS for the Love Rocket (or the new name).Edit: I’m a bit less pissed knowing there are others out there. Good luck to you all next year.“ - ItsFuckinBob
“I've had every other holiday mount for 10+ years and yet the love rocket still eludes me. I run it on about 10 toons every day for the duration of the event for the past 15 years” - Forsaken-Let8739

But that’s not all when it comes to rarity, as plenty of players have not only not gotten the mount, they’ve never even seen anyone get it in the many, many groups they’ve run the dungeon with! Now that’s partly due to the mount not dropping as loot directly, but it’s still pretty demotivating.
"That's the crazy thing. In all my years running to get it, I've never seen it drop for anyone." - JayIT
Even looking at just the current year, players are putting an insane amount of time for the mount, with no luck:
"750 kills, 30 hours in the dungeon, no mount or saddle drop. Guess I'll just have to get it next year ?" - DeeRez

There actually are those that do get it, and here are some that have ended their suffering this year:
"15 years I got mine this year… 30 toons a day I did about 400 runs this year it will drop!" - jvaughn95
"I've done it since the event was introduced into game and finally got it this year (there is hope!). I just stared blankly at the screen and very calmly said "I got it..." and my husband whirled around and was like what? the mount? YOU GOT IT! - he sounded more excited than me lol. I was just numb after years of trying. So glad!
Now the saddle won't drop but oh well XD" - NeoSakurie

And then, of course, there are the (much disliked) lucky ones:
"Got mine on 2nd run.." - shittysituationz
"I was away for work for all but 2 days of the event I have 2 max lvl toons got it day 2 ?" - sueybro
"Ran it for years now but this year I went HARD. 14+ characters per day and I leveled 2 of them during the event! My WIFE walks in one time this event and gets it. Once. I'm not angry I love that she has it but ooooooh my goooooooood blizzard can we please just have a 500 run achievement for it or something at this point. I'm sure I'm close." - PolyWolyDoodal
"My wife just dropped it after 3rd attempt. I am fuming." - xdCms

And then there are people like roughschematics, who have a pretty good argument on the whole thing, trying to break the cycle of people getting more and more annoyed chasing the mount:

So, how did you fare this year? How long have you been at the hunt, and when exactly did it start to annoy you? Or have you just been ignoring it entirely?

A Hunter player had their account suspended because of their pet's default name.
For some reason, the account was reported and suspended because the pet was named "Carrion Bird". What's both hilarious and unfortunate is that the player didn't even choose the name; it's the default name given in the game when you tame the pet.
Hopefully, the ban will get overturned, since it's probably automated and unintended.
