Old God Involvement in Dragonflight?

Recommended Posts

During the Chromie Time quest in Thaldraszus where we travel back to the Black Empire, a set of very interesting whispers has set up in motion new speculations about the Old Gods' involvement in Dragonflight.

While in the Black Empire, the player receives whispers from four entities, which I believe are Yogg, N'Zoth, C'Thuun, and Y'Shaarj.

Piercing Presence

Piercing Presence whispers: No one is coming to save you.

Piercing Presence whispers: Your allies will leave you behind.

Piercing Presence whispers: You have already lost.

Observing Presence

Observing Presence: You will die.

Observing Presence whispers: Your courage will fail.

Maddening Presence

Maddening Presence whispers: All that you know will fade.

Maddening Presence whispers: Hope is an illusion.

Knowing Presence

This one's particularly interesting because we know we're going underground in Patch 10.1 and it opens a lot room for speculations. Who's "he"? Nozdormu? After all, the plot of Dragonflight is his inevitable fate and transformation into Murozond...

Knowing Presence whispers: I... know you. What you were. What you will yet be.

Knowing Presence whispers: You will follow him to the deep places. The dark waters will flow in his wake.

Knowing Presence whispers: With many eyes, they will see again. They will drink, and be uplifted.

Knowing Presence whispers: Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dreams. Our song.

A tome found in Uldaman (Edicts of the Prime Designate, Volume 742 Edicts of the Prime Designate, Volume 742) written by Odyn refers to the Black Empire. Odyn wants "all historical records documenting the advancements of the Black Empire purged". Furthermore, the age should be pained before us (mortals) as "one of chaos and misery, a pernicious blight that the keepers eradicated".

Do you see where this is heading? We might be up for an Old God surprise in Dragonflight!

I would be okay with this, I think. We still don't know The Big Bad tm of this expansion yet, do we?

Remaining Incarnates, I assume. Unless they all die in the next patch and there is one more raid, then we might get something else.

According to the article in the launcher from Holly Longdale, there will be two more raids, one in patch 10.1 and the other in 10.2.

I would be surprised if they only gave us 3 raids. There hasn't been a time were fewer raids were better for an expansion.

I highly doubt the Old Gods will be of any significant focus in this expansion besides the Chromie questline. The old gods could use a break tbh, plus it would make sense for them to go on vacation with being 'dead' and all. I don't see them sticking Xal'atath in the middle of what is already occurring either.

Oh lord here we go again with Ysera. They tried corrupting her before in Legion.

This is interesting! I wonder if the references to 'Her' are related to Elune?

Saezurah in Zereth Mortis had some similar dialogue, which implies the 'Her' in question might be a cosmic deity?

Knowing Presence whispers: "Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dreams. Our song."

Saezurah says: "Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Quiet now, but her voice will awaken the others."

Perhaps we'll visit, or at least see references to these other Zereths. If Zereth Mortis is related to death, and Zereth Ordus is a plane of order/arcane - there are surely more, according to Saezurah.

This quote makes much more sense now than it did in Shadowlands.

Saezurah says: "Mortis. Lumen. Ordus. Rhythm and structure."

and

Saezurah says: "Vitae. Umbra. Tumult. Improvisation and possibility."

I'm convinced you farm the confused reaction at this point tbh

Who are you, again?
Not to mention you needed to sleep through BfA hard to miss the "'Oooh, we're gonna do a faction conflict expansion' (2 patches later) 'Nah, Old Gods all the way as main villians, screw the faction conflict'" part, so your 'confusion' amoutns to nothing, lol.

Yep, which leaves the question whether they will kill all remaining Incarnates in the next raid or they will split them between two raids. Well, there is also a chance some of them could die during quests or dungeon. There is a chance they could start introducing some Void stuff in this expansion, but probably nothing major if next expansion will be centered about them. One particular setting that would fit is K'aresh, homeworld of Ethereals which was mostly destroyed by the Void and its remains should resemble Outland. Frankly, I don't like Primalists and Incarnates because they aren't that interesting, they are making this story feel like a rehash of Cataclysm+MoP (they are essentially Twilight's Hammer, but without Old Gods' corruption). But then again, Void Lords don't seem that interesting either. 😛

Oh ye because Warbringers Azshara didn't exist before the expansion released 😉 Nice gaslighting 🙂 .

It makes me wonder if the Titans only became so when the World Soul they started out as is taken to Zereth Ordus by one of them or the as yet enigmatic First Ones, and given its purpose there, which would make more sense as to why the Void Lords were looking to get a hold of one while still in its nascent state.

It also raises the question, where did the Burning Legion take Argus to in order to embody it with its purpose?

I still say "The Big Bad" should be war itself. Even if Horde and Alliance stop fighting, that war and those who will try and take power will keep popping up. It would be more interesting is what Zovaal was tying to stop was an intercosmic war for Azeroth's soul that threatens to end all of existence. If you follow the motivation of most of the villains in Warcraft, they have been trying to force people to unite under them to prevent some kind of war.

Post-Wrath, most of the expansions focused on 3 Raid Tiers, the only one that didn't was Warlords of Draenor.

I think we already know how this story is going to progress. With Raszageth dead and the Iridirkron being back...I believe we will see each Primal as something new in a new zone...1 probably being a World Boss another either being the end boss to the Mega Dungeon...and then Iridirkron being the end of Season 2...with either a defeat or death to usher in Season 3 which could probably set the stage for...a new timewalking event to the events of Galakrond and before they received their powers...an END TIME type scenario where we fight Galakrond alongside the Dragon Aspects and then end it with Nozdormu finally transforming to Murozond to maybe bring in the next expansion or set of Seasons focusing on the Infinite Dragonflight and the coming of the Void.

Blizzard somehow forgot to update the item level of BoA tokens from Dreamsurges to the Season 4 item level so they recently hotfixed it to 454.
On live servers, Celestine the Harvest now sells BoA gear tokens with item level 454 (up from 415). Visit the active Dreamsurge location to find the vendor.

Check out our Dreamsurges guide for more information about the event!

Players in Dark Heart can embark on a short quest in Valdrakken that rewards a Personal Tabard  that is account-wide, but the design you create is character-specific.
After completing the quest, you can customize your Personal Tabard at tabard designers in any capital city. Thanks to MrGM for the screenshots.

In a recent Reddit thread, players shared their regrettable experiences with the game's infamous Black Market Auction House (BMAH).
The highest bids often come with stories of disappointment and frustration, as highlighted by these popular comments:
Reddit user MadsenAn regretted spending a whopping 700,000 gold on a Tabard of Brilliance, only to receive it from a Twitch drop the same day, calling the coincidence "personal."
Redditor DM_ME_KUL_TIRAN_FEET shared a tale of woe about spending 180,000 gold on a BMAH mystery box, which contained a Goblin Weather Machine that they had already received from a Twitch drop just a day earlier.
Sammywitchdr recounted how they spent over 1 million gold on a Swift Zulian Panther thinking it was the rare ZG Tiger from vanilla WoW, only to realize they already owned the panther from a previous expansion.
Thoms689 was duped into bidding 1.2 million gold for a Tabard of Frost by a friend who was secretly outbidding him to inflate the price, a betrayal that cost him both gold and a friendship.
Vitchman shared a frustrating experience with a 600,000 gold bid for what turned out to be an Ordos drop that was unsuitable for his character class, illustrating the risks associated with the mysterious contents of BMAH boxes.
Caronry discussed a close call with bidding 5 million gold on an Arcanite Ripper, thankful to have been outbid, which potentially saved them from later regret.
Sigilweavers told a comedic yet painful tale of bidding 900,000 gold for a Firelands mount only to discover they already owned it after winning the auction. This story serves as a cautionary reminder to double-check what you already have before entering a bidding war.
MattyIce8998 recounted an almost regrettable bid of 800,000 gold on Frostfire shoulders, narrowly avoided by being outbid. They eventually acquired the item when it became craftable, much cheaper.
These stories encapsulate the high-risk, high-reward nature of the Black Market Auction House, where players' fortunes can swing dramatically with each bid and the lengths to which gamers will go for the rarities WoW has to offer.
Do you have any interesting BMAH story for us? Don't forget to share it in the comments!

Find out how to obtain the new Spark of Awakening in Season 4.
Spark of Awakening is used to set the item level of crafted gear to Item Level 502 in Season 4, but how can you obtain one on live servers?
Abandon the "Aiding the Accord" quest if it's in your Quest Log.
Pick up the weekly quest from Therazal in central Valdrakken. As you can see, there are now three possible quests for you to receive that will change every week.

The weekly quest options (and objectives) will always be the following:
      Dragon Isles Quest
Participate in a Community Feast Participate in a Hunt Lay siege to Dragonbane Keep Zaralek Cavern Quest
Protect the Researchers Under Fire Loot a Secured Shipment (Suffusion Camp) Complete a Time Rift Amirdrassil Quest
Earn 50 Bloom during the Superbloom Complete a Superbloom Plant 3 Dreamseeds Quest Rewards
After completing the weekly quest you will receive 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening) via Weekly Awakened Activity and a Cache of Awakened Storms (containing gold or gear).
You will need two Splintered Spark of Awakening and 250 Flightstones to create one Spark of Awakening.
      Awakened Raid Bosses
Apparently, Splintered Spark of Awakening have a chance to drop from Awakened Raid bosses, as spotted by @azatoth668!

We'd like to introduce you to a game-changing nameplate addon for Season 4 that's essential for excelling in Mythic+ dungeons.
Tracking every mob and their abilities in Mythic+ can be overwhelming, but this addon excels by replacing standard mob nameplates and cast bars to enhance your gameplay.
Once installed, mobs with critical interrupts will display a thick orange cast bar, while less crucial ones will show a thinner yellow bar.

Mobs with less crucial interrupts will have a thinner yellow cast bar.

Additionally, any mobs that inflict heavy frontal cone damage are marked with an arrow and feature orange cast bars. A voice alert will also prompt you to move by announcing "front."

The addon further assists by indicating non-interruptible spells that require crowd control with a purple cast bar and a vocal "cc" alert.

For tanks, if you're not holding aggro, the nameplates of the mobs will turn red, quickly showing you which ones to target.

There's also a handy visual cue on the cast bar, surrounded by a green border, signaling when you can interrupt an ability and your interrupt skill is off cooldown.

      Ready to try it out?
You can download Quazii Plater here.
For setup assistance, watch Quazii's comprehensive video guide.
Quazii has also created a Mythic+ cheatsheet that details all critical abilities for Season 4 dungeons, available in a text format.
