Hunter Bow Neltharax to Be Changed in Patch 10.0.7 + Hunter Tuning Changes

Recommended Posts

Blizzard have detailed some big changes coming to the Hunter bow, Neltharax, Enemy of the Sky Neltharax, Enemy of the Sky, as it's main ability is getting replaced entirely. We also get a peek into next week's Hunter tuning changes.

Hunters,

Neltharax, Enemy of the Sky is going to be changed in patch 10.0.7. The bow has a bonus effect on it that was intended to be a boost to the Hunter’s auto-shot damage when shooting a single target, and we still want to keep it that way. The special effect from the bow was not intended to also increase the melee auto-attack speed of any summoned pets. The power gain from this special Equip effect, in addition to its rarity, has made a pretty big divide between Hunters who have this bow, and Hunters who don’t. We’re changing the bow to have an equip effect that increases your auto-attack damage, rather than auto-attack speed. This auto-attack damage bonus will only affect you, the Hunter, and your own auto-shot damage – nothing from your pets will be increased from having this special bow. We recognize that the power gain of this bow was very large, and are tuning up some Hunter abilities to compensate for the changes made to the bow.

Here is the new equip effect of the bow:

Tuning changes planned for patch 10.0.7, and will likely be in your next PTR build.

All Specs:

  • Serpent Sting damage increased by 25%
  • Death Chakram damage increased by 100%

Beast Mastery Hunter:

  • Kill Command damage + 25%
  • Barbed Shot damage + 25%
  • Stomp damage + 25%
  • Cobra Shot damage + 50%

Marksmanship Hunter:

  • Arcane Shot and Chimaera Shot damage + 25%
  • Multi-Shot damage + 15%

As a reminder, numbers are still subject to change. Thank you all.

P.S. I hope you are still having nice weekends.

This isn't a "fun detected" nerf. It's a "this is completely broken and never should have gone live in the first place" nerf.

The Raz bow isn't just better than other bows. It's an absolutely MASSIVE DPS increase over the second best bow. To the point where even the LFR version beats out mythic weapons. This change should have been made ages ago.

What's 'fun' about having a 99 parse for yourself on a FrMage and a 99 parse BM hunter in your raid, only they do 10k more damage simply because the bow doesn't work the way it was designed to?

...unless of course you get massive Brain Freeze procs, and we all know how easy it is to get a pull with a quintillion procs.

The biggest change from this change, its that bestial wrath will be used a lot less on PVE combat, since the atk speed buff made reseting barbed shot a lot more consistent (and in some cases, even reaching a perma BW with high haste and crit builds).

I would change most of those damage gains for a higher proc chance to reset barbed shot, or a higher CD reduct per barbed shot cast, to counter-act this aspd nerf.

Hey at least you all aren’t playing ele shaman. Which blizzard forgot that they even exist in this mmo they made wtf man? All these buffs going out and hunter is doing really well in raid while ele shaman sits in the very bottom I don’t understand.

I was wondering why I've been seeing BM hunters everywhere.

not because of this bow you need to have some huge luck to have it tbh

Blizzard have changed the 4-set bonus for the 10.1 armor on Windwalker Monks on the PTR.
      Windwalker PTR (Source)
We have deployed a hotfix to the 10.1 PTR realms to adjust the Windwalker Monk 4-Set bonus. The new bonus is as follows:
      Windwalker Monk:
      (4) Set Bonus: Fists of Fury deals 25% increased damage to the primary target and increases Shadow and Fire damage you deal to all targets hit by 40% for 15 sec. Developer’s note: This hotfix replaces the existing 10.1 Windwalker Class Set Bonus with a new effect. While we loved the fantasy of granting Windwalkers an additional spirit, we heard your feedback around the resultant lack of control loud and clear and are making this change as a result.

The Highland Drake Dragonriding mount received a new Elementium transformation in the latest Patch 10.1 build on the PTR that drops in Aberrus.
We assume Highland Drake: Embodiment of the Elementium Drake will be a drop from the final boss of the 10.1 raid, similar to how Renewed Proto-Drake: Embodiment of the Storm-Eater drops from Raszageth.
The good news is the item should be available even on Raid Finder difficulty.
